Right now I am running 2 polk momo 12's single vc, in sealed 1 cube boxes behind my seat. I am thinking of switching to 1 12 in a ported box and adding 2 8's for some more midbass. I dont have the room to port both subs. The sealed box are fine but I listen to a wide range of music, sometimes they dont hit the low low notes as well as I want them. I was just wonder if there was any suggestions about the quality of sound or should I just suck it up. I dont want to cut the back wall or anything, though I am thinking about modding the rear speaker spots on the wall behind the door/ seat for the 8's. I have a good sound for the most part it s just hitting the hard low notes…

I know I normally hate people that do this, but I need some help and time is important. So to barge into forums and throw out some questions, here goes. I'm going to buy one Fi BTL 18" sub. I am hoping to eventually get two, but that may or may not happen. I do not want to spend more than $600 to amplify the one, or two of them. I have found some pretty cheap (and at the same time nice looking) amps from sound storm laboratories, on a trusted website (sonicelectronix). The first amp has a 3400 watt at 1 ohm power handling, and 2200 watt at 4 ohm power handling. (link: http://soundstormlab.com/main/620) The second amp has a 2550 watt at 1 ohm power handling, and 1800 wa…

So I know that the output of any system is going to be install dependent. However, because I don't have the opportunity to hear any of these subs in person, I was hoping that maybe someone could tell me (read guess) which setup would be the loudest, in general. I am considering running one of the following setups in the trunk of my Sonata. (2) 12" SSDs w/ copper coils sealed with SAZ-1500D (1) 12" loaded BL ported @ 32Hz with SAZ-1500D (1) 15" Q sealed with unknown amp If I can muster the strength to spend more than I really want, I might also consider (2) 12" Qs sealed with 2 SAE-1000Ds. Basically I have decided (arbitrarily) that I would like to play somewhere in the mi…

I have been looking for some mid bass speakers and these caught my eye, I'm wondering if anyone out there has used them if so how did you like them? I would be using them in a 3way passive set as the woofer, crosser over points are 500hz and 3.5hz off a R/F P400-2. They are on eBay for what I believe to be a reasonable price. I wonted to post the eBay link but was not sure how. thanks for any and all replies.

  8. This is just a question out of curiousity. In the past I had a few different pair of sealed 12s. I have had Orion P12s, JL W3D4 12s and now SSA dcon 12s. IMO the dcon 12s don't get that loud sealed. The P12s & W3D4s I had were louder (I know the dcons may own either ported). Kicker subs also tend to be capable of getting loud sealed. What other pairs of 12 inch subs tend to get loud and sound good in the 500 watt power range sealed?

I've been trying to find a set of component speakers with good sound quality and that can get LOUD...if thats possible. I've been looking closely at two sets: -RE Audio XXX 6.5s *Power Handling: 150 Watts RMS *Impedance: 2 Ohms -Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs *Power Handling: 60 watts RMS *Impedance: 4 Ohms Ive seen many threads that promote the PG's but im just wondering if the RE's would be a better buy? The RE's are quite a bit more expensive...but also have a higher wattage. Thanks!

I blew one of my mids (Cadence CWM-6). I'm pretty strapped with cash, so I'm either looking at getting a set of the PG RSd comps or getting a pair of MLI-65's and run those with the current Cadence crossover and tweeter. Not sure how that butchered combo will work though, the Cadence rep I contacted wasn't willing to share crossover specs so I have no idea what they are. Also, the Cadence tweeters are very bright for silk domes and I heard the MLI-65's have great midbass but their upper midrange performance isn't very pronounced, so they may not do too well with a bright tweeter. Any opinions?

Looking to upgrade front stage with some new components. I have it narrowed down to two: SA-6.5CS, or Focal 165A1-SG. Have heard nothing but good things about both brands but have no personal experience with either. Any feed back? I know Focal makes an awesome product but is their lower end line as impressive as their expensive stuff? I'm looking for something that will sound good playing a variety of music. Will one be more versitile than the other? Or am I better off just flipping a coin?

I currently have a 1974 dodge charger. it only has one speaker in the front. And some crapily installed rear 6x9's I'll be fixing later. But for now. I'm doing an install of a center console I've built with an aftermarket head unit. Not wanting to cut anything up. I'm going to stick with the one front speaker for right now. Then build something to house 2 smaller speakers displaying the sound out the hole for the one that was there before. But for now. I"m sticking with the one. So is there any way to hook both the left and right front speaker outs up to this one speaker? And if so. Would it sound good like this? both sound from the right channel and left channel would co…

Ok, so I'm about to have some graduation money and I'm thinking about starting my new setup. I would like to go with a single 10" this time though, and go ported still I believe. I think the amp of choice will be an orion 1200D. So let's say I have a max of $350 to spend on this sub. My box right now is 2cubes net, I'm not sure how much more space I could get, I could go longer but I would have to go down in how tall the box can be. so just keep all those factors in please.

  16. i have 2 infinity reference 6x9's hooked up to a 40x4 sony 4 channel amp, they are loud as hell but have no bass but if i turn up the bass on my cd player it distorts like crazy, the only way they sound good is if i put the balance either all the way to the right or all the way to the left. but in the middle, no bass. What should i do to fix this problem, ive tried alot of stuff already.

ok so im starting to think that i should move up into class street b, just because there is more competition aorund here for that and im sick of not competing against anyone (that is except like a single 12" type r), so right now i have 1 12" fi audio bl in the trunk of a cavalier, tuned to 34 hz on 1800 wrms. what i want to do is be very competitive in street b for db drag. however i really want it to be a ground pounder and hit those lows, so i was thinking a 28-30 tune for daily and a 40-42 hz tune for comps. but what i really want to know is which ten inch subs should i go with? the ones that pop into my head are fi bl, fi q, dc sumthing, or audio que hdc3. i dont…

So I have been rebuilding my system over the past month and have had the subs in and out of the enclosure testing the fit and where I need to go to move forward. I noticed today that the top slug, AA Havoc 12", is mis aligned roughly a 16th of an inch from the others. The coil isn't rubbing anywhere within normal stroke, but I am concerned about this causing issues later after they are installed. Here is a pic. Do you think I should just send it back and have it repaired? Will it be ok? Will it effect performance? I have never had this happen before, so any help would be appreciated. Chris
