  1. I'm planning on adding an amp & sub to my 2012 Ford Focus and am probably over-thinking it. I'm primarily looking at a single SA-12 D4 but I'm open to suggestions. Yellow & white lines are sealed enclosures based on Sundown's specs and a 0.707 Qtc enclosure. Bluish & pinkish lines are based on my calculations and Sundown's specs for a ported enclosure. I was originally leaning towards a sealed box since I was pretty happy with my previous sealed Pioneer 10s at 1cu ft ea & ~250W rms total. Now that I plotted out some graphs, I'm leaning towards the 1.8 cu ft box since it seems to have the best low end response. FWIW, I plan on pushing it with ~500W rms…

I am not a basshead but do like to crank it a little for fun. car currently has no system in it but I got all the stuff except the sub(s) . I was going to try IB on the rear deck but I just dont like whats out there so I have decided to try to get the most bass out of the least amount of space. after I saw some little DD 6inch subs at local shop I decided to try maybe 8's . would 1 SA-8 be enough? I think all the reviews show people with multiple SA-8 I really need more time to research all this stuff. I didnt realize these were that cheap

Im set on the quality of Mahc 5 and its good reputation with customer service...so when i get the cash...ill be getting 2 15inch MAWs I want LSQ...a good mix...and from what i hear the maw sound good comparable to and IDQ, hit the lows, and get decently loud. For strictly LSQ would u go: 3.5 Sealed -or- 7 Ported tuned to 30hz ??????????????? or IXL-18.4 ported 7 cu. ft tuned to 28hz or 5 cu ft. sealed the speaker(s) would be going in a 1977 Buick Regal Coupe

Ive been looking at subs for a week and im trying to get the best sounding sub for the money so ive narrowed it down to the SKAR VVX-12 and the Sundown SA-12. I want some hard hitting bass but also great sound quality, durability and reliability. These subs seem to be exactly the same and ive heard that Jacob from sundown designed both of them?? What are their differences if there are any? they both seem to be of great quality

Ok so i have narrowed down my search to JL 10w1v3, sundown e10, or id10v3. They are all very similiar in price. Please don't bash jl saying they overpriced and the such. I would like real opinions on these subs. I have .63ft^3 before displacement for each sub. There is no other box or anything like that. This is what i have and im gonna use. I have a jl xd 500/3 that I can use. That amp would be fine for the id10's or the jl. The sundowns would need a bigger amp i realize that. All of this is in a 2007 ram 1500 quad cab. I have a prefab atrend bbox under the rear seats. I know this site is very sundown and ssa heavy in recomendations but the dcon is out of my price rang…

  8. Hey All, Trying to figure out how I want to setup my daily driver and would like some input from some experts (as I am not 1). I have 2 12" XCON D1's and 2 Orion 2500d's. The Plan: Wire each XCON in parallel to provide a .5 ohm load The 2500d's are not strappable but they should be stable at .5 with my electrical So the thing is, I did some testing on 1 of my 2500d's and was getting approximately 2200 rms on stock electrical in my friends truck (which was probably only putting out around 12V or so). By wiring my subs down to .5 ohm's I feel that the amp will be able to supply at least 2500-3000k rms to each sub. Would this be way too much for each 12" XCON (I don…

  10. Browsing around at a pawn shop around town and i came across this sub hidden in a corner. Owner wanted $90 for it talked him down to $70 lol. So now i'm trying to find any specs or t/s parameters on it just out of curiosity. I have already emailed MMATS. Anyone have any experience with this sub? Im assuming it's rather old by the looks of it.

So to start things off I have a 2000 Silverado ext. Cab. And would like to get away from the Coaxials I have now and put in two sets of Components. My plans are to put both sets of drivers in each one of the doors, two tweeters in the dash, and two tweeters in the back columns. I Personally am a Fan of Pioneer Premiers line of products when it comes to speakers. and this is what im looking to do. Front 6 3/4 Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS 50w rms 200max Back 5 1/4 Pioneer Premier TS-C520PRS 30w rms 150max For the most part I will be fading the music to the front speakers, the reason i am getting the back is for a little bit of a rear fill, and because I often have people in t…

Ok, I was getting ready to order some 10 gauge Knu speaker wire. Then I called a friend and he said he had about 40 feet of 8 gauge Knu wire. My question is can I use the 8 gauge or would it be overkill for the power I'm running? I will be upgrading amps in the future so if I use the 8 gauge I'll be set.

I don't have much room at all, so driver needs to be less than 3.5" depth. Looking for a dual 10" setup for sealed application. Was browsing what's available and came across: Pionneer TS-SW2501S4. (3" depth, 300RMS and 20-290Hz freq. range) Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD410 (3.5", 300RMS and 45-250Hz freq. range) Now, judging by spec Pioneer would be the one to get, more shallow and more broad range, including <30Hz. These are manufacturer specs so you never know though. Don't want to spend anymore that $150 each, and something that plays a wide range including <30Hz, as flat response as possible. So far that Pioneer looks like a winner.

So yet again for the umpteenth time I am changing my sub bass setup. Now that I have an excellent sounding front stage an over powering sub system ruins it. My front stage is also very loud, loudest front stage I ever had. Although I am not looking for the output I have had in previous sub bass setups it still needs have a volume level to match my front stage. One thing I can not have is a large enclosure. Largest possible would be 3 cubes gross. I am thinking about going IB. I would not have to mess around with an enclosure and from what I have read they are the most accurate sounding sub bass types. I keep eyeing up the Fi IB3 series but what other options are there? M…

What's up everyone. I've never had an American made subwoofer before and I'm interested in these two. I was locked set on the ssa zcons. Because of the tons of great reviews people give ssa, everyone races about the icons. I have a pair of re sxxv2 and the rms is similar to them, so I'm looking to upgrade so I was looking at the xcon's. But then I figured I might as well pay the extra $90 and get a zcon lol. Then after researching, ready to go through a it it, I notice the aa mayhem. The mayhem is $10 cheaper and 250watts more. And it looks crazy beefy. So I was thinking what's the deal with that. I got a taramps 5k to go on either or. And I'm trying to get L…

Ok. The proto should be here tomorrow. I am sending the reps pictures of the proto as soon as it comes in, but after I email the reps the pics I will post pics up here on this thread. The gist of the design of the new Mag's is basic: Newer, bigger motor. (triple stacked BIG magnets) New soft parts with lots of goodies (TBA) including Fibutron (protected/copyrighted) re-enforced cones. Higher power handling. The same SQ as before. And of course a few un-mentionables that can only be experienced by actually listening to the driver. Speaking of which... A 15" version might find its way to a few people, but no demo-ring will be initiated this time. Anyway, stay tuned to …

I ask this question running the risk of it possibly being an ignorant question, but ask it in unique interest nonetheless. Seems like when I got involved in forum browsing a while back all the hype surrounded motors utilizing xbl2 technology for their subs (adire, ascendant, re). I remember ascendant audio discontinuing the use of this tech. due to adire supposedly claiming the tech. was theirs and theirs alone to use blah blah this is all very vague. My question is with so much I heard about xbl2 and the performance that gave it a name, I can't even find those letters mentioned together anywhere on the internet later than 2006?? Did it just die out lol I thnk you see wha…

(says 1,000) weight? whats theyre best tuned at and box size? how they hit lows or are they straight comp subs? anything is appreciated cuz 175 for a normally 400 dollar woofer seems too low, or maybe something worth jumping all over

I'm going to go active for the first time and need some help. Eventually I'll pair my SSA Evil Mids and XCON 10" with Evil tweeters, but spring break is coming and I'd like to install what I have and run a temporary and inexpensive tweeter until the Evil tweeters come to market. Info: 2013 Jeep Wrangler, mids will go into the speaker pods mounted in the dash, on axis. The stock tweeter location is on 'tombstone' pods on axis on the top of the dash. I don't have any flexibility on speaker location as I frequently have the doors off. I take it off road and it gets a little wet so kick panels aren't an option either. I'll be powering the front stage with an NV…

  25. In the interest in trying to do as Sean (///M5) had told me I needed to do in my ON/OFF Axis thread I've been playing around with everything. I've been going through crossover and EQ settings on the components in the van, I've spent time playing with the components in the Jimmy (I can't drive it, may as well work on the audio, right?), and I've also been slowly buying up some other stuff to play with. I bought the Dayton RS180-4 mids from Ricksi, I bought a pair of Aura NS3 3", a pair of Fountek FE85 3", and a pair of FaitalPRO 3FE25 3" full rangers all for the sake of trying to train my ear and learn what problems and anomalies can and are occurring in the hunt to get …
