I'll skip to how this box sounds since that is probably what most of you are wondering about. To initially demo the sub (kove armaggedon Z) I put it in a sealed 1.3 cubic foot box just to get a bearing on how it sounds. I'm using a nice dvd player, horrible receiver (I have no idea where the xover is set but it sounds high like 150) and a Tapco J2500 pro amp 2500wrms at 4ohm. I ran through my normal sound quality music at low levels to both break in the subs and just zero my ears to quite volumes. While playing Claude Chaloub's self title cd I noticed the sub seamed to peak in the 50's and 60's (which yes could be that sealed box) it also seamed to sound a bit dry in term…

Hey, Yall I just made an account for this page and I have a very important question... Last week I switched my set up from a 1.9 cubic foot sealed box with 2 10" kicker comp ds to a 2.0 cubic foot ported box and I have an awful smell at high bass. I did take my truck and have a local audio shop tune my kicker 1200 watt amp and it still smells... The subs are in perfect condition but they are about 3 years old but the box is a week old... If you need any more info please respond on here or email me at [email protected] Have a great day!

I'm looking for some expert advice from the makers of the drivers. About 2 years ago I purchased 2 18IBs. I built a IB sub in the ceiling and about 2 months later I sold the house and moved. Before moving I pulled my 18s from the ceiling and now they are sitting in my closet. The big problem is my new home is not conducive to the IB design (no basement, flat roof). So, the question is can I use the IB drivers in a sonotube design? If not, why not? If I did, although it may not be ideal, what should I expect? Any light you can shed is much appreciated. Richard

I feel bad for only giving it 600 watts right now until I find my new amp. Hunting a PPI a1200 or PC2350 badly for it. But damn does it still sound incredible with just 600.

After rocking a DC lvl 5 15" now for about three years or so it has finally gone on me. I blew the voice coil the other day and well its time to move on... I know I can recone it and probably will do that and sell it, its time for something different. I am thinking about 6 8" subwoofers for about 300 square inches of cone area. Seeing as I am limited on trunk space, the box will equal about 4.3 cubic feet and that will give me enough room for my amp and bats. With the lvl 5 on full bore, I was staying in the mid to lower 14v so I figure I am good on electrical for now. I will be pushing these 8s with a SAZ-3500D and probably wire the subs to .66. If I do that I will have …

Hey everyone I signed up here awhile back, but have only been able to lurk here and there. Anyway I'm gonna pull the trigger soon and get a sub stage, but I'm not sure which sub/subs I want to buy. My new sub stage will pretty much be 2 12's in a ported box or maybe one 15 in a ported box depending on how much room I have or don't have.. I've looked through the 12'' subs in the store section from all the brands and a couple of 15's but leaning more towards 12's. My goal for the sub stage is pretty much output/loudness. I need some help/recommendations from you guys please and I'll provide more info if you guys need to know anything else. Sidenote: Car is a 2011 Ford F…

Alright, I've got the itch, I can't live with crappy sound in the Miata. I'm not going to do anything about road noise but I'm going to add some deadening to the doors. The plan is to put a 7" tablet, a miniDSP and a PPI 900.4, and do a simple 2-way install, without a sub. Midbasses are going to be a set of Adire Extremis 6.8. I'm already using a set in the Jeep, they dig down deep enough for what kind of listening I want in the Miata. Plus it's a pity to let my extra pair collect dust. Tweeters vs Full-ranges...the car has narrow A-pillars, speakers should pair up with the Extremis (I've seen them used up to 1.6-2k in home audio) and shouldn't be over $150. Wha…

I had planned on getting a caprice but I don't think that is gonna happen any more so I am stuck with my existing car, a 95 Acura Integra. So I plan on getting a new sub but only one. And I want to use my existing amp, a Viper 2500.1 (1500x1@4ohms or 2500x1@2ohms), well because I have it and I don't want it sitting collecting dust. So I am looking for a single sub that will hump like two and take massive amounts of power. And to make it even more difficult, one that will operate at one of the above ohmages. And I do not have a problem setting gains really really low to compensate for a woofer that can't take as much power as I have. New or old.

Hey guys New to the Forum so dont hate if this is in the Wrong section . Alright to the point Im doin an install this comming spring The front stage is Focal Utopia Tweeters/Mid/Mid bass (1inch,3" and 6.5") No Rear stage. This is being installed in a 1991 BMW 850i (This is a Daily Driver) The truck space i have doesnt allow for a 13" or 15"sub So im planning to go with 2 12 inch subs ( Sealed Enclosure? ) This is my first install so i do not have a prefference yet to if i want a lot of bass or a little nor do i have much listening experience to other setups/speakers. What im looking for from my subs is bass that i can feel in my chest and to have clarity i dont n…

Alright peeps its almost rebuild time in the work truck. If you dont know, im running 4 sa8s on a saz3k @1 ohm in 2.2 cubes @35 hz. it sound pretty loud but im just not satisfied. I want it louder. I have about 2.5 cubes to use but im limited to the 4 8s or 2 10s because of height restrictions. any suggestions?? Im thinking maybe 2 Nightshade v2 10s on a saz3k or maybe even 6k if needed as i have a few saz3ks stashed away. Dose anyone make a louder 10 that would work in my space? im pretty sure i have the loudest 8s out there. any thought?

Hey guys. I finally blew my alpine type R 15 after 4 years. Had my alpine mrd m1005 running to it in a sealed enclosure. It was loud and got 141.4 db at a local comp I did just for fun to see how loud I could get. Time for a new 15 to replace it. I'm wondering if anyone knows a good 15" that compares to the type r or better that will run off that 1000 rms nicely. Many of the subs I like seem to be made for ported enclosures. I'm not against ported box but can't afford to have one built right now and I always liked the sound quality from my sealed. I want to go for a ported box in the near future but want a well built one with low port noise and tuned. Does anyone have su…

Before anyone asks, not the Blazer, but a Blazer. 12" sealed in about 1.3 cubes with a Hifonics Z600 on it. If and/or when Jake ever shows up on here he can vouche for what I'm about to post on. Our bass demo CD that we have made has everything from Tocatta in B (off the Bass Mechanic CD) to Tricycle (for dynamics) to Bela Fleck, to Spies, to...well you get the picture. Tocatta (sp?) in B is just nuts. Unlike the previous generations of Mag's, there is no shelving off in the extreme low-end (the older Mag's would drop about 3 dB but keep that same level through the lower freq's). As the bass drops, the Mag just keeps the SPL the same. This single 12 off of 600 watts…

Kevin just posted it on the Skar Facebook "Who would be interested in a 4" Coil, 12/15/18" SPL Monster woofer? 2500 Watt RMS Power Rating (Conservative). A little side project prototype I am currently working on - if there is enough demand I will probably put them into production, I personally love the idea of making them - 6 Layer Spider - High Roll Competition Grad Foam Surround - Ultra Strong Paper Cone - 20mm Top and Back Plate - 4 PC Ferrite Magnet Motor Assembly (220mm) - Qts 0.52" I cant get over how Familiar this looks to a new sub woofer coming out from another company...

I know this thread is a teaser because we don't have the pictures uploaded yet, but as of last night we finished up our latest HT. The system includes a Denon 7.1 receiver, Denon up-converting DVD player, Panasonic 1080p HD projector, HDMI cabling, 20 Hidden Audio transducers, 124" 16:9 screen, Lutron automated lighting, MX900 remote, 2400 watt amplifier, and four BM 12's ported to 30 Hz in a 12 ft^3 box. The neat thing about using Denon receivers is that the upper models (this customer has a 987 model) have a 7 band EQ per channel, where each channel can be EQ'd independantly or the same EQ setting applied to all channels. The receiver is also super user-friendly and v…
