Thinking about picking up this sub. Oz Audio Matrix Elite 15" . I think its rated at 700 rms- my amp ,boston gt-28, puts out 1100x1 @ 2 ohms which is what this sub would be wired for -2 ohms- since it is 4 ohm dvc. Would this be a good match?

I was wondering what people thought about subs facing upward in a sedan trunk. I'm planning on getting a 12" icon but I wouldn't mind having the 15". Problem is that I don't think the trunk in my 97 corolla would be tall enough having the sub standing up. It would be going in a sealed box. I feel like there would be more trunk rattle if I laid the sub down. I see videos where the sub is literally firing into the trunk from an inch away. Would lying the sub make it harder to hear in the front of the car? It seems like there would be a greater chance for cancellation or the sound waves would just get bunched up between the trunk and cone. Separate question but i've always b…

I'm working on trading for a soundstream xxx 15. It still has the tarantula on the dust cap, so I'm assuming it hasn't been reconed. Were there any different versions? Are they all made by TC. Anything I need to look at besides measuring the coils, checking the color of the coil, and checking for any mechanical noise?

Well, just got a new demo vehicle for the business. A 04 Alero....yeah sounds like a grandma car but its the coupe and is quite fun. I hope it has a good alty that can handle the system. But the trunk it kinda small. Any idea on how to mount the subs in order to get two 12in subs in there or should i just stay with one 12?

Where can I buy these Mach Audio MLI6.5? Not in the SSA store right only from the mach5audio.com website? I am also going to get some seas tweeter. I have an eclipse ea4000 so the woofers will be getting 75rms each and so will the tweeters. My headunit is a sony cd700 or whatever with graphic equalizer etc.... can I go active with it? Just with the headunit? This is my dumb idea. Cross everything over at 75hz and then play the woofers and mids, but obviously that isn't right? Anybody give me a hand or point me in the right direction if I'm doing this right? -Andres

  7. Not sure if this has been asked before. But I have been considering going with a 15" mag. I know ported is louder. I am just wondering how much or if you loosing power handling going ported. I know that different size sealed boxes do change your power handling. Smaller boxes will require more power do to the compression the speaker is under when it pulls back for a bass hit. Also thinking about going with 34hz tune if I do go ported. What amp would guys recommend for a setup like that and i dont plan on going to a bass comp. But wouldn't mind having the power to show off once in a while.

I've got two Havoc 15's for my extended cab ford ranger. I want to build a box for them but I'm debating between ported and sealed. I know ported can sound good, but there are certain advantages a sealed box will always have. (such as transients) I listen to primarily rock music. I have about 8cu ft available, and two 15s. How should I go about designing or choosing a box?

I have a 12" D2 in a sealed prefab box that is about 1.35 cuft afetr displacement. I am running it off of a Memphis PR1000. The subs sounds good but I think it could sound better and get a little louder. Right now it gets a little too "boomy" for my tastes. Here are two box types that I have been considering, please help me decide. The first box is 2.0 to 2.3 cuft sealed. The second box is about 2.0 ported to about 27hz. I don't want to be too loud but I would like some good output form this speaker while still sounding very good. Could you give the the good and bad of each box and maybe compar them to each other. Oh yeah and it is going in a mustang if that helps. Thanks

hey guys! Here's the dealio. I currently run an 18" BL tuned to 35Hz and am looking to upgrade. Its in a tiny tiny box, (maybe 5 cubes) and I know I need more space, but i cant make anymore in my trunk so I'm switchign it out! Here's what i have to work with. Sundown 1500D for my amp around 4.5 cubes, maybe upto 5 max if I need it biggest sub size i can fit in there is a 15" I don't really have a budget...maybe $400 max for the sub(s). Goals for this are to have a little bit more lower end output (will be tuning to around 32Hz for new box) What are some good sub reccomendations?? I've been looking along the lines of...SSA Icon, Fi BL(15"), Sundown Nightshade( possibly...b…

How much volume is occupied by the mj-18 driver? Are the recommended box volumes the internal volume of the box, or is it the internal volume minus the drivers volume? Thanks

Wha's good? Um, I'm new to this site but I'm going to get str8 to business. I have a 2000 Lincoln LS and I'm thinkingof buying a BTL 12. Is this a decent set up along with a power acoustik 3000D, and if so, what type or box should I use?

I am running a 12 inch SSD sub sealed in a 1 cubic foot box. I was wondering what any of you fill your sealed boxes with? I remember reading about polyfil and stuffing and am just curious on what this does and how it effects the sound.

if i remember right theses mids were designed more for IB than anything, like being used in the door rather than in a small kick panel? i had them for about a year till i recently got some hsk's. but anyway, mine are sitting around so im making some book shelf or small towers out of them for my friends new place. how big of an enclosure would suite it? or i could just port it then tune somewhere above the fs of the mid. if ported whats a general tuning? never built ported book shelfs so whats the deal?

I got a new car last year and was not going to put a sub in this car because I don't want to loose the room but I can't take it anymore so it time to find the right sub. I have a Phoenix Gold Xenon 600.1 to run what ever sub I get. so I have 600-800 wrms to give it. I want to run 1 10" sub sealed in a small box say .5- to may be 1 foot. I have had PG subs in the past and liked them a lot. I tried a RE SE12 a few years back RPLI12 and 8s. I had the 12 ported and they did get low but for some reason I like 10s better so I ened up with 2 PG rsd 10s in my last car. I listen to all kinds of music. So I see SSA has a new sub coming out soon so I was thinking about the GCON a S…

okay, this is going to be a shot in the dark.a guy came up from Louisville, to a local car audio competition here in Evansville. He was in the sound quality portion. he drives a mitsubishi montero. he said he owns a shop down in louisville. anyway, he let me listen to use front of components and I was extremely amazed at how well they sound. he said they were made by guy in georgia. he told me their name, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was. I believe it was audio something. I know this is an extreme shot in the dark but, can anyone help me figure out what these are? they hadreally nice midbass, they sounded amazing. Scroll to the bottom where I asked about EBP and QTS because I still don't know which to look at. You'll understand once you read the question, thanks.

I already have one rl-i8 soundsplinter but i worried that I won't get enough out of it (not in car yet) so ive been lookin at porting it I can't go any bigger then 1 cube after port. it will get 400watts. I would just get one more and do two sealed but I can't afford another one. I have never built a ported box before, what size chamber and port do I use? can I just build one like this guy? this would fit in where I want it. at 400watts would this get plenty loud? want to hit at least 135db. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246811 thanks all before hand
