trying to figure out which setup would be better. either 4 Planet Audio TQ150DVC 15" dual 4-ohm TORQ subwoofers on an Audioque 2200D in a sealed box with 2 cu ft per sub. or 1 MA Audio MA1800XL 18" dual 4-Ohm subwoofer on an Audioque 2200D in a round port box tuned to 32hz with 5 cu ft for the sub. setup would be in the trunk of a 2nd gen Altima. sound i'm looking for is really loud deep bass, the kind that vibrates the air in your lungs (or as close to that as i can get ). electrical upgrades will be done (big 3, 0 ga, etc). i hope this is enough information for you all to help. thanks.

Hi everyone, If you are interested in seeing some test measurements of the MJ-18, you can go to the web link below. I took some frequency response curves and in-car SPL measurements. http://testbed.mach5audio.com Best regards, Mark

So I ordered a 15" mag I think a week n a half ago. I just haven't had time to get everything setup and what not. Over the last week, in my spare time, I have been building my 2.5 cu ft sealed box. Here are some of the pics: Thats it for now. Should be done tomorrow. Glueing the front baffle onto the box and the terminal cup. Then sealing and carpeting and installing tomorrow! Here is my old subs. Nice subs, just wanted a change.

Well usually when I'm at a stop light I turn my sub off so I don't annoy anyone. But some other guy was blasting his bass at the stop light. So I figure why not embarass him or give him a taste of his own medicine. I crank my 15" way up and a matter of seconds later he stopped playing his. Then when I stopped playing mine he tried turning his up and so I cranked mine up and left it cranked up. It was pretty fun. Wasn't anywhere near my house so no worries of getting ripped off. The best part was the guy was probably running 2 10's or 2 12's as he had blazer style truck and couldn't keep up. By the way, don't know if I posted this or if I thought about posting it, …

Ok so i was looking for a couple of 10 inch subs that don't cost too much but still can do the job with no problems. 500w RMS each and good sound plus some good excursion. Then i find this sub. Now i know Phoenix Gold is not the best out there but these things look pretty solid. Link for pics/specs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18824_Phoenix+Gold+RSdC104+-RSdC+104-.html So does anyone know anything about these? I'm open to suggestions as well. I will be using a Sundown SAZ 1000 to power them. Any info on this at all? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

  9. i mapped out some EQ settings in a new box design. 9 cubic feet with a 32 hz tuning and 128 port area. Fi audio SP4 18 on a ZX2500.1 this is my first time ever looking into any EQ or using win isd to this level. im sure most of you will remember that my goal here is to get a flat responce curve with as few peaks as possible up into the 65hz range for the music i like. am i on the right track here? a gain of 3 db @ 65hz a static gain of 2db across the system a gain of 3db at 32hz a gain of -3.5db at 38hz a gain of 2db @ 50hz xover at 100hz sub sonic at 28hz air velocity is 20m/s impedance does not drop below 3.6ohm while inside of xover frequencies. max VA is 4KW …

What do you guys think I should do, just a pair of 2 way comps, or should I also get some 6x9's in the back as well? Some people say just the fronts matter, but some others say to get rears as well. I drive a 07 camry ce. Let me know your guys opinions. I want to hit mids and highs with crisp clear sound. Listen to mainly rap/hiphop/funk.

  12. Today I pulled out my 3 way Dynaudio 362 set today and I see that I have one tweeter blown. I don't know that I want to spend $300 on a replacement set either. I didn't love them that much. lol I am going to run passive as I have the 3-way passive crossovers and dont want to add all the extra amps to go active. I am trying to keep this to a minimum both with weight and equipment used. I am going to put the 8" woofer in the door and 3" mids with 1" tweeters in the kicks. I found that worked better when I was passive on this set so thats where I am going to start first. The passive tweeeter is a second order @ 3.5khz (12db), the mid and woofer are first order 900-3500 (6db)…

I just picked up an 03 Tahoe. I'm wanting to buy a above average set of components. At this stage vehicle is bone stock. I plan to use only stock locations. Mid around knee to lower knee height. Tweet up in the pillar aiming up towards middle of windshield. Budget is roughly $300 for the pair. Sub stage will be a btl 18 and a saz1500. Will power these components with possibly an older 800.4 fosgate. Looking for suggestions on sets that are out there and any experience anyone has had with these they can share. Prob won't go active, kind of intimidated by it lol.

  14. I'm getting 2 12's of either kind. What's most important to me is the SQ, then the lows, and then SPL. I will have all the upgrades I need, as far as BIG 3, H/O Alternator, and XS power battery ( based on which subs i choose). The box i have is 5cuft tuned to 30Hz. Also if i decide the BL or Q i will get the 2 Sundown SAZ-1000D or 1 SAZ-2000D, If i choose the XCONS i will get a sundown SAZ-3500D, If i choose the Havocs I will pre-ordder the Sun-down SAZ-2500D. What will get louder? What will sound the best while being loud? & What will hit the lows the best while being loud and having good SQ? Also money is not a problem. Any input is helpful Thanks guys

Looks like I will be competing with Treo this coming season. Just won an auctin for a CSX 15" built for SPL (no pole vent). It does have a blown coil but for $100 shipped I am not complaining. It is going back to Treo anyway to get enlarged to an 18" with quad coils. Hmmmm, quads. So it looks like Treo and Concept for me this season. I will post some pics of the 15" when I get it and of the 18" when it returns!

Unfortunitely I need to build a new home for my XCON 15. The current enclosure is 4^3ft net tuned to 32hz. I love it. The output is good and the sound quality is great. BUT!!! I need to get some cargo area back. After tossing around a few ideas I decided to sick with my XCON but build a 3.0^3ft sealed enclosure for it. I am really going to miss the ported output How much polyfill should I add in the enclosure? Will the sub still handle 1750wrms daily?

  19. Hello I'm new here and have been into car audio for a little while. My question may seem dumb and maybe its because I haven't heard enough setups or any bad subs...but I'm wondering how it is you determine what a good sounding sub and install sounds like? Just a little background...I bought an Icon recently and built the box using the design on SSA's website and I think I did a great job for only my second box. The only two real problems were that I accidentally made the cutout for the sub 2 inches to the left in the center and it was supposed to be offset, and the second is that the port is somewhat crooked at the corner and is off by about an 1/8th of an inch. I think i…

So i recived my Fi BTL n2 12"s which are 2x2 dvc and wired them like this: Voice coils in series and woofers in parallel should give 2 ohm final load (reads 1.3ohm on DMM). My RF 2500bdcp amp does 3500w at 2 ohms @ 14.4v (not sure if i shall belive the birthsheet) The woofers are mounted in a temp ported box till next week when i build my enclousure which will be 4.5cu after displacment and tuned at 33hz. As it is now it dosnt give out much bass at all, don't know if they are out of phase or that they are brand new and stiff as hell or it just might be the box. My voltage is steady even at full volume before clipping. (14.7v) i've scoped everything to make sure nothing c…

So I bought some used DD 9917s off **** and apparently they were just reconed. Well, I had a box built for one of them just to try it out and I started to play it in the car and it wasn't exactly very loud and literally after a minute or so, the sub completely locked up. It was wired to two ohms @ 3000 watts which is pretty much nothing for a 9917. So, after that, I hook up the other one. I notice the strong smell of a burning sub after about 20 seconds of playing it loud then about 2 hours later it starts making a sound like a spring vibrating or something. This one isn't blown YET but I sense it's damaged. When I push down on it, I can feel it rubbing. Any of you guys …

  22. I'm in the market for a sub but not sure if I need to buy a dual 1 ohm or dual 2 ohms voice coil. Furthermore, how should I wire it in series or parallel. What are the pros/cons of a D1 vs a D2? Then what are the pros/cons of wiring up the coils in series vs parallel? I'll be running a 12" sub with a Soundstream Rubicon 702 which does 700 watts RMS X 1 at 2 and 4 ohms bridged. Also does 350W X 1 at 8 ohms bridged.

alright, so i currently have an 18" nightshade that im getting reconed...i kinda wanna go with a 15 instead to shed some wait off of my car...its slow as shit as it is lol, so im wanting to go a bit smaller. how much output would i lose if i went to a 15. as long as the box is still just as good it shouldn't be a noticable difference right? any help would be great guys. thanx.

Ok. First of all, this thread is for a free Mag 15 shipped to your door. How you can get the Mag is this: Design us a web page. (the whole thing, not just one page) We are looking to re-vamp our web page and we need someone to design it for us. This is an open contest, anyone can win! Just email me at [email protected] for the design details (what we are looking for) and we'll fire an email back so you can get started on the design. We'll let this contest run for a month, so by the begining of next month we will have a new web page and someone will have a free Mag 15. Thanks! Nick

Hi guys, this will be long...lol...bear with me. I just bought a 97 Tahoe (4dr 4x4) and am wanting to put a new system in it. So far I have just a HU (Pioneer DEH-80PRS) and the amp for my mids/highs (MB Quart RM440.4). I'll have to wait until I get home (I'm in Afghanistan for another week) to get speakers as I don't know sizes and have gotten conflicting info online... Also, planned on doing the big 3 when I get home too... For the sub amp I was planning on using a Hifonics Brutus BRX2000.1D (or equivalent, or possibly a little more power, trying to stay below $300 for it). I'm very conflicted on the sub though... I'm thinking I only want to run 1 sub (2 isn't co…
