So I'm looking for sub. Nothing huge, a 10" would most likely be best. I would prefer a small footprint, so I was looking at some of the slimmers subs out there. Kickers, JL, etc. What is the deal with slim subs? Do they perform as well as their deeper counterparts? Any benefits to them other than the small boxes needed? ANd on the topic of boxes, I read how you needed a proper box to make the sub sing, but I am curious. 1) how do you determine port length? 2) pro/con of doing a bended port? 3) the box can easily be too small, but can a box be too big? Just some questions while I am learning everything.

I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S for front and Rockford Fosgate Power T1692 for rear. However, I'm a bit scared of the aluminum tweeter. I've had bad experiences in the past with non-silk tweeters (Kappa). I liked the sound from my CDT CL-62's with TW-25S silk dome tweeter. The Kappa's would literally give me a headache and make my ears ring. While TWO sets of the CDT's I could listen to full tilt all day with no side-effects. All properly amped. Another option for me would be the Image Dynamics CTX-6.5cs. But don't know if they are too deep (mounting) for my 2005 Civic doors even with spacers. They have a silk dome tweeter, but I heard they are harsh!. S…

2005 dodge ram 1500 I have this massive triple sub 10", shared lower vent, chambered box 16.5x20x49(with port).... port size is 2.25"x49"x12.5". I have 2 alpine swr-10d4(1000rms-3000peak), and one swr-1043d(600 rms-1800peak). all were previously ran in parallel @ 1 ohm (i think) going to a rockford fosgate t1000.1 power series. Suprisingly it hardely even got warm and pushes them hard. BTW!!= I just yesterday wired in my red top underneath my back seat and i have that wired to the bullz audio 2f cap=> everything wired to that...(i have a normal stock truck battery up front) My questions: 1.Is my port the right length?(can it sound better if made longer/shorter/complete…

Wassup all. I was thinking about revamping my car audio and one thing I would love to change is the driver in my sub stage. I have limited access to very few mainstream drivers like Kicker and RF. Both of them have some decent stuff but way overpriced and I have noticed most of them are pretty boomy and lack definition. My goal is to be able to tell the different notes apart and have the ability for multiple simultaneous bass lines to be distinguished so you know they are playing. I am looking at the Fi Q15 but am willing to look elsewhere in the 250-350 price range. My current amp is a Memphis MCD-1000. It is rated to put out 1100 watts at 1-ohm ( I know it can but it d…

Let me start this off by saying I have searched and read through many posts here and on the Caraudio.com and on theTCSounds forums to try and help me make this decision. Basically what I have is this I am planning to downsize from my current Eclipse 8122(TC7 motor) to a single 10. The sub will live in a sealed enclosure preferably on the smallish size as the reason for my downsize in system is that I have a new addition to the family and trunk space now comes at a premium! I have been looking at the following subs TC-1000, TC-7, RL-i and an Eclipse 8102 NIB off of Ebay. Based on what I have been able to gather the TC-1000 and RL-i are very similar in that they both use th…

Hey SSA! New member here with a few questions, hope you can help me out. I will be doing a build log soon on my 1994 Plymouth Acclaim. My plans are to have a single sub firing into the cabin with the trunk sealed off and the port through the rear deck. I know I will be getting a Fi BL but I am not positive on what size I will be able to fit firing forward ( I'll be making measurements tomorrow in shop class). I will power it with a Sundown 1500SAZ. Then for my active setup I want to run all identical amps so I will run a 100.4 (SUNDOWN) for my midrange and tweets and a 125.2 (SUNDOWN) for my midbass drivers. I know for sure that I want AA carbon fiber 7" for my mid…

My choices are a Fi ufo BTL 18D2 for 250 shipped, or a dc level 6 18 with enclosure, for 800. Is the dc a good value? I simply want loud as fuck. Which would you choose, and why? I don't know which is better for what i'm looking for; obscene low end. I am focusing on these two, because they are both purchases from friends, trying to help them out, as well as help my sound situation

Sorry, I hate to be that guy making all the stupid threads asking a bunch of stupid questions and in this case one that can't really be answered and has already been discussed to death. BUT... After all my reading I'm still not completely sure what to do. The vehicle I'm using is a Suburban so space really isn't an issue. Although I'd like to keep some usable space in the back. I probably want to stay under 8cuft unless going larger would produce substantial gains. I'd like to run no more than 3000watts rms. There's virtually no car audio "scene" where I live so this is really only for my listening pleasure, I'm not interested in competing since there's maybe a couple com…

OK heres the deal I went to quite a few audio shops today to price a box for two ported 15's and the answers that i go wasnt the ones i wanted. The only shop that was willing to do the work and told me they would fit is closing for renovation. so now im looking for some 15's that would work great sealed 15's or some that will work good in a small pored enclosure. Like i said in last thread i dont have an amp yet but im purchasing my whole system Monday. the max for each sub is $400...and yea im stuck on two 15's now even though everyone is going to suggest 12's

Ok guys here is the deal. I am putting together a system for a buddy with a budget of $800 for sub, amp and seperates. Details: 2004 Hyundai Sonata Source- Alpine INA-W910 4- Channel- Diamond D3 500.4 He WANTS rear 6x9's and 6.5" components for the front. I narrowed it down to: Rockford T1693 & T1652-S or Alpine SPR69 & SPR60C Now, for the sub. He is going to buy a Diamond HEX750.1 (1 ohm stable). My debate is going with either 2 12" DCONS ported or 1 12" GCON ported. Space is not an issue and I will be building a box to suit the needs of the sub. Any reccomendations on the sub choice or components???

I HAVE a set of discontinued Morel Integra Ovation 6 or 6.5" coax (point source) speakers. I had them installed in a vehicle I sold years ago but snatched them out of the car before letting it go. So I have had these put away since ~ '09ish I am virtually positive that there is a built in crossover in the back. There is a small plastic disc that simply peels off the back and I see what appears to be a capacitor or resistor whatever, among other stuff. IS THAT THE XOVER? your input is greatly appreciated and will keep me from pulling my hair out.

this would most likely go in a ford fusion and i love to listen to chopped and screwed music (im bumpin some real talk by trae chopped up right now ) so i obviously like it low.Ive made some previous post about 2 BL's with a mtx 92001 but now that im seeing the icons in all these crazy setup im thinkin i want a pair!! the videos are blowin my mind, my budget is no more then 2000 grand for everything, and i know the BL set up will be more unless i buy everything used but i really dont like doin that.So what setup will MOST likely get lower/louder (loud to me is having bass that is head pounding in ur face bass ) but i also love btutal low end bass. So what do you think wil…

I have a 2005 F150, Supercrew. I've come up with a plan of action that I had planned on doing. I currently have a Jensen VM9022( I know it's not the best), and 4 way 6x8 Pioneers(want to replace) I really want to components, with an amp and 2 10s under the seat(or if I can make my own seat lift) 2 12s under the seat. Just wondering if anyone had tried these yet? The specs seem to fit well into my plans, I've got about 450rms to play with at 4 ohms in a new project.

Hello everybody. I'm trying to build a small, powerful setup in my 2016 Silverado doublecab. I want to run 1 woofer. Breaking it in on ~2400 rms, then linking another amp going to 4800 once I finish the electrical. I'd like some clean sounding air movement. Not super into high notes, but I'd like to be able to hit the full range and then go down low with extreme authority. I'm looking to run this sub in a ported box as big as I can in the space I have, 2 cubes or less. Open to aeroporting. I've always ran single 15s but with the space constraints I'm open to moving down to 10 or 12. Interested in a nightshade nsv4 but can't decide/don't have the knowledge or experience to…

I currently have two Fi SSD 15's being powered by an Audioque 2200d. The output and accuracy of these speakers is amazing, but I feel it is time for a new system to toy with, so they will be going up for sale soon. Also, the box that they are in is slightly too large for my vehicle, so the configuration had to be sub up, port up. I am looking to do four 12's in about 6 ft^3 with a sub up, port back configuration. The only concern I have is losing the low notes. I absolutely love them and play a lot of slowed or chopped and screwed music. The 15's are tuned to 30hz and that is probably where the 12's will be tuned to. I am looking into four sa-12's, but am still kee…
