Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Hi Guys I'm also planning to do the door speakers (With an Amplifier) in my car and I have never done this I've always only added a sub. So I may have a lot of questions and I'm looking for some direction. This will be hooked up to factory Head unit Via LC6i (unless directed otherwise.) My car has 8 total speakers. Front door has 6.5" speakers and then tweeters in the dash. Rear doors have a 6.5" at the bottom and then a tweeter next to the door handle. I have added pics below for reference. I have no idea what the depth would be or if spacers would or could be used? Not sure how to find that out. Now I don't want to go crazy but I'm willing to flex my bud…

Well this weekend has been eventful. I was sure I wasn't going to have enough time to do all 3 and I was correct in my assumption. However, I took a giant stab at it and have took some pics along the way. I have been doing this a little at a time so if you have any advice then by all means. This is my first attempt at reconing any sub and I will be the first to tell you that if anyone uses as much glue as what came on these things then just let someone else do it if the price is negligible. It's different if the sub/motor is worth reconing to begin with, but what the hell I need to learn anyway right? So to start things off let's take a look at the culprits. Ok, s…

Hi everyone, I've been doing some shopping lately looking for a new sub and wanted to get some advice. Heres a few things specifically I'm kinda basing my next purchase upon. 1. Budget- $450 (approx) 2. single subwoofer setup only 3. minimum 1500w RMS 4. Best SQ possible at the same time id love something that can hit pretty damn hard (140 decibels if possible) 5. Very durable!! I've already blown 2 soundsplinter rlp-18s i need something that can take some serious abuse. ( something that actually can withstand in hot weather) I will be using a a jl 1000/1v2 to power the sub ( Nak cd400 headunit). So far I've been browsing TC sounds Axis series, Ascendant audio mayhem ser…

Hello Everyone, I have had an Infinity Reference 1260w in a sealed box powered by an RE Audio DTS 1000.1 subwoofer in my vehicle for over 6 months now, and I have decided to upgrade. I purchased another of the subwoofers, and attempted to install it. RMS Values of 1260w's = 300w @2ohm DTS1000.1 = 560w For some reason that I can't determine, it isn't playing as loud/well as before, much less louder as it should. Is this because my amp is too weak? I am attempting to wire it down to a 2 ohm load, and to do this I have run the speaker wire from the amp to the first sub, then looped it to the 2nd. AMP + ---> sub #1+ ----> sub #2+ AMP - ---> sub #1- ----> …

  7. I have a set of Kenwood KFC-P709PS connected to a Kicker 350.2KX *i think it is*. So about 3 weeks ago I moved the amp so I can put the back seat down. Then today, I put hooked the RCA cable back to it, and Im getting bass and whatnot but no vocals at all. I changed RCA cable. Did nothing. I changed the speaker wire. Did nothing. Tried just the speaker without the tweeter. Still nothing. Checked power and ground connections. Nothing. I factory reset my headunit which is a KVT-516, and that didnt work. Im lost here. I checked all the connections on the back of the head unit and all that. Everything is good. I wanna say my amp is buggered but its pounding my speakers like n…

  8. my friend is looking to build a box and install a sub under the back seat. we don't have the dimensions of our space but we were wondering what a good sub would be that is 5" or less deep. were thinking one 10" or two 8" subs in a sealed box. or one 8" in a ported box. any recommendations would be very appreciated. we will be able to fit a 1cuft box according to the stealth box that is sold on crutchfield.

I have 2 boxes in my trunk. Each identical, like the picture above. My boxes are around 1 cubic foot, with these 2 ports tuned around 33hz each box.. There inside a 2000 Ford Mustang Vert, and there the best I can do. my best response is around 35-45hz in the cabin. My amp is a kicker 750.1 running around 800 or so rms, cleanpower. My current subwoofers, 2 Kicker CVRs. There great subwoofers, but im looking for more, an I know people I can sell them to so I can get a decent return on them. Im looking for the best 10 inch subwoofers I can place in these boxes to get the most out of my system. I am not sure how well different subwoofers preform in different enclosures,…

  12. I recently wanted to have a under the seat build for my truck, but now I've come up with the decision to go a little bit bigger with the enclosure. I don't want to take my seats completely out. my plan is to flip my seats up and build a box that's I can take out if I needed to use my rear seat. 15' s are out the question cause the enclosure will be to large to move around, so my options are multiple 10' s or 12' s. I have my saz-3500 but I plan on selling it and get a saz-4500 or two crescendo bc2000's I want to keep the price of the subs under $1000. I listen to 90% rap and I will not be competing. the source I have to work with is W-50 D-16 H-17.5

What does inverting the subwoofer do for performance?? Is this completely cosmetic or does it do something differently than normally mounting the sub?? Also, How can you mount a sub backwards if the trim piece only fits on one way?? Is there a different trim piece needed to do this type of mounting?? Thanks everybody.

Hey everyone, I've been working on getting everything ready for my new set up. This will be going in a 01 blazer s10 extreme, it is my daily driver and will most likely not be doing competitions. Will put up pictures as I progress. What I have and want: HU - (OWN) - Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS PROCESSOR - (OWN) - miniDSP 4 x 10 hd. I was planning on getting the MS8 but I've heard it does not like trying to work with horns. Can I expect this from the miniDSP as well (I really hope someone with experience can chime in here) or will the DSP help my speakers shine? SUBSTAGE - (OWN) - 1 2010 Fi Q 18" d1, fully loaded (without high Qts) in a 8 ft^3 box tuned to 29 hz. (Best sounding …

hi all I'm buying a single 12" re audio xxx new style. I could get my hands on the old style 18 but don't think I'll have the space so I'm gonna go with the 12. I need to figure out what to do about a box for it. any ideas on tuning or size? I'd like to tune it low I like screwed and chopped due to all the low notes in it. like the 20-30 hz range is where most of my bass hits. hence why I'm going with a xxx now instead of my soft Parts aa assassin 8's . I've got around 30 in wide by 17 in tall by hopefully 20 or under deep. any help would be greatly appreciated. output isn't the biggest concern but would be nice. the low tuning and sq is the most important part.

  18. Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

I recently acquired 2 Crescendo PWX 10's and was looking into adding one to my car to help over all output. I have three ideas for setting this up. First the speaker/s will be put in a custom fiberglass box to fit behind my center console in between the back seat. The speaker/s will be firing towards the front windshield. I have Type R 6.5 components up front and coaxial 6x9's in the back. The addition will be powered by a 2 channel MTX RT2100X amp. Here are my three ideas. 1. Bridge the amp on 4 ohms and run a single PWX 10 at 280 wrms and count on the Type R tweets being enough to keep up. 2. Run a single PWX on one channel at 85 wrms and a pair Selenium St200's runni…

Obviously there is a difference between the... 1) X-15 2) Z V-3 15 3) Z V-4 15 I Know the difference in the V3 and V4 is the generation but i am wondering if anyone can give me any input on differences between how beefy the components are and the general differences between the 3. Maybe you guys can help me decide which one to get. Going to order 2 15's and they are going in the back of a 2008 Jeep Commander. Had 2 FI BTL's. How would 2 of these subs compare to the 2 BTL's i had?
