hey everyone. i'm in the process of piecing togethor my first system and i'm trying to figure some basic stuff out right now. i listen to a lot of house/trance and other electronic music, with some rock and a lil rap every once and awhile. my friends that have subs (mtx, jl w3), their setups sound great with rap but get muddy and don't seem like they keep up with the music when any kind of electro is played. I want my sub to remain clear and crisp. should i be looking for smaller a smaller 10" sub, or if i get more of an sq sub such as the ss rl-p will a single 12 or even a 15 be able to suit my needs? thanks.

  10. I'm doing some planning in here...hopefully in a month or so I can pickup one of the new Eclipse head units and some speakers. The only thing I've dealt with before is a set of MBQuart speakers(RSD-216 RKC-116) and an MTX amp. I don't want to take up ANY room in my trunk as nearly 1/2 will be gone with my sub. So that means no more amps at all period. Unless you guys can tell me that I could mount it under my seat or something but even then I dunno as it does cost more money. So, what speakers should I look at that can be powered and sound good off of an Eclipse head unit? I don't know many 'good' names besides what I've seen in stores. Edit: Some vitals: I need 5 1/…

alright, the system in my fiances car is just a RF punch P2 in a ported box ( I built it a while ago, I think its something in the neighborhood of 2.5 ft^3 tuned to ~30HZ???) and it is powered by a RF 300.1 amp. the sub is a 4 ohm sub though, and the system is decent, but I am thinking of selling the P2 on ebay or something and get a different sub for around 60-70 bucks that delivers a 2 ohm load to get the most out of the amp. heres the 5 I am looking at now, and the prices. I am open to others also. what would you pick and why? Diamond Audio D1 12D4 60.00 RE Audio REX12D4 65.00 Orion C2-124 74.00 eD 13kv.2D4 (depends on th…

hi guys, i would like to ask for some options to look at. need some inputs here, what sub would be good for a .5 - .6 enclosure / 200-500rms / decent lows / good SQ, sounds good even for metal, rap, hiphop, etc. ( so something with a little SPL on it)? so far only things i see are PG RSDc 10", RE SR 10", and RE REx 10" do i have any other options on this? good price would be around $200 and highs on $300 for a pair. so $100 - $150 each...

I have a ram quad cab that they will be going in. I will be using the center console for the placement of the subs. Dim. that I have to work with are 26 long 17 high and 15.5 wide. Those dims or smaller but I have plenty of vol. for a wide range of subs. Subs will be in sealed enclosure. I'm wanting sq but with a little attitude. I'm using CDT ES 06 for mid bass in my doors and CDT ES 04 and tweets in kick panels. My amp that will be powering the subs is a US Amps old school 100 HC. Would like the amp to see 1 ohm so I can get full use of the amps power. Aprox. 1400 to 1600 watts at 1 ohm. Ok I listen to all kinds of music but mainly rock and metel with everythi…

I just bought a used Sundown Saz-1500d. For the moment I will be running it at 2 ohms with my dual 4 ohm voice coil DD2510. Within the next two paychecks, I wanna get something that will take the full 1 ohm power of the 1500. I am leaning towards a 15", but a couple of 12"s could be cool also. Just as long as I can wire to 1 ohm and get the full 1500 or so watts. -This is a daily driver, but if I can potentially get loud enough, I would maybe compete in street beat or similar. -budget is a $350 ish (used or new). less would be nice. -before installing the amp, I'm adding a yellow top in the trunk and one run of 1/0 for it. as well as big 3.

I am currently running 2 (400rms each) Sundown E-12s each in a 1.2 cubic foot ported box at 36hz. Powered by a Hifonics 1700.1 I recently found out that I could put a box in my back seat that will hold 2 15s. (R/T 300 series) thats 3.2 cubic feet per sub tuned at 32hz. Yes I understand 3.2 is just under the gross volume and does not account for the port. I also know it isn't the best box in the world but I can't afford much more right now and it is better than what I have. I have a convertible so I lose a lot of sound but I wanted to upgrade from the 12s to really just have more cone area and maybe a sub that will handle more power than the E series from sundown. I hav…

I had a 12" Fi BTL off a 2500D Soundstream Rubicon in my previous car. It sounded great, but got used to that. Now looking to upgrade. Did a cardboard mock-up in my new car (2005 Civic) and trying to decide what subs to go with. I'm looking for a lot of air movement, hitting deep, and sounding clean. Was thinking 2 x Fi Q 15's. What do you think? Would like to keep total power of both subs combined under 2000RMS. Dimensions, minus the angle..Looks to be about 3.5cuft per sub after displacement. Quick question, when I move the port to the middle would I have 14" of length on each side or 7" on each side per sub? Layout will be like this, common chamber.

What do u recommend for SQ??? Will be in a sealed box with 7" max depth mount... Net vol. too factory rec.. Up firing under the back seat of my ext cab sierra.. I do NOT have a amp yet but would like to stick with any of the sundown amps... Like to keep it around or under $300 for one or two subs which ever sounds better. Using CDT EF-61i with a sundown sax-100.2 in front... Was looking at two ss rli-10's and the sundown sae-100d but that might be more than I need... Also looking at the Sundown SAX-100.2and two SD-1 10's... I read its got killer sq... I just looking for clean musical bass to fill out the music not to drown anything out and not boomy.. I've been looking at the DC lvl 3 12'' subs but I'm not sure what I should get, I'm a complete noob to this stuff. I'm going to power the sub(s) with either a sundown SAZ-1500 or SAE-1200 Going in the trunk of my 02 mazda protege sedan. I like to listen to a lot of metal and rock music. I've heard sealed boxes are better for fast double bass, but I've also heard that a good ported box can handle double bass as well. Others say the bass will blend together in a ported box... what do you guys think? is the dc lvl 3 the best sub for my money?
