Subwoofers / Speakers

Have a 12" GCON in a sealed box. It sounds great but I am wanting more and I know the sub will give it to me if I can put it in the right enclosure. I used the ICON enclosure design for the sealed box it is in now, would the ICON ported design work well for the GCON as well? It falls into the optimal range, 2.5f^3 tuned to 33hz. It is a 2 ohm sub with 500 watts powering it in the trunk of a '96 accord. I have about 32" x 20" x 18" to work with. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a ported box design that will work well with the GCON?

I have purchased a Mag D2 15 and am trying to find the specs on it so I can build a box for it while I wait on Fedex. I'm sure it's been posted a million times somewhere and I apologize if it has. I am finding a ton of info on the new Mags though Can anyone point me in the right direction or hook me up with some specs please? Need to know what size ported box they like, Cutout diameter, Mounting Depth, and anything else that would be useful to me. If I can't find info I was just gonna do 4 cubes at 33hz. As the topic says I just got my first SD12 and had 2 questions First: rms is 500 watts is that total or per coil? Second: do I have to break the sub in or just fire it up and go to town? Thx for the input guys

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using a car audio sub in a home theater setting? I will be getting a Crown amp that is somewhere aroung 4k - 5k watts so power shouldn't be too much of an issue. I was mostly looking at building a box for a single 15" since the box for a 18" jumps up in size considerably. Any info and/or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Eric

My sub stage is complete for now, made 138.2 on music Meca style with bass turned down on the head unit. (didn't notice this until after I metered it.) Now I need to upgrade the fronts. The audioque set with their amp looks nice, but is there better for the money? Budget is $500.

ok i know ive bugged a few of you guys enough but before i go and drop 2000+ on a new system i want to make sure im getting something that will most defiantly be the loudest chit on the block. I am leaning way towards 2 18" btls fully loaded running off a RF t40001bd. what would you guys go with that will still maintain a decent sq and pick up lows fully without distortions.

i need a subwoofer or two that will fit in a 2cu.ft. sealed box with 6 1/2" of mounting depth and i would prefer two 12's but i am open to all suggestions. i like it to be more spl , i no it is a ported box but i would like SPL over SQ so i need help plz

hey there.. i have made some mistakes on my box and now i am attempting to fix it. i need to know the displacement of an aq hdc3 15. side note: my box is unintentionally tuned at 30hz.. re-tuning will be at about 38hz.. will i hear a noticeable difference in audible sound after the re-tune??

So my cousin sold me his RE SE 12 for 60 dollars saying it was popped well it's not realy popped but the coils are pretty dark. So either way I am going to RECONE it from FI. I am planning to throw 1000wrms what options should i add for that extra power handling. So I just picked up a used sub and Im trying to figure out what it is, any ideas?

I am trying to stray my stepfather from going mainstream again and he wants a pair of kicker cvr's which I hear are good subs. But I see that the Maw's are cheaper and heard they sound better any way he is looking to through them in a sealed box as all he really likes is nice rear fill something to give him that nice kick drum in the rear as he listens to a lot of go-go music. Well some of you may be confused as to what is go-go music and the best way I can put it is this way imagine rock n roll with alot of percussions , bass guitars, keyboards, singer, rapper, and they do a lot of covers. I have the MOJOs right now ran by a Hifonics Brutus 2100.d. Now i know thats not enough for them but in general with a custom box and either same amp or a saz-1500, could i get a little louder with the sundown SA-12s since ill actually be putting enough power to them? Also this would be in a 2000 ford explorer, so if anyone has witnessed a similar setup with 2 sa-12s in a explorer it would be great if you give feedback. thanks

well i still havnt decided on what i want to get in my truck. i drive a 03 toyota tundra access cab and will be removing the back seat for the box. i plan on doing the big 3 and getting a kinetic battery to help the electrical. as far as music, i listen to everything so i want the sub to sound well and i want it to be loud. something that can play all ranges of bass and be loud, not only certain spots. sorry if i dont make sense i dont know how to word what im thinking. i was thinking of a single 15" and saw the ssa 15" xcon. would this be what i am looking for?

Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

So i received my xcon just now... and i was checking it over and there are no mounting holes in the surround.. do i just drill out where the hole is in the frame? ( there are mounting holes in the basket and the gasket just not where the surround is)

I have 2 MJ18ms and yesterday i noticed it wasnt geting low as it used too, I noticed it yesterday night around 1 am and it was freezing cold it was ice on my roof, and I had to tug at the door to open it I played songs that would shake the entire car and it just wont do it. I had to put sub out to 15 (max on my alpine) to get it to do anything like it used to I normally have it at 8 whats going on Is my amp dying or what? cant be my ears, becuse I can feel my system

I`m a newbie here at this forum so be paitent with me...I need to know what size port to use on a 12 mag tuned to 32 hz? how do i convert square inches into w x h x l for the port i will be using a slot port Nick said that i would need a least 24 square inches...correct me if i`m wrong but would`nt 24 sq inches be like 12" x12" or 12^2?

Has anyone on here tried the Boston G5 12 inch sub? I got one the other day (cheap)brand new and haven't hooked it up to anything yet-just wanted peoples opinion's. I heard a pair on a JL 1000/1 at a local stereo shop-and I thought they sounded great (even on there display wall). I have a 1000/1 sitting around and was thinking about trying that combo in my Mariner? I have a baby on the way and probably will need to take my 15's out from time to time-so the box will be lighter to take in and out. Just wondered if anybody had tried them before-Thanks

Hi, so I'm doing a build of two icon 15's in my dodge Dakota crew cab, I have one set of amped hertz hsk components in my doors and just got a second set and wondering if I should put.a second set in the front doors or the second set in the rear doors? I'll have them both amped with about 75rms each. Looking for sound quality and what will have best staging Thanks,
