I have had an old SX laying around for a couple years and finally sold it (with box and amp) to my brother for $200. He was getting it installed today and the guy installing it said one of the VC was reading 0 ohm. I havent been involved with car audio for probably 10years and forgot what little I used to know. Can I fix this or is it now a paperweight? Maybe I am hanging onto nostalgia, but IIRC Resonant Engineering was respected for quality and value before the buyout by US Amps when prices shot up. Furthermore IIRC, the owner of RE went on to found FI car audio, so perhaps they would be the ones to ask? Any feedback would be much appre…

Can anyone recommend some 6.5" components for $200? I need to hurry up and order some before Christmas... The doors are not deadened but the MIGHT be some distant time down the road... I will also get an amp to properly power them... Also, would like to stay away from metal tweets... Will be getting subs in the future... EDIT: When did the shop start selling Diamond Audio? I thought there were no authorized internet dealers? Or did they just get their hands on some so they started selling them? I have been looking at the D661s component set by diamond...

Is this a good idea or no? I have a bandpass box for 2 12's and I just grabbed a couple W-6's Dual 6-Ohm subs and was wondering if anyone had some advice on whether or not to put them in this banpass box. There is a divider in the box so they will both have there own enclosure with 2 ports a piece. I have no idea if these subs can go or are even recommended for this type of box so I know someone on here knows or has tryed this. Anybody who has put W-6's in a Bandpass enclosure please let me know if it sounded ok or what. THanks ANY ADVICE? NEED HELP!!!!

This thing was already in a box when i got it so i decided to just throw it in the car and see how it sounded. The enclosure it's in is pretty beefy but it's sealed, which i know wasn't recommended for that sub. Probably about .85 cubes if i had to guess. Anyway, wired in parallel for final 2 ohm load at the amp. Amp is MTX 81000d rated 1000wrms @ 12.5v and i believe it should be pushing around rated power. Anyway the excursion on this thing is SICK, kinda moves like the old eclipse TI,s. However, I am disappointed in it's output. I have had several single sub setups in different cars, ported and sealed, and honestly, it doesn't seem any louder then a kicker comp 12 w/ a…

I am going to be changing my install around here very soon, and I am going to try to invert mount either my 15a or my Mag, it depends how much vision I lose... I am going to try to recess it so it doesn't affect vision, but nonetheless I was wondering if it was possible to get replacement mounting gasket and magnet cover for the Claw Mag. I think everyone agrees these baskets should be shown off, but there is some glue on these 2 items and I feel it would be an injustice to mount such a nice sub with glue and worn plastic on it. Thanks, Jordan

  11. I have heard amazing things about both of these subs, which is cool. Actually, I have NEVER heard one bad thing. I am curious, how do these two subs compare. I am very much so a noob and know nothing about comparing specs really. All I really do understand is that the Q has a great XMax meaning what, more excursion which could yield more output (bass on the SPL side??)

I am looking at the $25 TC9 motor, for those who do not know what I am talking about they can be found at caraudiojunkyard.com. There are 4 variations of the TC9 motor, which one is this? The only thing I know about them is that they are the ones with the 1" slugs. Is that the same motor that is used on the SS RL-P's? If not does anyone know of a sub that this model TC9 motor is used on? I am trying to figure out which one I am getting. If it is the model on the RL-P's then I might have to get some for sure.

Gotta 92 deville and Im just trying to get the best bang for my buck. The seats dont fold down at all and it has that big ass metal piece blocking most all of the sound from getn into the cabin. So Im looking for a sub that gets loud and is able to take them lows. Im most likely going to have it port tuned at 32-34 hz.. Im leaning towards a fully loaded 12" FI Q, But Ive been looking at the 12 IA LI's also, They seem to get really loud and take the lows... Or possibly a SA 12? Whats ur opinion?

Ok so I have one 12" ssd, with 700 watts, and im upgrading to 1200+ watts with the sundown 1200d v.2. Im not sure if I want to buy another ssd and make a new box, or just replace my existing ssd with one sub that can handle the power (and keep my existing box). I was browsing and found the hifonics olympus "olm1612," which does 1600rms bl=11, mms=204, fs=35.5. Given this sub's fs, can I still tune it to 32hz? And what does everyone think about hifonic's subs? I have always known their products, particularly their amps, to be somewhat cheap and overrated.

Got a friend with an extended cab s-10. He just bought, for a mere 40 dollars, the box(two chambers in one box at about 1.25 cubes a piece), an MTX thunder 6000 12" 8 ohm and a Sony Xplod 1200w 12" 4ohm. He wants SPL and I'm suggesting that he cut out the center divider, build a new front board that has only one 12" hole, and port it. It'd be roughly 2.5 cubes without the displacement of the port and sub. The amp will most likely be something cheap like a Crunch 1200.2. Another problem is that one sub is 8 ohm, and the other 4 ohms...not good?

I'm currently concidering the 327's when they come out, and looking at the specs of the 307's they probably can take a lot of power. Would it be adwiseable to use bi-amping, and will there be a possibility to get crossovers made for the tweeters and midrange separately? I noticed that the SEAS Lotus Reference kit has this as an option, and wonder how you guys at SI would look at this. In home audio bi-amping definitely makes a difference, so it might apply here as well.

  24. yeah, i finally made enough money to order the 15" d2 yesterday. thank god for ebay. anyways, my original plan was to power it with a hifonics brutus 1500 watt amp. id wire the sub to one ohm and get the 1500 watts. then, as i was reading this forum, i saw that other topic about putting 1500 watts to the sub, and how it was said that 1500 is quite a lot. my question is...should i continue with this amp and just set the gains down lower? or should i downgrade to the brutus 1000d amp? this will be a daily driver...so yeah. next question. my box. im lookin for probably 60% spl, 40% sq. so i was thinking about a 4ft^3 ported enclosure, tuned to 32hz. would this sound okay for…

I drive an Eddie Bauer Explorer and just recently added a 12" Icon and Sundown 1000D to it. It had the Mach Audio system in it already. Well with the added bass, the speakers just can't keep up. They were fine with the factory 8" sub but are too weak now. Here's the thing, since it had the premium sound, I can fit 6x8s in my front and rear doors. I listen to mostly metal and rock with a little bit of rap. I'd say like 80/20 rock vs rap. Should I put 6x8s in the doors for extra midbass or should I just use 6.5s? Also, Ill be staying passive on these as SQ isnt a huge priority. Just trying to get more volume on the treble side.
