I'm thinking of just scratching my previous posts and might go for a single 15 ported. I want a loud setup with good SQ. You all probably know what amp I have by now (JBL GTO 1201.1 II puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms). I'm having a b!tch of a time picking a 15 being there are soo many good ones. So far I want a 15 that'll sound good, get loud and drop low in 3 cubes ported. So far these are what I'm trying to decide between. I know all probably sound good but which would get louder? Also what should I tune to? I plan on placing an order for one of these this weekend. 1 SSA Icon 15 1 SS RL-p 15 1 Fi Q15

Okay, so I have a RE SX, I have had it for a year now and I am kinda getting sick of it. So, I was wondering. What kind of difference would it make going to a DC Level 4? I will be running 1000 watts to it. Would I be happier? I like good, loud, clean bass.. but who doesn't?

Hello, I currently Have a Fi 18" BTL fully loaded, and have the opertunity to trade for a SI 15" Mag and possibly a Ed NINe.1. I know the sound is very install dependent, but would I notice an increase in sound quality? Also would the Mag be able to come anywhere close the SPL of a btl? I would probably run it in a 3-4 cuft box tuned to 33hz, or purchase a second mag and run it in a 5 cuft sealed box, each sub has a 2.5cu ft chamber.

Hi all, So a month or so ago I was driving around listening to my system and had a young kid in my backseat and he kicked my amp rcas breaking them half off in the amp. Long story short my mids on my Hertz HSK components blew when I turned it up not realizing this and now sound like crap. I currently don't have the budget to go out and spend $500 on a new set. Problem is I loved these speakers and really don't want to downgrade much if possible so my only real option I see is going active. My System currently: In a 2003 Dodge Dakota Crew cab. Ok first off no flaming me please. My current setup is two 12" shallow mount Pioneer subs (sealed down firing) and a Hifonics Gladiator amp...wired 750rms @ 2 ohm. My problem is lately I've noticed a smell which I can only assume is voice coil, and I've been feeling like my output is not what it use to be. When I first had this installed it was hitting very hard and clean. My rear view mirror looked like it would fall off, and my ears would ring it was so low. Very clean, no bottoming or rattle and I loved it. But the guy who installed it set the gain by ear and I always thought he just turned knobs to appease me for whatever reason instead of setting where it should be…

  6. Hello guys, how's it going? I've been banging with my DCON 12s for a while now and am thinking of stepping up my bass output. I have the DCON's in 1.75 cubes each tuned to 33hz (that's about what I could fit). For what it's worth they have served me pretty well and I've been told my many people they pound. I have them powered by a RF T500. What I'm considering is either 1 Xcon 12 ported or 1 Xcon15 sealed or 2 Sundown SA-12's in an enclosure around the same size I currently have. Either would be powered by a Sundown SAZ-1500D V.2.

Currently have a 12" Ethos in a ported (aero-port) 1.75 cu ft enclosure. It's being powered by a Crescendo 1500.1. No complaints with the Ethos. I've just been considering downsizing on the box. First thought was to toss it in to a sealed setup, but then I might end up being disappointed from the output. Other thought was to consider moving towards either two 10's or 12's in a sealed setup. Looking at a few options, it seems like I can get down in the 1.0 cu ft range with using two 10's. Since the 10's would likely put me in to the desired box size, any recommendations on this? Would this potentially be a signaficant downgrade from the single Ethos? Curious to …

Right now I have an Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz being powered by a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms. What I'm thinking of trying is a sealed 18 in 4 cubes and powering it with a Sundown SAE-1200D. It's just a thought. I have had sealed setups and liked them before and never tried an 18 before. So far I'm looking at either a Fi Q 18 or SS RL-p 18.

  9. Hey just want some guidance and suggestions. I have type-r's which I'm really starting to get sick of. The 6.5 is in stock location and tweeter is flush mounted in the door. All I really want to do is replace it, and not change the locations. I want component set with a passive crossover which has good sound quality. My price range is around $400. But give me some suggestions in the 300-200 price range as well. I know anything will sound better then these Alpines. I need the new tweeter to fit into the hole which is there for the type-r tweeter. The dimensions of the type-r are Tweeter Mounting Diameter (in): 2'' Tweeter Mounting Diameter (mm): 51mm Tweeter cannot be s…

Hey guys, i've been thinking about upgrading to a different sub, but i cant decide what i want. Right now i have a SSD 12, which i am very happy with sq wise, and it does get decently loud, but not as loud as i would like. Im looking to stay with the 1 12 set up, or possibly 1 15, so what would you guys say would be a good choice to get as loud as possible. I've been thinking maybe a BL or something similar. I would like to keep the price around 400 or under. Thanks.

I am building a box in my wheel well. In the wheel well there is a small bracket that is where the spare tire is secured down. If I were to place a pipe in the middle of my box, to be used as a pass through where a long screw would go through to secure the box down. I would silicone it of course, I just want to know if there is any sort of petential problem music wise. See the attached for an idea of what i am talking about.

  14. So I know, I know.... "no VS threads" .... Not totally sure whether this completely falls under that but here we go.... So, I've realized I made the wrong decision for tweeters in my car... LPG aluminum tweets .... Cannot be crossed lower than 4k and that is with lower power/lower volume.... 5k is much better.... This will not work for me anymore... I've learned that now and need to move onto something better for me... Currently using my Pioneer HU for active setup and going through a MB Quart 4.125 .... I am looking at these guys: Vifa NE25VTS-04 Morel CAT 378 I have been eyeballing the Vifa for quite some time now but not pulling the trigger just yet.... The Morel c…

Hey i am new. I was wondering if the sub woofer brands on this site are more reliable then lets say kicker and audiobahn. I am an audiobahn guy and have my system deck out. I never knew about sites like this because they are not in retail stores around here. I was just hoping to get some insight on why these subs are so much cooler them mine and they aren't every where.

I wanted a 15" D2 so bad back in the day when SI got robbed Now I just realize they now produce them, which makes me very sad. Why? I recently ordered a 15" XXX and it should be here very SOON. Now the question is, do I use it for a while then sell it and get a D2, or sell it brand new un-opened? Either way I lose money

Okay, so I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with installs on a toyota prius. I've researched a little bit and can't find all that much. I'm looking to maybe get two SSA GCON 12s. And I'd like to get around a 1300 watt amp to power them. But I'm not sure how much a Prius can handle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

  22. Recently purchased a Avionixx AXT-1200.2 for a great price off ebay. Now I have matching amps . Well within minutes of receiving the package, I install the amp which takes 15 minutes tops... Fire it up, have some trouble find I had set it on High pass instead of Low pass :thud: .. But get everything straightened out and let her rip. best way to describe what happened next : WOW.... I really wasn't expecting a HUGE gain from 400 to 1200 watts, but boy, this thing just drops LOW in the ported box... Just when I think I have the claw all figured out, throws me a curveball, almost makes me want to get into SPL Thanks Nick for such a wonderful product that just keeps g…

  23. So, I was browsing around on Parts Express, and found these.... http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=296-220 ...I am sure from the $170 (each) price tag they are some amazing little drivers, but still the specs amazed me...12 mm Xmax and supposedly flat response from 40-20000 Hz...in a 3" driver...CRAZY!

  25. Hey guys i was just wondering what you guys thought of the I.D.MAX-D4 or the I.D.MAX-CRD4? they seem like they are pretty good subs but im not really sure how they would be. I really like I.D., i have some 6.5 components up front and they are amazing. i have them running off of a sax 125.2. But i dont really know anything about their subs. Im in the market to upgrade my Sub. I have a dual 4 12" Alpine type-r running off a Saz 1000d. I really like the Sundown subs, and SSA subs, but want to get some opinions on the I.D. subs if anyone has any experience with them.
