I need help deciding on a pair of subs for my new setup. This setup I'd going in an Isuzu Trooper, and so far I have it sound deadened with sound deadened showdowns, I have the component setup run off of a Sundown 2.250, and I now need help making a decision on a pair of subs based on my box and the amount of power I can run. I already got the box professionally made and it's 8cubes tuned to 33hz. Also Im not going to be running a high output alternator, but I'll be running a secondary XS Power battery and am thinking about running my subs off of the Sundown SAX 1200D. i have a 97 astro van that is currently getting the trans rebuilt. i was going to run 2 solo x 18s. then i changed my mind and sold them today on ebay. now i'm looking to buy 8 mj18's for my build. i have an hk4000d and a ss xxx6500d for power. five opti batts and stock alt for now. i want this thing to be a groundpounder that can also do good at comps. advise welcome

Hello I'm new here and have been into car audio for a little while. My question may seem dumb and maybe its because I haven't heard enough setups or any bad subs...but I'm wondering how it is you determine what a good sounding sub and install sounds like? Just a little background...I bought an Icon recently and built the box using the design on SSA's website and I think I did a great job for only my second box. The only two real problems were that I accidentally made the cutout for the sub 2 inches to the left in the center and it was supposed to be offset, and the second is that the port is somewhat crooked at the corner and is off by about an 1/8th of an inch. Not my thing, but my sister wants some output. Looking for a sub for her boat. Nothing magical to blend with, just a set of tbd comps and an amplifier. Have 350w @ 4ohms (or 175x2 @ 2ohms) on tap and up to a few cuft to put it in. Would prefer loud for playing hip-hop, but at least mildly musical as I won't build a box for a fart cannon as it would piss me off too much. This one will be ported. Budget, less is more but $200 tops. New, used, a pair, or unusual is all fine with me I'd love a Maw, but the coils don't work for the power we have Same problem with the SD's. How will an HCCA sound in a sealed box, stuffed liberally? looking for a 30hz peak in a trunk car. SQ is priority, but with the ability to take your breath away. Three 12's, and three RF 4000BD's. electrically yada yada...... this is speculative, sifting through, as usual.

Between two 15" CVXs or two FI Qs. Do you think that off the same power, 1000 watts each, both in a ported box in the same vehicle, (tahoe), which do you think could get louder? I know it depends on the install but they're basically going in the same setup. Which do you think would get louder and sound better doing it? I think it would probably be the Q but I havent heard either.

Today I pulled out my 3 way Dynaudio 362 set today and I see that I have one tweeter blown. I don't know that I want to spend $300 on a replacement set either. I didn't love them that much. lol I am going to run passive as I have the 3-way passive crossovers and dont want to add all the extra amps to go active. I am trying to keep this to a minimum both with weight and equipment used. I am going to put the 8" woofer in the door and 3" mids with 1" tweeters in the kicks. I found that worked better when I was passive on this set so thats where I am going to start first. The passive tweeeter is a second order @ 3.5khz (12db), the mid and woofer are first order 900-3500 (6db)…

Too many different subs to choose from and then do I go ported or sealed. So far all I have ran is sealed Pioneer and Alpine amps/subs. But now I am looking to broaden my horizons and try something new. I took the first step and went with an MB Quart DSC1000.1 amp to power my Alpine SWR-1222D at 1Ohm in a sealed ~1.25ft­­³ enclosure (Scosche prefab. I've been researching subs for months and here I'm hoping to reach people that actually have hands on experience with the following woofers as I do not. I'm wanting to add good clean bass with authority to my current system. I'm not a bass head since I mostly listen to rock and metal but occasionally I do like to bump and want some chest thump on tap whenever I feel the need. I'm going to be getting these comps installed- CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System 2.75" mounting depth I currently have these installed SPS-500 - Alpine Type-S 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers 2" mounting depth I'm going to be upgrading to the larger size for the front speakers, from 5 1/4 to 6 1/2. My concern is in regards to speaker mounting depth. The alpine coaxials have a mounting depth of 2", the ID's have a mounting depth of 2.75". Is there a way to make the ID's work? How would I find out the max mounting depth of the speaker ports for my car? Thanks!

So i recived my Fi BTL n2 12"s which are 2x2 dvc and wired them like this: Voice coils in series and woofers in parallel should give 2 ohm final load (reads 1.3ohm on DMM). My RF 2500bdcp amp does 3500w at 2 ohms @ 14.4v (not sure if i shall belive the birthsheet) The woofers are mounted in a temp ported box till next week when i build my enclousure which will be 4.5cu after displacment and tuned at 33hz. As it is now it dosnt give out much bass at all, don't know if they are out of phase or that they are brand new and stiff as hell or it just might be the box. Unfortunitely I need to build a new home for my XCON 15. The current enclosure is 4^3ft net tuned to 32hz. I love it. The output is good and the sound quality is great. BUT!!! I need to get some cargo area back. After tossing around a few ideas I decided to sick with my XCON but build a 3.0^3ft sealed enclosure for it. I am really going to miss the ported output How much polyfill should I add in the enclosure? Will the sub still handle 1750wrms daily?

Well usually when I'm at a stop light I turn my sub off so I don't annoy anyone. But some other guy was blasting his bass at the stop light. So I figure why not embarass him or give him a taste of his own medicine. I crank my 15" way up and a matter of seconds later he stopped playing his. Then when I stopped playing mine he tried turning his up and so I cranked mine up and left it cranked up. It was pretty fun. Wasn't anywhere near my house so no worries of getting ripped off. guys as i mentioned in a few other threads i am a sales rep and i spend ALOT of time in the car. after debating for hours what would be best-- build a killer small sub box ( RLi8 or like with a PR to keep it small ) or redo my doors one of our resident experts here hit the nail on the head " why would you spend so much time or money on a sub? it reproduces about 15% of your sound ". it really hit home. i deadened my doors with Raamat, but did not do the closed cell foam on either skin of the door. when it warms up i want to make sure i do the closed cell foam ( is it better to line the inside of the door or between the panel trim and outer skin? ). i boug…
