I read on a thread on here that a sub with say 90 sensitivity rated 500rms would be louder (on the meter atleast) than a sub with a 85 sensitivity rated 1000 rms. are there other factor involved in this besides sensitivity. like excursion, that would affect which one is louder. I ask because I was wonderin around on ebay and saw a sub called a AA Bass15 (I'm sure its not the same AA that some ppl on here use) and it has a sensitivity of 96 db rated 450/900. Thinking about the whole double power gains 3 db rule, mathematically it seems like this would be better than my audiopulse axis with 87db sensitivity rated 2500rms, but it does mid to high 40's. would that little e…

Yep yep, I just sent it out a few hours ago. Chad should have it by Wednesday and then he and JimJ are going to try to meet this weekend to do some sealed testing. I was sad to see it go...and it also reminded me of how critical a sub is to a sound system. Damned Audax 5.25's!!

Hello all, ive been shopping around the last month for my next seasons' sub purchase, and "someone" who's close to SI and Team Smoke suggested I dabble with the Stereo Integ Magniums as a SPL sub in my Corvette SPL car build. Being that it is, an SPL only vehicle would it be honest to consider the SI Mag's to be a SPL or a SQ related subsoofer? I know there are alot of more variables to contend with beyond just the sub that dictates a SQ or SPL useage, but im suggesting my application will only be SPL, for highest numbers and not necessiarily the best SQ, since we all know there is a trade off at some point on something, ya know...the iron law thing Before I posted th…

Currently have two RF T2D412 in 4 cube ported box in my 04 Dodge Durango. I am running them with two RF T1500bd-cp. Have extra battery and a 270a alt ran with all 1/0. The subs get loud and i have been served well by them. That being said they are not the most musical subs in the world and I have been eyeballing the XCONs for a long time now. Im going to sell the box and subs i have now and get new subs at tax time. So here is my question, are the XCONs my best bet with the power im running. At two ohms I SHOULD be around 1600w per sub. Also in that vehicle with that setup what size box should I build and how much port area is ideal? Would love input from anyone willing t…

I have a single cab 2008 Chevy Silverado with 2 Memphis 12's but have them in a tiny box. I've been looking for 10's that would suit my needs and have been thinking about 1 Fi SSD 10" but now might go ahead for 2 Mach5 Audio IXL 10's. Are these subs good?(Quality & Loudness). How big should each sub get tuned to 34 Hz? Thanks in advance!

Ok so i've been on the search for a tweet, i bought the morel but PE killed my order so i'm debating buying them from madisound. my quesitons? how do these tweets perform? anyone have direct experience with them? http://www.madisound.com/pdf/mdt%2029.pdf The waterfall plot looks pretty great to me but i'm sure what time is too long, i see the broad hump at 1-2k makes me think they shouldnt' be played that low, but that also shouldn't be a problem. The only thing is i heard that textile domes weren't supposed to have transients that were that good, so maybe the scale is throwing me off? Shoot me any opinions before i go ahead and re-order these bastards

well, as some of seen the pics..now it's time for a review.. i bought the sub for $50 just so i could add some low end. i chose the pr becuz scott (owner radioactivity) said they kicked ass for cheap subs, personally i thought he was full of chit...but read on.. The Install the sub is in the recommened 1ft^3 with 6in^2 of port. yep just 6 square inches! the only thing i changed was port length, as memphis recommends a 40 hz tuning, i added 3/4" to the port length, hopefully bringing it down somewhere around 35-37 hz. The Power yeah right!! it's getting fed a rated 70 wrms @ 4 ohm from a memphis pr 140. fred (local memphis rep) says the amp is actually closer to 125 wrm…

hey guys i have a quick question i recently built a box for two zcon 12 inch subs. it consists of a single 6 inch aero tuned to 37 hz only 9 inches depth in a enclosure 5.46 after sub displacement it seems like the sub closest to the port is unloading or sounds Blown at frequencies higher then 40 hz but the one on the left doesn't do this.. could it be the encloser is causing the sub to unload and sound distorted? i had designed a different box which would be a slot port with these specs gross volume 6.98 ft^3 port volume : 1.43ft^3 physical port length 20.00" port bends : no Baffle displacement : 0.19ft^3 port area range 60-80in^2 port area 81in^2 port area per ft: 16.2…

Hey guys. I finally blew my alpine type R 15 after 4 years. Had my alpine mrd m1005 running to it in a sealed enclosure. It was loud and got 141.4 db at a local comp I did just for fun to see how loud I could get. Time for a new 15 to replace it. I'm wondering if anyone knows a good 15" that compares to the type r or better that will run off that 1000 rms nicely. Many of the subs I like seem to be made for ported enclosures. I'm not against ported box but can't afford to have one built right now and I always liked the sound quality from my sealed. I want to go for a ported box in the near future but want a well built one with low port noise and tuned. Does anyone have su…

I own a 2006 Scion TC which is a hatchback as the trunk is not sealed off at all, it's just behind the rear seats. Now, I ordered a stereo integrity 15" Mag that needs around 3.0 cubes for sealed, and 3.5 for ported according to stereo integrity. The sub will be powered by a directed audio 1100.d which puts out about 1200wRMS at 1ohm. The only real way I could pull this off and still have trunk space is by having the speaker fire upwards, into the top of the hatch glass. How would this sound in my car compared to the same sub firing towards the driver's seat or the rear of the trunk? Also, in real world terms, how much louder is a ported enclosure tuned properly going to …

I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4 Door and the only thing that you can fit are 8" subs. I was looking at the Kicker CVR 8's and I am probably going to get those because nothing has a mounting depth smaller than 4.5" inches. I was really really considering the Ascendant Audio Assassins but I just recently found out the mounting depth is like 5.1" or something like that. So please help me with what 8's I can get in there, I want something pretty loud. I have friends wtih like 2 12's, and most of them have 2 10's....not really loud 10's or 12's but you get the gist. I have mostly only heard of the basic brands like kicker, jl audio and those types but let me know if you know any…

Alright peeps its almost rebuild time in the work truck. If you dont know, im running 4 sa8s on a saz3k @1 ohm in 2.2 cubes @35 hz. it sound pretty loud but im just not satisfied. I want it louder. I have about 2.5 cubes to use but im limited to the 4 8s or 2 10s because of height restrictions. any suggestions?? Im thinking maybe 2 Nightshade v2 10s on a saz3k or maybe even 6k if needed as i have a few saz3ks stashed away. Dose anyone make a louder 10 that would work in my space? im pretty sure i have the loudest 8s out there. any thought?

As title states, Equipment: -Alpine 9835 in 3-way mode, HP for Tweets, BP for Mids, LP for Subwoofer. 6/12/18/24 dB/oct slopes at various FREQ's. - RE XXX 6.5's currently in .25-.3 cubes SEALED door pods. (2ohm) -Vifa 1" Neodymium Textile Dome autosound Tweeters. (6ohm) -Kicker KX 600.4, 150x2rms for mids @2ohms, ~45-50 x2rms for Tweeters. I haven't even turned it on yet, but currently I have it setup as follows: Sub: LP @63hz 24dB/oct Mids: HP @63hz 24dB/oct, LP @2.5Khz 24dB/oct Tweets: HP @2.5Khz 24dB/oct I would like input as far as the FREQ/SLOPES go, ESPECIALLY the slopes. Is it ALWAYS good to go with steep slopes for ALL settings? Is it better to use say, 12,18 dB/o…

I ran across this video today, and it made me wonder if this guy was talking out of his ass or not. What he's saying does make sense to me, talking about a square has more surface area to push more air out then a round woofer would. But if that was the case, then how come almost no manufacturer on this site even offers a square in any of their lineups? This part didn't make sense to me, because from what this guy is saying, everybody would be designing square woofers right?
