ok i know i said i was going to get the AA Havocs but ive been brought to light about the SSA Icons and i kno youtube videos do no justice but ive been trying to do a comparison between these two subs... does the SSA icon have a foam or rubber surround? which would sound better in a sealed box? Ported? which one would satisfy my audio needs... better yet which one would last longer? which would go better with a sundown 3000d

  2. So I have been under the misconception that the main difference in build was spiders. I thought that the main difference between SPL subs and SQ subs was SPL had super tight multiple spiders, raising the Fs, raising power REQUIREMENT, where as SQ subs had 1 loose spider lowering the Fs and allowing the speaker to move easier reducing power "handling". I am now learning I am WAY off. I thought SQ subs were most efficient, and SPL subs were super inefficient power hungry beasts wasting power. So now I am hearing that... let's go with the Fi lineup for comparison: I see the BTL on 1 end of the spectrum has the largest permenant magnet, a solid pole piece...no pole vent. I b…

I own a 2006 Scion TC which is a hatchback as the trunk is not sealed off at all, it's just behind the rear seats. Now, I ordered a stereo integrity 15" Mag that needs around 3.0 cubes for sealed, and 3.5 for ported according to stereo integrity. The sub will be powered by a directed audio 1100.d which puts out about 1200wRMS at 1ohm. The only real way I could pull this off and still have trunk space is by having the speaker fire upwards, into the top of the hatch glass. How would this sound in my car compared to the same sub firing towards the driver's seat or the rear of the trunk? Also, in real world terms, how much louder is a ported enclosure tuned properly going to …

I planned on buying a set of image dynamics horns. The ID Horns get so loud I do not know what to use to compliment them. Should I go a midrange and a midbass or just a midbass because the horns tackle such a large range of frequencies?

Quick question that i should know but i don't. I know crossovers split frequencies to tweeters, and midranges, but do they split the power provided as well? For example, if I have kicker ss components which are rated at 100 watts, and I provide a 100 watts from my amp, are the tweeters seeing 50 watts, and the midranges seeing 50 watts? or does it mean, that there is a constant 100 watts of power being supplied to the tweets/midranges at the same time, making each speakers capabilites 100 watts rms? If they do split power, why do they rate the same exact tweeters which are sold seperatley(not part of a component set) at 200watts peak/100watts rms if they are only feedin…

I have a buddy who is about to make a purchase and would like a w6. He's wondering if the 13w6 is worth the extra $90 on egay. I don't have any personal experience with them, so what do yall say? Were going to go with either the JL spec sealed or ported, whichever sounds better on the amp he bought. What do yall with experience have to say? Any help is appreciated. Randy

The sub box is 2.0 cubic ft per sub tune at 34hz with Sundown sa 12. I've heard that with tunning below 35hz your lpf should be around 80hz or below! Any truth to that? And shouldn't the lpf slope play a part say if 80 hz was best is that with a 12db slope or 24db or does that even mater?

  16. hey guys i have a quick question i recently built a box for two zcon 12 inch subs. it consists of a single 6 inch aero tuned to 37 hz only 9 inches depth in a enclosure 5.46 after sub displacement it seems like the sub closest to the port is unloading or sounds Blown at frequencies higher then 40 hz but the one on the left doesn't do this.. could it be the encloser is causing the sub to unload and sound distorted? i had designed a different box which would be a slot port with these specs gross volume 6.98 ft^3 port volume : 1.43ft^3 physical port length 20.00" port bends : no Baffle displacement : 0.19ft^3 port area range 60-80in^2 port area 81in^2 port area per ft: 16.2…

Hey guys last night I blew my REX10D4's in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo So here my current situation, I have Kicker DS693's in the front doors and DS65's in the back doors. I was running the REX10's with a Hifonics 1500D @ 4 Ohms which was overpowering them a bit but meh happens.(Amp is 1 Ohm stable) Alright so heres the dilemma I'm looking at either SA10s or E10s.(I listen to Rap/Rock) Currently I have a 3/4 MDF 2.0 cu ft box with 2 separate chambers and L ports tuned to 38 Hz (Also have a Sealed box laying around with .69 cu ft per chamber I believe) Now I'm only currently purchasing 2 with the intent of purchasing another 2 in the future. alright i pretty much decided to go with 6 12's in a wall in the truck. should i roll with the T3 T600's, AQ sdc2.5's or SA 12's? i cant decide, ive already got 2 sa 12's, but the T600's can be had for 116 shipped each! subs will be run with 3 AP 1500s. one per pair. box space is limited to about 10 cu ft max after displacement.

  21. I am fixing to do a build in my 2002 Acura RSX-S. I have everything bought except for the sub. My other equipment is Alpine 9887 Hertz ML280 tweets Hertz MLK 165 mids Audison 5.1k 5 channel. I want to run a ported box. At 4 ohms the sub should see circa 750 watts. At 2 ohms it should see circa 1000. Does TC Sounds, Audiopulse, or SoundSplinter make a sub that would pair up well with the sub channel? I would really love to have one with the high roll surround. I tried doing some searches but came up with tons of dead links and almost no driver specs. Any information would be helpful. If I can't find one of these subs to fit the bill I will just go with a 12w7. …

I have a 99 cougar with 2 12" l7s on a planet audio aq2500m. they are in the prefabbed kicker box with the side aero port. I have to run the subs at 4 ohms so they arent getting much power so i was wondering if I should: 1.) Try to sell the amp and buy a 1 ohm stable 2.) Sell them and buy dual 2 ohm coils 3.) Sell them and get 2 12" subs but that would have to be in the range of $100-$175 apiece ( was thinking maybe decons) 4.) Sell them and get a single 15 in a nice box but would have to cost around $200 give or take. If i do get a different set up I would hope that it would be an upgrade from the l7s. If i switch subs i probably won't get a new amp. This one isn't too t…

O.K so my brother is going to rebuild his system he had 2 12 alpine type r's and wants something louder deeper and just overall better than his old system. He has the U.S amps xt2000d 1000wrms @1 ohm. I was thinking to tell him to get an Fi SSD but the only thing is that if it could handle 1000wrms daily w/o options or if with them which ones. And what kind of box should you guys tell us to buils ported what tuning frequency or if sealed. He wants something for a daily driver. Or do you guys recommend a different sub. His buget is no more than 250 on a sub. And just 1. And do you guys no what the new design is going to be for the ssd
