well i have a eclipse 8808 sub ( three actually) that had some kind of short were the voice coil leads are soldered to the terminal leads. this has been awhile now so i decided to cut it apart and when i got to a fresh part of the vc leads i was able to see the coil was still good so i cut off the coil as close to the cone as i could mainly to save for dimensions. well i decided to order a rockford fosgate he recone to give it a whirl. the mounting locations for the surround and spider are perfect, but the coil is way to short, and a little to large at its outside diameter. so i am attempting to graph the eclipse coil onto thr rockford fosgate former. i can't glue anythin…

So i've been browsing around for some components in the ~75Wrms range, and I saw that Rockford Fosgate has some Power series components that fit the bill. The T1652-S and T2652-S look exactly the same, except for the fact that the T1 can be had online for 80 bucks, and the T2 is still around 200. As far as I can see, there is no difference except that cooling vent on the back, the tweeters are silver, and there's a pointy thing in the middle. If we're being honest, i'm not really going to push them too terribly hard, so I don't think that I would need the extra cooling. I guess my question is: does anyone have any experience with RF speakers, and does anyone know the real…

  8. Found someone selling a pair of Punch HE2 RFP3208s for cheap, and was thinking of picking them up to toy with since Ive never used 8s before. I cant find anything about them though except a lacking manual that doesnt have all the normal specs in it. Basically just 250w RMS, 11mm xmax, and box suggestions. Anyway, they are BNIB, and Im guessing kind of rare since I cant find anything on them. Has anyone heard or used them before that can comment if they are worth trying out?

i cant seem to find ANY worth while information on the Rockford 8 and 10" mid bass drivers on their website. no frequency curves, t/s specs, they look like parts express PA speakers to me... does anyone have an opinion on these things? just want to know if i should even consider them I'm shopping for midbass for my doors in a 3 way active setup, I'm considering JL C7 6.5, ZR 8's, hertz 7" mili's or their 10" SPL. (really just in pre planning stages here) my truck is loud, i like my music loud, i want acceptable quality and clarity in music but have no intention of ever going anywhere near iasca...

  10. im running a rf power hx2 15 d2 on a saz1500 at 1ohm around 1000rms. ok im wondering cause this is my first sub that can handle some wattage and my first "real" amp. which it can kill this sub if i turned the amp up. if i happen to phuk up and kill it is it possible to get a custom recone for my hx2? cause ive searched alot to get one just in case. but i thought about it and if imma get one why not get one with a flatwound coil and stiffer suspension? who/where should i begin to go about getting this done? ****? thought id ask u guys b4 askin them a bunch of questions maybe someone knows a better place

i have a question for all you experts out there i have always heard that room gain starts at the frequency which 1/2 its wavelength is the distance from the subwoofer to the farthest distance of the room of course materials that the room is made of, etc take place but for the example i am going to use lets say there is 0 leaks and really lower resonance of materials used (ex concrete) is room gain greater if the room is 10 feet high by 10 feet wide by 30 feet long and subwoofer placed in a corner (room gain starts at 19 hz i think) 3000 or if the room is 7 feet high by 5 feet wide by 35 feet long and subwoofer is placed in corner (room gain starts at 16hz i think) …

I pulled the box out of my hatch today to find that there's a hole in the surround. Not sure if it was ripped out or rubbed though from having stuff against the sub while playing. I was wondering if it could be repaired by me or would I have to send it in for repair, in which case it wouldn't be worth it since shipped and repair cost would be more than the $100 shipped I paid for the sub. Good excuse to move up to a 10" I guess...if I can't make the repair myself.

I will be building my own box for the subwoofer, however, I would like to know which subwoofer would work best with the amp I have. Infinity Reference 611A 456 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (657 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) Which do you guys think I should go with? I know that a larger box will require the subwoofer to take less power, so, in addition to which subwoofer you think I should go with, what box dimensions should I use? I've heard only good about Mach5 subwoofers, so I want to have my very own

I'm considering getting the HAT Imagine 6.5 component set. I want to run them actively (using a deh860mp) but it appears the crossover is built on the midrange. I know i can simply bypass the connection to the crossover for the tweets but what about the mids?

  19. I have heard a million times that running one voice coil on a sub with multiple coils is wrong. I read an article by Adire Audio years ago and they actually suggested running on one voice coil in certain situations. I also remember that running one VC while "shorting" out the second VC would change woofer characteristics, I believe it raises QTS if I remember correctly. I understand that it would basically halve the power handling of the sub. What else does it do? The article also says something about a sub with 300 watts wasting 298 watts as heat, and only using around 2 as musical energy. Are speakers really, that inefficient? Here's the article if some of you want a g…

One of my Vifa's quit playing last night. Not blown, but was cutting in/out. Wiring is fine. I had this problem with one right out of the box. If you wiggle the speaker lead it'll come back on. I'm actually using this as an excuse to try a new set of tweets I run 2 AA poly mids per door and I'm very happy with them and the Vifa's seemed to compliment them well. I'm no audio snob obviously and not looking for THE best there is. I'd just like to try something a little brighter as I found the Vifa's to be rather laid back, which was fine for most music, but on most rock, the cymbals were very quiet/muted. I don't want "in your face" tweets either, just a step or 2 above w…

I'm looking at putting 2 sealed 12's or 1 ported 12 in the space under rear deck in Lincoln town car. The space is available is 41"W x 10 in H x 16in D. If ported is the way to go I'm going to have to the shop to build it unless you can give me plans to do so. I hate to spend $450 on box. I can do the sealed. Is it recommended to have each sub in it's own chamber(for sealed), or can you just use the whole box for both. Just want to sound good on all types of music. (metal, rap, plain rock, ect.) Any more info needed let me know. Haven't bought amp yet so will buy accordingly. Appreciate any help. I'm open to different subs, especially if they were cheaper and sound good.…
