I just built a 4th order BP box for a Panasonic 10" woofer, and it sounds terrible. Not "bandpass" bad, just designed wrong. The frequency response is WAY off. Here is what I have: Panasonic 10" t/s Vas: 42 L Fs: 30.0 Hz Qts: 0.37 I input that into the calculator on carstereo.com and came up with: Volume front = .397 ft^3 Volume rear = .533 ft^3 Fb (front side) = 58.3 Hz Frequency response ~ 35-90 Hz Added sub displacement and port displacement to the front and rear volumes and built the box. Due to the small area, I could only get a 3" port into the enclosure. Maybe that is too small? Calculated a 3" x 12" long port. Anybody tell me what to do different????? Thanks! …

A teammate of mine (Bumpinbuick on most forums) got his Omega 15's in he sill be using in a daily setup. His comp car will be using 2 18's. He will be testing them soon for those that were interested in the t/s parameters. ** Black powder coated baskets with the lime grren flakes are for team members. Regular Omegas will has a deep metalliac purple baskets.. Which i kinda like a little better LOL!! 18" baskets will just a 6 spoke design.

Man i must have gotten used to my Magnum 12s because they are not cutting it for me now. Maybe i just need to stop being lazy and go ahead and get my 180amp alternator installed. Dont get me wrong, the bass still hits amazingly hard, but im used to it. So i keep trying to turn the knob up more and more. Anywayz, i thought about selling my old claw style 12s and use that money plus some to go ahead and get two of the 15s. Only problem with that is, i have a 96 Honda accord. My trunk isnt big at all. And i love ported boxes. Right now my 12s are in a 2cu box tuned to 29hz. And thats basically my whole trunk. Im sure i can squeeze a tad bit more room, but not much at all. Ba…

whats up guys, been debating on what sub/amp combo I wanna go with, thought I decided on 2 soundsplinter 10's with an alpine pdx 1.1000 amp, but then I realized I might not want that much bass.. I listen to probably 75% rock, 25% rap, I want something with great sound quality, but I guess when necessary I wanna be able to turn it up and feel it when I listen to rap.. dunno if I should go with 2 10's, one 12", or maybe one REALLY good 10"... I have heard of subs like the JL 10w7 sounds really crisp, but when you want it to be loud, it can sound like 2 12"s almost.. what sub does SS, SSA, etc make that would be the equivalent of the 10w7? You think in my case one really so…

Haven't had a sound system all winter and I'm ichin to get back into the game. I'm gonna be picking up my 10" d2ohm XCON pretty soon and since I haven't done a 10" build yet I was lookin for some ideas/pics/thoughts and or some nice build logs featuring a ported 10. I've been running 2 of the es12dv.2's off of a Memphis mc1000d. I put in "Late Night Tip". Subs went to flexing. Body panels and windows went to flexing. One of the subs went pop, pop, pop, pop, and quit. Never a burnt smell. Upon further inspection (after removing the sub), the cone was separated from the spider. You could see what I think was the voice coil through the vents on the side. It was in pieces with wires hanging around inside it. Does that sound like maybe it played to loud and low and unloaded? Should I turn my sub-sonic filter up a little more? I'll send it off and get it fixed, makes some adjustments and try it again. I dug the flexing of my Xterra. …

I will be using one of these subs as a temporary sub setup till I get my electrical right, money right and subwoofer choices down to run my Sundown SAZ-2000D @ 1ohm. I have a 2003 Saturn Ion, stock alternator and stock battery so far and just took out my 3-12" Kicker CVX's in 5.9ft^3 @ 25.94Hz. As you can tell I love the lows (my priority in any system I have), I listen to: a lot of chopped and screwed music plus r&b, rap and old school. I will be building a new enclosure anywhere from 3-3.75ft^3 for the Kicker CVX 15" and 3.25ft^3 for the Sundown Z15. OK folks. I am getting ready to drop a sizeable order with my freinds at Powerbass, but am wondering if anyone that has used the XS subs, & swapped to the XXXL subs, what they thought of the change. I have a customer that I did 2 XS15's, & wants to try the XXXL's, & I don't want him to spend the $$ & not get as much outta them....so let me know what y'all think....please no lip service, if they are better great, if not please be honest...as we are talking about $800 of this guys money (I would be selling him the XXXL for $400 each)

I have 2 10" older RE SE with the 12 spoke baskets and will be building 2 sealed boxes for them. Its going in a 300zx twin turbo and so i want one in each corner. (I know one box is easier and better but i need room for t tops etc.) wondering if the enclosure recommendations of .4 compact and .65 optimal for the new ones would be a decent guideline or if anyone knows the recommended specs for these models.

Its for spl only. I have about 6.5 cubes to work with, its for 2 15'' d2s. I want it ported and tuned to 45 hz. i want massive port area and have 14 inches of depth to work with. Any help will be appreciated, i want to put up some big numbers for SI!

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding ported enclosures. I currenly have 2 Dcon 12s in a ported enclosure, 1.75 cubes per sub tuned to 33hz. The box was made by a local shop and fits my trunk like a glove. The guy at the shop measured my trunk and that's what fit. The dcons pound for a pair of 12s being powered by only 500 watts. I'd really like to upgrade my output by getting an Icon or Xcon 15, but height size it wouldn't fit which poses my question, how would an up firing subwoofer enclosure sound in a trunk compared to the sub facing the rear? I'm pretty confident an up firing box wound fit my trunk. How would an Xcon sound in 3.75 cubes ported to about 33hz?

I'm really curious to see what the Le of an 12" XCON is. My heart has been set on an AE AV-X driver for the longest time, but i keep coming back to SSA and ponder if I should just get the XCON. I don't have an amp yet, it all depends on what driver I decide on getting. My hesitation comes from getting a high xmax driver. Every one I have purchased has such a high Le that they typically never exceed 63hz. yes, I know I could beef up my front stage, but it would require a lot of modification to either fit a larger driver, or another driver. i have an 06 Trailblazer so I have the space, but I would like to keep it as a sealed enclosure. I have a sundown sa-15 with or without box and 2 kicker cvt 6.5" subs. I have a guy that wants to trade me a dd 3512 with box and $60 for them. Would it be worth it? I will most likely not use it very much and just try to sell it cuz I have a dc xl 12. What is the going price on the 3512s?

Since i cannot physically see the sub, i thought i would ask for help. Im gonna build a custom box, for behind my seat... i think i can get the box at around 1cf and still be able to fit my amp. first up the btl recone old box 2 15's btl's the crappy single box i made out of the box above, lol on to the recone get that dustcap off first nice cover the hole and while i was at it got teh ca off the leads and pulled the old tensil out easier said than done.. resolder the new leads in and used some goop to cover them resolder back to the post and put the cap back on wt some gasket glue
