Hey guys i'm looking for a set of components. With the $500 im playin around with, I figure I can buy a new sub amp, probobally a viper 1200.1 for my subs. I will use my 300 wRMS x2 amp to power some components, which seems like a lot but i think I could get by with gains set low. do u guys think thats safe? anyway my budget for comps is less than $200. I will be installing the mids in my doors, imaging isnt a major concern for me, and I cant build kicks anyway. I'm pretty sure I will do some sound deadening, so I need comps that will do well infinite baffle. midbass is pretty important to me, and I can't stand harsh-sounding tweets, so I guess that means a silk tweeter i…

Hello, i've been looking around on these forums trying to find a decent 5.25 component set. I found a guy that decided about the dreamline and have heard people praise these before as well (people seem to really enjoy rainbow). I will be unable to make my own kicks(no faith in myself), and do not have anyway to have them made by someone else near me (sucks). I realize putting these speakers in kicks are going to be my best option of placement. So therefore i'm going to have to go with q-forms ( i will be putting sound deadening in them, i heard it helps ) and the max they can hold is about a 5.25. The speakers i put in them will also need to work well IB, obviously. I wil…

OMG!!! this thing is INSANE! i have the gains so so extremely conservative. only to aprox 30v asumeing an impeadance rise to around 3ohms im only getting 300-400w. and my roof is "only" flexing 1/4-1/2"....my dome light is "only" moving 1/16th (or so). not too many rattles but it hasnt gotten very loud yet either. the main test song has been "push that" but little john. no rock yet (im still amazed with its loudness wiht only 300-400w). it is overpowering my componets like they are nothing. speaking is impossible. and in the low lows (30Hz area, near tuning) the pressure changes are starting to take effect (as far as the funny breathing). not the loudest ive been in but d…

okay, that part I get, but does it have to be the SAME sub? make/model? I'm thinking of mixing RE SE 12 and JL 12w6v1's of all things. Each pair would be in their own ported enclosure, separate chamber, common box thing. Asking for trouble?

I know most of you guys over here are all for SI and SS and it doesn't seem like you get much talk over here about RE. Well my question involves RE, and I'd appriciate some input... I drive a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. I was going to pick up a set of 12" RE SEs and port them at 33 Hz. I was going to use the following box deminsions: 36" length 13.5" height 23.5" depth Well today I measured and made some what of a template to see how big the box would be in my Explorer. Everything is fine except I don't want it so deep. I've talked with a few guys from RE or who know alot about them and they said I couldn't really make it any smaller. Is that true? Or Should I go with a singl…

im pretty sure that i want to go with infinity kappa speakers to match my 463.7 front speakers that sound AWESOME. right now i have a plate made for 4 4's that i have 4 proaudio speakers in it, that sound alright, but 2 of them are blown. so im probably either going with 2 693.7i kappa 6x9s, or 4 42.7i kappa 4's. im kind of leaning towards the 4's sounding better, what do you all think?

What are your opinions on this sub? in my case, it is $48 cheaper than a RL-p (both being 15s). idk if im down with the 1000w rms though. do you folks think they will hit pretty much the same dbs in general, just one will sound nicer than the other?

Well I'm writing this for anyone who might care. I'll go through the steps of how to take apart a speaker(with pics of course). Here are the supplies. 1 Koda6 (thank you Nick), 1 bottle of CA unbonding glue, and a utility knife First, run the knife around the edge of the surround to separate it from the basket. The Koda has a stretchy rubber surround so it didnt really cut so well. Then, just cut the speaker leads. And detach the spider from the basket. This was the tricky part. I found that although being soaked in the CA unbonding glue for a few minutes, it just woundn't budge. So i just took the knife to that as well. It was quite flimsy and easy to cut. An…

I was thinking of using my current Mag15 in a HT setup once I get my new Mag in. Unless I sell this one first. How do you think it would do? I assume it would kick ass, especially considering the sq. I have also read where people usually double the box size when doing a HT install. Is this neccasary? Or would 4-5cuft ported still do?

well got my Si Mag 12 about 5 days ago now and it rocks. I'm using it in place of my 160v.2 for right now. The 160v.2 is nice but i'm having space issues and the Mag does a very good job in place of it. Lacks a little bit of the output i had but i think two of them will do nicely. But strangest thing is, when i called them i noticed they had the same area code as me! They are like 20mins from me!! Thats awesome. I hope i can go and meet them.

I am sure it has been asked before, but I am looking for some real experiences with midbass drivers. I snagged a set of Rainbow Pro components (4" and tweet) cheap and am looking for something to give the midbass some foundation. I have used MB Quart exclusively for about 17 years and just switched to Focal about a year ago. i am interested in RE, DD, Seas Lotus, or anything in that range. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Kevin Oh yeah, they will be mounting in the doors of my truck (see sig) along with the 4's and the tweets in the pillars.

I am building a box in my wheel well. In the wheel well there is a small bracket that is where the spare tire is secured down. If I were to place a pipe in the middle of my box, to be used as a pass through where a long screw would go through to secure the box down. I would silicone it of course, I just want to know if there is any sort of petential problem music wise. See the attached for an idea of what i am talking about.

My friend has an older Mag and I have a newer one. I wsa thinking of getting the older one and running it with the new one. Will this cause a problem, especially if they're in a common chamber box? Also how much power will it need...how does a Concept CC-D1200 sound?

As title states, Equipment: -Alpine 9835 in 3-way mode, HP for Tweets, BP for Mids, LP for Subwoofer. 6/12/18/24 dB/oct slopes at various FREQ's. - RE XXX 6.5's currently in .25-.3 cubes SEALED door pods. (2ohm) -Vifa 1" Neodymium Textile Dome autosound Tweeters. (6ohm) -Kicker KX 600.4, 150x2rms for mids @2ohms, ~45-50 x2rms for Tweeters. I haven't even turned it on yet, but currently I have it setup as follows: Sub: LP @63hz 24dB/oct Mids: HP @63hz 24dB/oct, LP @2.5Khz 24dB/oct Tweets: HP @2.5Khz 24dB/oct I would like input as far as the FREQ/SLOPES go, ESPECIALLY the slopes. Is it ALWAYS good to go with steep slopes for ALL settings? Is it better to use say, 12,18 dB/o…

I want to have a port that is out side of my box but I also want a port that runs along the contours of the side of my hatch. This will make for a port that is shaped like "~". Is this a problem so long as I make sure that the port is exacly "x" cubic inchs? What sort of problems could I encounter? Thanks Jerry
