So I have a JL Audio 10W3v3-2 and it was making a weird scratching noise. Completely random, would happen at any volume and would come and go with no real reason, sometimes it wouldn't do it for days, sometimes it would happen many times a day. I took it out of the box looking for some explanation and could see nothing, so it cut it open. The only thing that looked a little off was what looked like some corrosion on the coil itself. So now I have the motor and basket just laying around and it seems a shame to just toss it. Does anyone make a recone other than JL that will work??

first off i havent been on this forum in a while but im looking for a new setup soon and getting back into the scene. so anyway i sold my friend my fi bl 15 in a 3.4 cu.ft. box tuned to i think 30hz. i had it in the trunk of my 95 civic running off of a sundown sae-1200D and it sounded good and hit pretty low. once i installed it in my friends late model malibu it was running off a sundown saz-1000D it honestly didnt sound to good at all. so he is looking for more and he wants 2 15's but i told him its not gonna fit, so i suggested a single fi btl n2 12 or maybe 2 bl 12's, hes not rich so his buget isnt to big. any suggestions would be great thanks!

To run from my alt to my Sub amps, the guy said I could get away with it, if I put in a special fuse.... I am So just kidding, don't shoot.... Not even ure how I came up with that as I was typing... lol... But, Seriously on the speaker wire, think 12 ga would be decent enough to run from the amp (100.4) to the cross overs to the mid/tweet sets(Polk MM6501s)??? I was getting ready to oder some power wire and I was like, Ohhh, I need some speaker wire too.... Thinking about just buying a spool of 12 ga Stinger from Darvex... I would like to oder it all from one place if I can... If I have any left over, which I'm sure I would, I'll just keep it around for a future install…

Im trying to decide which 12" sub i want in my car (its a 75 Chevy Nova hatchback). I listen to almost nothing but rap and i want to be very loud with one 12. Amp is a sae-1200dv1,im going to do the big 3 in 1/0 gauge, and i replaced my alternator when i rebuilt my engine but i have no idea how many amps it is. My budget is $350 so ive been looking at the Mach 5 spl,fi bl,and aq hdc3 copper...open to suggestions,i will make the optimum enclosure for whichever 12 i get. Im leaning toward the mach 5 or aq for when i want to upgrade my power instead of having to add another sub and amp.

  7. hey guys i have a quick question i recently built a box for two zcon 12 inch subs. it consists of a single 6 inch aero tuned to 37 hz only 9 inches depth in a enclosure 5.46 after sub displacement it seems like the sub closest to the port is unloading or sounds Blown at frequencies higher then 40 hz but the one on the left doesn't do this.. could it be the encloser is causing the sub to unload and sound distorted? i had designed a different box which would be a slot port with these specs gross volume 6.98 ft^3 port volume : 1.43ft^3 physical port length 20.00" port bends : no Baffle displacement : 0.19ft^3 port area range 60-80in^2 port area 81in^2 port area per ft: 16.2…

Im about to be getting my car and my system is going in ASAP. I know I want a D2, but I cant decide which size. I would like to have a 15 since it gets louder and lower and I mostly listen to rap music, but will the 4.5 cu ft box fit in my trunk ok? I am getting a 1990 BMW 325is so it has a decent sized trunk, but how big is it gonna be really? Anyone have any pics of that sized box? Also, do you think I REALLY need the 15? I plan on running 1100 watts to the sub. This will be my first system so I really don't know a whole lot about the actually sound of things, just word of mouth. Yes, I know I will have to wait on a 15, but if it will work better for me thats no big dea…

Hi, I'm about to sell my Xcon 15" locally. I know I will buy some more Xcons in the future, but for now I think I'm going to get the new Fi BTL. Here is my problem : I have a ported box with (2) 4" psp ports, 17" long each. Net volume (with one xcon) is about 3.1 - 3.2 ft3. So tuning is around 32-33 Hz. What would you do ? Get a 15" Btl or a 12" ? The box is on the small side for a 15" and maybe too big for a 12". I can make a smaller box in the future, but I need to use this one for a moment. Oh, I forgot to say that my car is a hatchback toyota Auris 4 doors, with a small cargo area. My amplifier is a Sundown saz 1500, and my electrical is good for the power I use. I w…

well. i was going to get a 12 inch d2, but then i heard about those darn 15's. i dunno what to do. ayone know how a 15 compares to a 12 d2? my only reasoning for going to the 15's would be to get louder, and deeper. box size cant get much bigger than about 2.5 cubes, sealed.

Well I have a SI 12" sub thats been in my room all winter waiting to be installed. Well then early spring I decided to change almost my entire system. I now have a Arc Audio 2500XXK to run my sub. This is one sick powerful amp at 1 Ohm which I plan to run that way for 1050+ watts. Anyway, I entertained the idea of putting 2 12" subs in my car, but then realized due to space problems in my trunk, that would not be a good idea. So now I am wondering with that amp, should I go with a single 15" instead? I assume the box would be a little bigger, then the box for the 12" but not nearly as big as what two 12" would take up!

  14. Ok I dont understand how the guy from the tahoe is running 12 tweeters from one T600.2? Yes I also dont understand how two 1000.4 amplifiers are running ten 6.5inch speakers, two 4inch midranges and two 8inch midbass Can somebody tell me how is that wired? doesnt so many speakers on each channel cause the impedance to be insanely low causing the amp overheat or inestability? am I missing something here?

How big of a difference in SPL and SQ do you think there would be between a 15" and a 12" Fi Q. Would be in a ported box built to recommended dimensions. Oh, and powered by a Kicker zx1500.1 at 4 ohms for around 850 RMS.

  18. I have about 1200 watts to work with and 1.1 cu.ft. of airspace per woofer. I'm looking for 2 12's that will do great with minimum airspace. My box is 2.2cu.ft. tuned to 32hz and i am not going to go with a one sub setup simply because of the cone area and i was wondering what you guys suggest.

96 civic coupe with an aq2200, optima d35 yellow top up front and a kinetic 3800 in the back (overkill?) with a 200+ amp alt (havent sourced yet). plan is to seal off the trunk sub n port goin into the cab. box wise im looking at 5 cubic ft or so after port and sub displacement. so... 2 fi q 12's or 1 btl n2 15? both would be fully loaded (cooling and extra spider for the Q... high xmax coil and cooling for btl.) i listen to alotta stuff so im thinking tune the port to 33-35? if you guys have suggestions other then those please lemme know. thanks!

Hey Everyone, I am switching from my 15 BL to either 12's or 10's. I love the 15's but I sold one to a friend and am trying to sell another one that I never even used NIB. Anyway, I was thinking of doing 2 or 3 12's or maybe even 4 10's. I just have not really made up my mind yet. I have not had either and I was wondering which you guys prefer. If you were going to make a system and had either choice what would you choose and why. Also what brand would you go with, I'm looking for good loud subs that stay tight and keep there quality. For now they will be on a SAE-1200 but I plan on moving to a 2000 in the future when I upgrade my electrical further. Basically just …

My enclosure engineer keeps on insisting to make it 1.25 cubes. Couldn't break every1's advise here to go 1.5 after displacement. WTF is he recommending 1.25? This fukker is also not concerned about the thickness of the MDF, I cant remember how many times I reminded him to make it 3/4" inch. How thick are they usually? If it requires trimming to make it 3/4" of an inch, that f00ker probably wont even bother. =\ I think Ill get another one from Gnome. What is his site's URL?
