Subwoofers / Speakers

Mark or anybody that can answer, I have an mj18 that recently got a hole knocked in the surround and the dust cap crushed in, the speaker still sounds good but I would like to fix these issues if possible. Can I resurround the mj and put a new dustcap on it? How much for the parts, we have resurrounded speakers before just not the MJ. Thanks!

Im wondering what sub i should use with a Kicker ZX750.1 . Im gonna be getting the amp with my next check (i hope) and im wondering what sub i should use with it. Im looking for a single sub setup and prefer using a 12". I have a RE SE atm but i was wondering if there is somthing that will do good off this power, 750 rms @ 2ohm. Ill be using ported and have a good amount of space for a box. My budget is around 200 for a sub. I want somthing thats gonna sounds loud to the ear, dont realy care about on the mic (dont think there are many comps around my area anyway). So I'm thinking of getting the Lvl 4 12" for my single cab and have designed this Downfiring Enclosure with Port up enclosure. Box is 2.00 Cu. Ft. tuned to 35 Hz. (After Wood & Port Displacement).26 Sq Inches of Port, 21 inches in length. The Website says it recommends 1.5^3 Ported and 2.0^3 For SPL. Does this box look alright.?? Do you guys think 2 Cubes is enough?(If not I think I can squeeze out more space somewhere.) I also wanted to know what the sub displacement is for the Level 4 12"? Thanks, Danny

I'm in the final planning for the enclosure I am having built inside the trunk of my Camry for 2 15" Mags. I haven't decided exactly what to do with the ports though so I need some advice. First off, I have 9.3 cubes gross to work with. The base model I am working with is 29hz tuning with 93"port area, 34" length and 7 cubes net for the Mags. But playing around with WinISD I have found a couple other things that work as well. For example, 29hz with 93" port but 7.4 cubes and only 32" port. Or, 30hz with 101" area and 34" length with 7 cubes net. My goal is powerful low-end and of course SQ. I might compete casually with this but I would really like to get good num…

Hello all. I can't remember for the life of me but does a coil impedance tend to rise slightly or fall slightly after a sub has broken in. Planning my second sub soon and the first was supposed to be dual 1. Showed up with one at 1.4 and one at 1.6 brand new. Last i checked one was a 1.8 and the other a 2 Kinda confused me as I had ordered a dual 1. Dc offers a dual 1.4 and I wonder if they hadn't sent me the wrong load to begin with.

I have 3 Soundstream Exact10's (Love them btw) Each one has its own issue. Now Soundstrem doesnt carry a recone for this sub. I'm new to the whole reconing thing. So I dont know where to source parts and materials needed Is there anywhere that I'd be able to get one or one that will work? Any help/suggestions greatly apprecited

Just got the word, the Mach5 SPL-15 will be built.. I'm looking forward to this. triple stack 8.5 round mags, 6 spiders. This will be a monster. 3000rms per mach5 It will be a little while before I actually get it due to building and shiiping but I'll post pics when it comes...

Assuming Both were ran in optimum ported enclosures, running off a SAZ-1500d @1ohms (i know way too much power, gain would be set correctly don't worry), which would you choose and why? Looking for more SPL than SQ, and this will be a daily beater setup. I'm looking between the upcoming sa-15 and 15" SSD w/BP power, I understand the sa-15 isn't out yet, but judging by the specs which would you prefer? Obviously the SSD is rated at 800rms vs 600rms for the SA, but it seems like the Sundown is very underrated... I think it would run at 800rms fine. Well, one of the coils on my mag are blown. Shortly after putting my sub from ported to sealed, I hear danggg danngg when the bass hit hard and I tested both coils...one reads 2 ohms, the other reads anywhere from 14-22 ohms. How much does it cost to get this fixed ? Ive had it for 2 years now, I bought it when the new mags were comin out and they were logoless (no it wasnt stolen, I have receipts from paypal where I sent Nick the $$). Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi there, im looking to get a new 12" sub sealed and focusing more towards SQ than SPL. Im pretty well decided on the Fi SSD 12" with the copper coil. It seems to fit the budget and sounds like it will do what i want it to. Im currently using the Mach 5 audio MAW-15 and want to change it up and regain a little trunk space. The amp im running is the Alpine MRP-M850 so it should be enough for the SSD. What would be the benefit of getting the Q over the SSD, they both look pretty similar except the Q would take more wattage which i dont have anyways. Thanks

Hello, this would be my first go with a sundown product and I wanted to see any users opinions on the idea. The sub woofers will be receiving power from a mmats 2000.1 so the subs in theory not accounting for freq. or box rise etc. would get 500 per. The enclosure will be sealed shooting for a little bit higher Q around .8 as I like the warmer sound. I'm not a huge fan of dampened or critically dampened sealed boxes. Basically I am at an impasse as it would seem with the current sale it would be stupid to miss out on the SA's as I could potentially up grade power later on these vs the SD. Any thoughts, I know basically no one has played with the SD's but opinions would be…

okay so my gf has these cheap kenwood speakers and the dust cap is starting to come unglued from the surround. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_43777_Kenwood-KFC-W12PS.html what can i use to get them to stick back together well. the sub still works obviously but there is an annoying sound i'd like to fix. thanks!! edit: its only about a 1-2 inch part that is coming up from the surround so nothing too crazy lol

I've had a 15 inch ICON in my old explorer for the past two years and loved every second of it. But that car is now gone. I'm planning on getting a GCON that will go in a mustang. Obviously the trunk isn't nearly as big in a mustang, so I'm debating between a 10 inch or a 12 inch. The specs say a 12" optimal ported box is 3 cubic feet, and 2.5 cubic feet for the 10". These are bigger recommended box sizes than the icons of the same size...so why do the GCONs need such a big box? Just wondering cause I'm playing with limited room!

Hey guys, I have an '01 sonoma reg. cab. I'm looking for some opinions on what subs to run in it. I have roughly 1.67cf internal space to work with. I'm leaning toward a single 10 ported, but I'm open to suggestions. The sub(s) will be seeing around 1000-1200watts total. I'm more of a spl than sq guy so I'm thinking ported is the way to go. Also, I'm 6'-4" so leg room is nice to have. Anymore than one or two clicks and I'll be eating the dash. I've thought about a blow-thru, but I've had them before and really want to try and do this without cutting up my truck. Thanks in advance for your input. -Lee
