well my solo x's will be here monday, so id like to get started on box plans. my max dimensions are 50"wide,21"tall, and 15deep which if used all that with no port is 7.388 now i know once i add port, and displacment of the sub, it will go down. id like to get atleast 3.0cf for each sub.the more the better lol as for tuning, im not so sure. i like lows so i was thinking around 32Hz?? if anyone has a better suggestion, please let me know.im building 2 seperate boxes so when i sell them, they will be much easier to sell. the recommended ported box for 1 10 is 2.25-6.0cf. as for an amp, i am saving for a audiopipe 3000d (315 shipped w.warrenty) or if i can find a better amp…

Two 12" RL-p's (ported) or two 15" RL-p's sealed. I am planning to do a 1.5 cube ported to around 32-34 hz. The two 15"S will be in a 2 cube box. I will buy tonight, weather/internet connection permitting.

I'm trying to soak up as much information as I can for my next upgrade. But having difficult making a decision on my new sub setup. Too many different subs to choose from and then do I go ported or sealed. So far all I have ran is sealed Pioneer and Alpine amps/subs. But now I am looking to broaden my horizons and try something new. I took the first step and went with an MB Quart DSC1000.1 amp to power my Alpine SWR-1222D at 1Ohm in a sealed ~1.25ft³ enclosure (Scosche prefab. Best thing about it is the spring loaded terminal cup). Been thinking of either going 2 sealed 12's at approx 500w rms each or 1 ported 12 at 750 - 1500w rms. So far I have looked at the followin…

Hello folks I never before came across Power Bass until I joined this fine forum. I have heard a lot of woofers at the top of their game throughout the years (SI Magnums, Incriminator Audio DP's, RE XXX's, DD's and so on) but I have never heard 1. Power Bass 2. Sound Splinter I realise there arent too many people out there who have heard all of the above woofers, but could somebody give me a pointer as to how the best woofer from companies 1 & 2 would fare up against the tried and testted super-subs, like the SI Magnum (great SQ/LSQ/SPL driver, the best all rounder I have come across) and the Incriminator Audio Death Penalty (mad streetbass sub that gets stinking …

Here are a few vids of my lv4xl10 in 1.7@36 on a saz1500. My camera doesn't pick up hardly any of the flex but I've had a few people on the other forums ask me to make some vids so here they are. Don't pay any attention to that RCA wire running across my seat. The one that was in there broke and I had this one lying around so I threw it in there temporarily.

I'm getting 2 12's of either kind. What's most important to me is the SQ, then the lows, and then SPL. I will have all the upgrades I need, as far as BIG 3, H/O Alternator, and XS power battery ( based on which subs i choose). The box i have is 5cuft tuned to 30Hz. Also if i decide the BL or Q i will get the 2 Sundown SAZ-1000D or 1 SAZ-2000D, If i choose the XCONS i will get a sundown SAZ-3500D, If i choose the Havocs I will pre-ordder the Sun-down SAZ-2500D. What will get louder? What will sound the best while being loud? & What will hit the lows the best while being loud and having good SQ? Also money is not a problem. Any input is helpful Thanks guys

i know cheap and good aren't allways in the same sentence but thats what i need. so heres the deal i have stock speaks right now powered off my 580mp pioneer HU. the stock tweets i can handle although they suck compared to others i can deal with them for now but the mid-range is just too crappy. i hate listening to rock and have the gutair sound awful cuase the speaks are chit, now for what i need. first has to be cheap im a college kid that is currently layed off so income is low so trying to keep this around $150 shipped maxed. another problem is power since im poor i am going to use my HU for the time being for power so i need something a little high on efficieny. i wa…

So i recived my Fi BTL n2 12"s which are 2x2 dvc and wired them like this: Voice coils in series and woofers in parallel should give 2 ohm final load (reads 1.3ohm on DMM). My RF 2500bdcp amp does 3500w at 2 ohms @ 14.4v (not sure if i shall belive the birthsheet) The woofers are mounted in a temp ported box till next week when i build my enclousure which will be 4.5cu after displacment and tuned at 33hz. As it is now it dosnt give out much bass at all, don't know if they are out of phase or that they are brand new and stiff as hell or it just might be the box. My voltage is steady even at full volume before clipping. (14.7v) i've scoped everything to make sure nothing c…

Unfortunitely I need to build a new home for my XCON 15. The current enclosure is 4^3ft net tuned to 32hz. I love it. The output is good and the sound quality is great. BUT!!! I need to get some cargo area back. After tossing around a few ideas I decided to sick with my XCON but build a 3.0^3ft sealed enclosure for it. I am really going to miss the ported output How much polyfill should I add in the enclosure? Will the sub still handle 1750wrms daily?

Hi everyone, If you are interested in seeing some test measurements of the MJ-18, you can go to the web link below. I took some frequency response curves and in-car SPL measurements. http://testbed.mach5audio.com Best regards, Mark

I have a 2.05ft box tuned to 36hz for 2 10" drivers. I had 1 sa10 in a 1ft box tuned to 35hz and it's way too peaky for my tastes - shakes the whole car on lows but has hardly any output at higher frequencies, so music sounds "uneven". I'm trying to find a sub that has a smoother frequency response and sq but still gets decent spl. I've graphed 1 of each sub below, in a 1ft box tuned to 36hz (w/ the sa10 for reference). Each is at their recommended rms. I have no idea why the Demon is so off - I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong but I've triple checked all t/s numbers (if someone wants to try and graph that one for me feel free!) I'm limited to a max …

Hello I'm new here and have been into car audio for a little while. My question may seem dumb and maybe its because I haven't heard enough setups or any bad subs...but I'm wondering how it is you determine what a good sounding sub and install sounds like? Just a little background...I bought an Icon recently and built the box using the design on SSA's website and I think I did a great job for only my second box. The only two real problems were that I accidentally made the cutout for the sub 2 inches to the left in the center and it was supposed to be offset, and the second is that the port is somewhat crooked at the corner and is off by about an 1/8th of an inch. I think i…

So I finally installed my cheap Rockford components (well tried too) and they don't fit. Every place on line says that my jimmy has 6.5s but these are just barely too big. So since I already have them do i need to buy different speaker housing or can i just cut out a circle of wood, glue it to the housing and then screw the speaker to that?

I'm looking to get either 1 18 or 2 15's. I know most of you are going to say 2 15's!!!! But I don't want to spend too much money, ($500) Right now I'm looking at 2 15" Planet Audio Big Bangs, I don't remember the model number but they say 1500 rms a piece. Or i'm looking at like a DC Level 5, Nightshade, or a BTL all 18" I have 3k and 6 cubic feet to play with. What do you guys suggest. I'm open to new ideas too. but thats my power, budget, and room

Well usually when I'm at a stop light I turn my sub off so I don't annoy anyone. But some other guy was blasting his bass at the stop light. So I figure why not embarass him or give him a taste of his own medicine. I crank my 15" way up and a matter of seconds later he stopped playing his. Then when I stopped playing mine he tried turning his up and so I cranked mine up and left it cranked up. It was pretty fun. Wasn't anywhere near my house so no worries of getting ripped off. The best part was the guy was probably running 2 10's or 2 12's as he had blazer style truck and couldn't keep up. By the way, don't know if I posted this or if I thought about posting it, …

Today I pulled out my 3 way Dynaudio 362 set today and I see that I have one tweeter blown. I don't know that I want to spend $300 on a replacement set either. I didn't love them that much. lol I am going to run passive as I have the 3-way passive crossovers and dont want to add all the extra amps to go active. I am trying to keep this to a minimum both with weight and equipment used. I am going to put the 8" woofer in the door and 3" mids with 1" tweeters in the kicks. I found that worked better when I was passive on this set so thats where I am going to start first. The passive tweeeter is a second order @ 3.5khz (12db), the mid and woofer are first order 900-3500 (6db)…
