Ok life's been hectic. Accepted a job offer starting out almost five bucks more an hr than I make now.. after 3 years. The audio has been on hold. Looking for a tahoe or gmc yukon. Just want opinions. Either going to order my second dc level 6 18.. or just order a pair of ssa evil 18s. For the price of one sub is close to just ordering the evils. And I know y'all are biased. But that's ok. I the level 6 is a skull cracker.. But not very musical. I don't want something just for burps lol

i have been instructed that you can not use multiple mid bass drivers (or multiple midrange/tweets either) because it is not possible to setup proper staging with this configuration. staging being set via the dsp to push the sound stage past the physical limits of the vehicle. is it true that multiple drivers are next to impossible to setup a sound stage on?

i cant seem to find ANY worth while information on the Rockford 8 and 10" mid bass drivers on their website. no frequency curves, t/s specs, they look like parts express PA speakers to me... does anyone have an opinion on these things? just want to know if i should even consider them I'm shopping for midbass for my doors in a 3 way active setup, I'm considering JL C7 6.5, ZR 8's, hertz 7" mili's or their 10" SPL. (really just in pre planning stages here) my truck is loud, i like my music loud, i want acceptable quality and clarity in music but have no intention of ever going anywhere near iasca...

Hi, does anyone know the diameter on a soundqubed hdc3.110? Manufacturer doesn't list this, and I can't find it anywhere. I've got an odd shaped box I want to throw a pair in, but I need to make sure they'll fit first

I was playing "Clearest Blue" by CHVRCHES and it was pounding, in a moment of foolishness, I pumped up the sub out volume on my HU and the sub was putting out some serious bass and then nothing. My fears were confirmed when I pulled the XCON 10 yesterday and saw the broken tinsel lead. I knew I didn't cook the coil as I didn't smell anything, in fact, the coil looked perfect. I do NOT want to do this again. I've had the XCON for over 2 years now and it's in a box designed by SSA. I've fed it with a Rockford Fosgate T-500 bd, then a PPI Black Ice 5000 (1700 watts rms @ 2 ohm (per manufacturer (yes, I know that number is grossly over inflated)), and finally on a Rocf…

I have a '17 Challenger I want to add some bass to as I only have the 6-speaker factory Alpine system with no subs. I'm back and forth with what I want to run as far as sub stage and need some advice. The goal is for good SQ while still getting a little SPL. I have a little over 2 cubes max in the trunk, but I'd rather use less than that. I also want a lightweight setup as I'm looking to have a birch enclosure made for it and would want the smallest setup possible that fits my goals. I wanted to try a ported single 8" but can't seem to find any good examples in trunk setups which makes me think it wouldn't be worth it, and just step up to a 10". I have about 900…

  7. I’m looking at fitting 2 15s in my back seat. Does anyone have any experience with the hdc4 and the ssa zcon. Trying to figure which will want more or less box size. Heading towards the less side for overall fitment purposes. Can’t decide between the 2 subs. Price is close to them just not sure what to go with. I’ve only owned a sundown x15 and 18. So don’t have to much to compare to. Also will be playing hip/hop music as a daily. With a soundqubed 3500 and adding another later down the road.

I'm reconing my XCON. I was going to have The Speaker Exchange do the work, but after they told me $80 an hour for labor and it could take 2 hours I've decided to do it myself. Problem is I didn't order glue from SSA because I wasn't expecting to do the work. Does Lowe's or Home Depot sell a glue that would work? Thanks

  10. Am currently looking at subwoofers to upgrade from my lowly Powerbass S-10D's. Have been running a Lightning Audio 1001.d monoblock @ 1 ohm for the last year, and every time I get it cranking, the amp shuts off after 10-15 minutes, blowing fuses. I am running a 250 amp alternator, and a brand new 1000ca/800cca battery, with 1/0 run back to my distribution block, and a 14" 4ga run to the amp, with the big 3 under the hood. Will be adding a second battery, under the hood, as there is a second battery tray. I really don't want to run much more power than what I already have, as I don't want to get into having to add a dual alternator, or putting another battery in the back. …

  11. Pretty much as the title implies.... I've got a 2004 Yukon XL, and I'm updating the entire system. Just replaced my alternator with a 253amp model from a 3500 series pickup (factory option! bolted right in!), will shortly be wiring up a second 1000cca battery. Dual 1/0 runs to the rear, fused at both ends. Currently only running (1) amp, and old Lightning Audio 1001.d @ 1 ohm, will be swapping that out, most likely to a Skar RP-1501.D. Two Powerbass S10-d (dual coil) subs in a 2.7-ish cu ft box built into the rear quarter panel. Tuning is way too low, probably about 24-25Hz. Factory speakers in the doors and rear pillars, will soon be changing them out - probably doing a …

Hello all. I can't remember for the life of me but does a coil impedance tend to rise slightly or fall slightly after a sub has broken in. Planning my second sub soon and the first was supposed to be dual 1. Showed up with one at 1.4 and one at 1.6 brand new. Last i checked one was a 1.8 and the other a 2 Kinda confused me as I had ordered a dual 1. Dc offers a dual 1.4 and I wonder if they hadn't sent me the wrong load to begin with.

  16. Hello all. Need some assistance. I have a 2011 Lexus GX 460 with Mark Levinson sound system. The system sounds great except for the sub.I have pulled off the back panel and reveled that the factory was a 10" sub. I currently own a Alpine PDX 600.1 I will put that behind the panel and will replace the sub run a LOC. I checked the factory sub and it was 8 ohm surprisingly but know if I replace and wire up a replacement sub it will not give me what I am looking for. I previously had my PDX 600.1 running a JL Audio 10-3v3 it does not fit its around 6" mount depth. That sub in a small sealed box rocked and am looking for something similar in the factory location. I migh…

So the speakers in my 04 Accord just arent cutting it. I had them sounding good on rap, country, pop, etc but when it came time to play bands like a day to remember or wage war they just were super harsh. So I played with the EQ today and had to basically lower all my settings to make it bearable on the kind of music. It still sounds pretty good on other genres but just not as loud as before. In the past I have always ran coaxial and it is what I prefer for ease of installation. I've also in the past used the HU to power them. I've run Polks DB series many times and like how they sound, also I run JBLs in my gfs TL and they sound pretty good too. But I figured I'd see wha…

Thought I’d share a few pics of the DCON’s I was originally running. The original subs we used in the Traverse after I got the rest of the system installed. They were originally ran on a Zapco Z-1KD but after a fateful incident with an open sunroof during a rain storm it had to be replaced. I had an Arc Audio XDi 2000 sitting in the closet and the only amp I had that remotely fit in the amp rack. The DCON’s were dual 4 ohm and wired to 1 ohm on the Zapco for a very reasonable 1,000 watts to the pair of 400wrms rated subs. I wasn’t too terribly keen on running them on the Arc 2k at that ohm load at first but since one was making a noise fresh out of the box I…

Okay so I just got a sundown ev3 10 installed in my 04 accord coupe. I had a box custom built for it. The box is my first ported box so Im just wondering if this is how it should sound or not. I noticed while playing a few songs that the higher notes that my sealed setups hit well weren't really being played by this sub. So I found a test tone sweep that swept from 25-150hz and played it. Sure enough the sub falls on its face around 50hz, whereas the sealed sub in my gfs car doesn't start to die off until around 70hz. Any help would be appreciated because I just don't like how it sounds. It does however absolutely slam the lows. The setup is as follows: HU: Ke…

  21. I don't normally make these threads but.....(says every guy ever...:D) Anyways, right now I have a 12" DCON getting 350wrms from an Alpine MRX M55 subwoofer amp. The amp will do up to 550wrms @ 2ohm so i'm looking to find a subwoofer that will do well with that power, and would obviously need to be single 2 ohm or dual 4. I absolutely love this sub, but i'm just ready to try something new with more output, and all the affordable- to- me SSA subs that do well with this power aren't in stock yet. I have a 2002 Grand Prix and the current box I have is 2.25cf @ 30hz. I can build a box up to around 3.5cf with the space I have, and I want something that works well por…

Hi guys, I am putting together a SQ system for the wife. She just got a new truck, which is a 2005 Nissan Frontier with a crew-cab. I plan on purchasing a head unit almost entirely for bluetooth capabilities. I have narrowed it down to the Kenwood KDC-X501 (120 USD) for its ability to connect to 2 Bluetooth devices at once and support of aptX. This will allow minimal audio fidelity loss when paired with an aptX tablet. (tablet not yet purchased) The tablet would be used as a source for Spotify premium and navigation through Google Maps. Signal from the receiver would then go to a DSP. I'm undecided on the miniDSP 6x8 (300 USD) or the new Rockf…

  23. Ok so I see a lot of conflicting answers regarding a small box if you plan on over powering your sub. Be believe in it, others say it's a lie. My question is if you're gonna over power a sub. What would be considered smaller ? I'm thinking about 2 15s. They call for 3-4 ft3 but I'm thinking of putting them in a 5 ft3 box. After displacement and port. Im looking into the sp4v2 and putting them on a hd8k. I know they are underrated. And the taramps is over the rms slightly. So I wa wondering if this will work out well. The reason why I'm asking is because I don't wanna sacrifice more space for my box. And seeing how the 8k is more than enough for the subs, I …

  24. I destroyed my tweeters and need help choosing on a replacement. I can see some of my ignorance on the install also, such as poor aiming. So I am hoping to learn the rest of the tricks to installing tweeters. The tweeters are Seas 27tffnc/g. They sounded very clean and sterile, and I cant say I ever had a complaint with them. I feel what i was lacking was more due install perhaps. That and my listening style. I do 90% of my listening on the highway with the window down. Thats NOT going to change. I don't do demo's and rarely even have someone in the car with me. As far as what was lacking. I could never quite get the vocals to sound "full" or "natural". P…

  25. Hi I am looking for subwoofer recommendations for 12 inch to be used in a SEALED enclosure I got 3 cubes GROSS and 2000rms to play with I want the subs to be able to get low, so f3 has to be in the mid to low 30s I also want them to get LOUD with high SPL so i guess that means it has to have strong motor and plenty xmax Some subs i was thinking of are: DC level 3 12s SSA gcon (these are 750 rms each, would 2 of them be ok on 2000rms? i dont know if these subs are underrated or not) SSA icon (these are 1250 each...would 2 of them be on on 2000rms?) IA lethal injection (no idea what the F3 is on sealed boxes on this sub) Image dynamics IDMAX v3…
