Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. OK. So I've recently come into a little bit of money (retroactive pay from finally getting a contract). So I booked a trip to Disney world for the FAM and still have a little kicking around so... Was debating either getting: a new subwoofer, a new shotgun, or finishing off a tattoo on my ribs. So, if I went with new subwoofer, I would be looking at a 15" subwoofer, dual 2 ohm coils. I will have 850 watts on tap at 1 ohm (PPI sedona 850.1) and an enclosure that would be 4 cubic feet tuned to 33 hz. My question I guess is will any of the following do well in this enclosure: 1: SSA gcon 15 2: IA lethal injection 15 3: fi ssd 15 Enclosure is already in the vehicle with an r…

so i was searchin around on another forum i go to and i found where dayton just released a new driver. it is their reference series. well recently i had planned on buying a RL-p but i realized i couldnt afford it. so then i decided on an RL-i 10, but now for about $50 less i can get one of these daytona drivers. here is the link: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-464 i was just curious if i would be happy with one of these. i plan on gettin 1 10" whether i go with the dayton or the Rl-i and i will be giving it 400 watts. i mainly want SQ, i want to hit every note, hit it hard, and hit low, loudness isnt much of a factor. i would be perfectly happy w…

  7. Okay the title says it all. This summer i'm going to put my RL-P in a fiberglass box (my first one, and yes I'm doing lots of research now). My question has to do with the compostion of the box. I've heard that nearly all fiberglass boxes contian quite a bit of wood (the glass is usually just for an ascetic front) and I've heard that 100% fiberglass (minus the mounting ring) usually sound really bad or "hollow". With that said, do you agree (considering the glass will he hella stiff, I'm going to overkill this thing). If including wood does make it sound better, do you have any rough estimates on percentage. Could I get away with glassing in and exposing a few sections of…

my plan was to run a single 15 sealed in about 2.3cuft. i did some more measuring last night and i could maybe get 3cuft. i may have to rethink my amp mounting. so i narrowed it down to an Fi 15Q (will work if i go sealed), Fi 15SSA, (will not work sealed), and the DC level 3 15 (sealed or ported). my amp will run 800rms at 4ohm, 1600peak. i am interested in the level 3 15; it is the lowest rated sub in the group. are those numbers conservative? i did pm rusty. he said it would run fine at that level sealed. how are hard have those who own one pushed it? am i really losing much going sealed. i guess i am gun shy. thanks.

I'm running my options and these are to be run of the sub channel of an AX5600 (don't know the exact sub, was told around 6-700w@ 1 ohm) i would prefer the mounting depth the to be 6" and under (preferrably skinnier the better, but if it will proved better performance, im all for up to 6.5. I would like to keep the airspace around 1.5 cubic ft sealed choices so far are (in no particular order): 1 10 or 12" SE 1 12" FI SSD 2 10" FI x1 V2 2 Soundsplinter RL-i 1 2 10" Sundown Sd1's 2 12 or 10" Mach 5 MAW 10's for the RE's i would be staying with the optimal sealed enclosure for the SSD i am staying with the recommended box specs of 1.1 cubes with the Copper coil + soft sp…

I'm expanding my research here so i can get the pros and cons of different equipment. In an earlier thread, Dave Brooks and other suggested i use HLCDs with 4Kw of bass so i don't drown out the stock tweeters that wouldnt be there by that time anyway. Anyway, i came across another gadget, a Horn Loaded tweeter with specs as good, if not Better than Image Dynamics HLCDs. These tweeters cost a little less, but i have questions on the technology in general, not really the product itself. Here is info - http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc...p;idproduct=363 Efficiency - 107Db @1W/1M 50wrms I tried to find some research on them and i found a little but do not know if i…

How does this sealed box look for a 12" Magnum D2? I wanted 1.25 cu ft but w/ driver displacement I need 1.35 cu ft. 2333 cu in. = 1.35 cu ft H" x W" x D" 12.5 x 21.75 x 12 - External 11 x 20.25 x 10.5 - Internal 1.25 lbs polyfil Is that too much polyfil? Not enough? I tried to stay as close to the golden ratio as possible but I don't want the box to be more than 12.5" high. So does it look good?

between these three subs..... 1) sid2 12" 2) re sx12" 3 re xxx12" the sub i chose will be pushed by a hifonics bx1500d @ 1 ohm(whooohooo 1500wrms!!) and put into a ported enclosure( recommmended by the manufactor, of course) in the trunk of my wife's grand prix. i am looking for loud and clean and a price in the $300-$350 range. since this is the wife's car, i want to try something different, ie..no JL, rf,treo, memphis, eclipse, clarion, diamond or anything i can get from local dealers. so..any other suggestions? i will be buying in the next week or so! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  21. 1999 mercedes benz kompressor c230 I plans are to stay full IA apart from components/coaxials via CDT. But I don't consider this a car really "usable" for spl so i'm at a loss as to what I should go for now, original plans were 6 10" 187 in a s10 extended cab on a new 20.1 but... didn't go that route and this is what I ended up with for 3000 dollars. Hey, it's a benz I still would like to do the 20.1 down the road but i'm at a total loss as to what subs to try now as room/trunk would be an issue, never had a trunk car so i'm unsure how those setups work exactly. Anyone have any suggestions as to what size/sub to try ( sticking with IA ) to give me the bass i'd like but …
