Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Started by Sickness,

Ive already purchased 1 of 4. Im about to buy the rest when i get the money. Im powering them with a solid audio 2500d, they are dual 4's so it will throw me in .5 ohm, which is pushing around 3kw for me. Question im having is, what size should i make the enclosure. Many have told me to do 5 cubes. Im limited on space, but i want pure SPL, i SQ just isnt my thing, i want numbers only. What would you guys suggest?

I have a 2012 tracker fishing boat. I would like to put a very small and simple system into it. No subs probably just left and right. Amped. Bluetooth deck. Location for the speakers will be lower on the left and right side of the boat. There is actually storage boxes on both sides that run the length of the boat back. Obviously way more air space than what will be needed but they are something that stays closed. That's where speakers will more than likely go. I plan to purchase a lower end pioneer Bluetooth capable h/u. I currently own a few 2 ch amps I can use offering up to 100 rms per channel. I own a set of fosgate power series 2 way 6x9s I could use. My goal for thi…

  5. I've been considering getting one of these subs but I am curious, I'm hoping that they are under rated a bit. And i know it is generally a good idea to over power the subs rather than chance clipping the amp, and I know how quality they are so I must ask will I be safe running one DCON on an Alpine MRP-M650 at 600w? I know that I can always gain down the amp but does anyone think they'd be alright at nearly full power?

  8. I have heard amazing things about both of these subs, which is cool. Actually, I have NEVER heard one bad thing. I am curious, how do these two subs compare. I am very much so a noob and know nothing about comparing specs really. All I really do understand is that the Q has a great XMax meaning what, more excursion which could yield more output (bass on the SPL side??)

Is this a good idea or no? I have a bandpass box for 2 12's and I just grabbed a couple W-6's Dual 6-Ohm subs and was wondering if anyone had some advice on whether or not to put them in this banpass box. There is a divider in the box so they will both have there own enclosure with 2 ports a piece. I have no idea if these subs can go or are even recommended for this type of box so I know someone on here knows or has tryed this. Anybody who has put W-6's in a Bandpass enclosure please let me know if it sounded ok or what. THanks ANY ADVICE? NEED HELP!!!!

  10. I have been doing tons of searching here and on other forums as I try to figure out exactly what I want to go into my next build. My question here is on subs. I have it narrowed down to three choices(til someone decides to throw something else into the mix). Diamond Audio D6, Fi Q, and SSA ICON. I will be using 2 15" drivers in an ex cab ranger. Most likely sealed at about 5 cubes. They will be seeing 1800rms from a T1500-1BD. I like it loud and clear. Tight and accurate all the way down to 40hz and lower. I like flat response, not too crazy peaky(except some hip-hop). I listen to anything, mostly rock though. I am looking to see if anyone can compare the Diamonds to the…

Merry Christmas everyone!! Here`s a card for you all. And have a BASSey NEW YEAR!! BTW: The fluffy puppet thing is known in the U.K. as FLAT ERIC. It was used in a LEVIS jeans advert years ago, bobbing its head to a mad Bassline whilst sitting in a car with its arm resting out the window.

Not my install. I finally made my decision. Stopped draggin' my feet and sent Nick some money. I have a Magnum and a set of 302's on their way soon. I must say that Nick is very patient and awesome to deal with. Of course you guys know this already. Now I just need to get the Magnum hooked up to my PG t1200.1 and the 302's hooked to my PG t500.2. Hopefully this will be a system that I can live with for a long time. Done playing the what do I want in there today game, if you know what I mean.

I Just got the ca clue for my dustcaps and now i finally have 2 working XXX 15s. I jacked my friends sealed box he built for his XXX 15 in a trunk and due to size i have it facing up at an angle. It sounds loud as fudge even running at 1kw and actually keeps up to techno as compared to the ported box i had before (made for an MT so the bar wasnt set high) Anyway i sorta have 2 options interms of a box for me. I can either Try a T-line for a single 15 running off 1kw (only issues are size because its a 32" box and the top of my trunk is only 31"... i sorta want to see if a chitload of sanding may work to give me the angle i need and how well it may work for the XXX because…

For my summer rebuild I'm considering doing either 2x the new Sundown X-12's or some Fi BL's but I'd like some opinions on the BL beforehand. The main thing I'm concerned about is that they'll be too peaky, I ran a pair of them through WinISD in 4 cubes tuned to 32hz and it showed them EXTREMELY peaky and that is not what I want. So anyone that has heard or used these please give some input.

So im brand new to car audio and have been browsing this site as a guess for a while. I have decided on buying a maw-15(one) sub for my setup and am thinking about getting the rf p150, i am just making sure that they would work together nicely. If you have a better suggestion for an amp, i would be glad to hear, however im not looking to spend any more than the 211 dollars the rf amp will cost me. Thanks in advance

  19. For general purposes- is 3 10s in their largest recommended ported box going to be "potentially" louder than 2 12s in their smallest recommended ported box? Power comparison- 10s would receive maximum recommended rms, 12s would receive double recommended but small box would control movement better. I've kinda asked this question many different ways but i am now in a hurry and need to know from u guys who have had experience with just enough volume and just right volume and so on... I am leaning towards the 3 10s just because i fear a just enough volume for 12s would lack low bass even if power is doubled.... It's my opinion so i am looking for facts before i place the wro…

I haven't decided between a 12" and a 15" sub. The old phrase "there's no replacement for displacement" keeps coming into my head when I think of getting a twelve. Right now I have a 15" sub, but I think I'd like to save some space. Obviously bigger subs will go down lower and be audible, but in the 30is-100+hz range. Do 15" subs have any advantage over 12" subs. I'd like to find a sub in the ~$200 range give or take. Would you mind recommending me sub for each size or just one. I'd like to know what I'm giving up and gaining by going 12. Obviously I'm gaining space, and giving up some lowend, but will the size affect the musical range? I'm not looking to burp this setup.

  25. There seems to be a lot of misconception about an infinite baffle, so here goes my stab at it with a link to a forum that has a lot of dedication and experience to them. What I have gathered: A baffle is a board a speaker driver is mounted to. When a speaker is not attatched to anything, and the front and rear wave are completely allowed to go around the driver and are not in any way isolated or coupled, it is free air. When it is on a baffle, the sound waves are forced to travel further to intersect. The smaller the baffle, the higher waves (upper frequencies) are no longer cancelling out as the baffle separates them. As we increase the baffle size, the longer it gets, …
