This is a re-post of my MAW-10 Ported Subwoofer Project. This subwoofer performs very well, producing nice tight bass. The rear porting gives some flexibility to adjust the response by moving towards or away from a wall. The MAW-10 driver easily soaks up all the power that the small plate amplifier can deliver. This subwoofer design easily outperforms my 10" JBL PB-10 subwoofer and it integrates very well with my Fostex FE127E Sealed Bipole Project. Over all, this sub performs very well and it makes for a simple and inexpensive project. Pictures and enclosure details are available at: MAW-10 DIY Ported Subwoofer Project. Cheers, Gio.

I've talked to several people and all seem to have a different opinion so I thought I'd get some feedback here. Currently have 1 Q18 Dual 2 ohm wired to .7 DCR on a Sundown SAZ 2000 Enclosure is 8 cf3 tuned to 29hz Been thinking about maybe picking up a second Q. I really like how it sounds but thinking about maybe going bigger and the black friday sale and my bday coming up I've been thinking about it more. I have the space to build for 2, although it would be a little more tricky since I'd have to build around the wheel wells. It's doable though. My concerns are if I get a 2nd Q I would have more cone area but running a higher DCR of 1.4 will more than likely cut down…

  5. I've been working on my system and slowly becoming more interested in sq than spl. So I guess I'm working on an ""SQL"" system. Loud and clean. Right now I've got 1 15" RE SX. And it sounds decent now and output is good. But I'd like cleaner. I have a friend that's intersted in my sub. So I've been trying to figure out what to get for a replacement. I can do about 4.5 cu ft net ported, or 6 cu ft sealed net. I'd like to spend under $400. I may have a line on a used 18" xcon. So that sealed or one 15" xcon ported, or maybe a par of used icon 15's sealed. I'm open to suggestions. Whatever I get will be powered by my saz-1500d. Or maybe 4 dcon 10's ported…

Now that my system has begun we are looking to build hers. Just on saturday she decided she wanted to start a system for her Kia Soul. This was decided when she bought an Alpine MRX-M55 amp because it was on sale at one of local shops.$230 canadian. I was surprised but happy. She bought it then asked if it was a good deal and a good amp. Guy at store recommended it to her. I figure good amp for that price. Anyways lol. Looking at Fi X12 or Gcon 12 to pair with this amp. She loves metal, Club and yes Bieber LOL so pretty much all types of the bass range. I'm thinking Gcon but she says why not the one you got which was Fi. Any input or other recommendations appreciated…

Just looking for opinions on these components. I have searched all over and can't really find any reviews. Just checking on here to see if anyone has heard a pair. I'm sure they have decent mid-bass just by looking by the design.

This box is very well built if I do say so myself. I do good work I am just slow to start anything. If I ever make a cut I get down to bizzzness but if I don't I just sit around and don't do crap. I have to find the pics I took of my Orion 2500 and the install I did for a friend with a CMPx2 15 and a Crossfire 1000d. http://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/463709

Looking for a quality sub right now for my first system and I'm thinking about a single 12 or 15. Listen to rap mostly when I'm driving but i like to mix it up with classic rock and pop/punk about 25% of the time. I've been told 12s in general are more musical, but will a 15 provide adequate response and accuracy, provided the right enclosure? I'm thinking about an Fi Q or SSA Icon or something similar b/c they've both had great reviews on here...total budget for the sytem(including wires, enclure, electrical upgrades if needed) will be in the $1200-1500 range...not looking to spend more than 50% on the substage(amp and sub). Any big differnces in the size of the driv…

Does anyone have experience with Audiopulse subs? My favorite sub setup that I had was 2 JL Audio W3D4 12s sealed with 500 watts. To me they got decently loud and sounded good as well. I was strongly considering a pair of RL-i 12s sealed, however they don't make 12s in the RL-i series anymore. Someone on here told me the Audiopulse Epic subs are the same as the RL-i series. I'm looking are a pair of 12s sealed that'll knock harder than my W3D4 12s and yet also sound good with 600 - 700 watts.

Well, finally finished. Excuse the crappy pics from my crappy camera. THe entire enclosure/rack will be pulled out in the winter to be painted body color with a little extra special touch as well. I'll start with the HU Simple ALpine CDA-7892. Cheap, sounds decent, and has all the processing this car needs for its owner. Next, Vifa PL 7" in the door and a Peerless tweet in the A-pillar. This guy is not worried about soundstage at all so these were pretty easy. Find a spot, slap em in and I'm done. Notice I wrapped the crappy stock grills with some cloth. I think this really cleaned up the look. And the crossovers for these. They are located in the stock rear spe…

Soon I will be getting an SUV, and I need some ideas. I want some loud bass thats impressive but not like competition grade i guess. My idea for a setup is Enclosure: http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/ported-dual-12-subwoofer-enclosure.html Amp: my current amp, 1700 rms at 1ohm. Subs: maybe 2 SA-12s wired to 1ohm. I was wondering if maybe 2 Gcons or Icons would be better in that box, or maybe two sealed SA-15s in a different box. Or one sick 18 sealed, just help me out here. Im trying to save space and dont want a huge box. Just send me some ideas please. I just want the most bass for my space, and money.

More and more people ask me about recone kits. They don't know where or how to order (they don't speak English !). I've tried PAP for a Soundstream XXX18", and the owner was ot happy with it. I've tried PSI for another SS XXX 18", and so far so good the owner is happy (he did 150.ish last week end; with one sub). But he does not play very often. Just received another one for a Lanzar opti 15". Lot of people say PSI parts are bad, like PAP, and It is difficult to order something custom from Fi. Where do you order your recone kits ? I'm looking for a good manufacturer. I don't want any more problem with my "customers". What other choices do I have ? Thanks for your help.

I came across some Clif Design subs that are built in America. I emailed them to ask who the supplier is and the tech told me to name a few and he'd give me a yay or a nay as they don't openly give out that info. About all I know is Eminence. Dayton? DD builds their own, right? So that's just DD. Do they build for other companies? RF has an american plant IIRC. I wouldn't think they subcontract. Does JBL make some here? ???

I am new to this forum and am a member of caraudio.com and mwcaraudio.net. I think its obvious SSA makes their own subs. I have run Sundown and IA and currently am in between systems, trying to get ready for MECA competitions in Va. My latest set-up was a 12" Warden on an RD 3250 V.1 My question is, what makes SSA subs different from the rest ? Being on this forum, i figure i can get the best answers from the company and members who have run SSA subs themselves.

  20. Hey guys its Max here I just thought I'd post and let you see for yourselves what the Magnum can really do when it comes to excursion, even though, strictly speaking, excursion isnt really that important, especially if you consider how important other parameters are. Anyhow. This a picture if a Mag 12" running off an RF1500bd in 1.8cubes tuned to around 30hz. Also, I thought Id let you know that we hit 141.7dB on the Termlab the other weekend with the Mag too, thanks to my buddy Bill's Termlab sensor You can all keep your RE's, eD's, JL's, RF's, Kickers - cos this thing does everything you'd want it to. Regardless what people think of its musical ability (a subjective s…

When I heard the Seleniums at a local car audio shop on the board it sounded like a midrange and I have been told over and over and over and over again that Selenium is a midrange speaker. Now with that said I decided to call Morel in NY and talked to one of their people about the component set I have in my ride. When I was on the phone with Morel they told me this if I decided to go active. Morel mid 80 Hertz to 3200 Hertz @ 12 dB Octave low pass Tweeter 3200 Hertz and up @ 12 dB Octave high pass. Ok I have the CVX's on a 2400 watt amp..puts out 1700 (RMS) at 1ohm...They are in a pro Sealed Box sprayed with Bed liner (pretty solid) and each chamber has around 2.2 to 2.4 cubic ft give or take!! If i put the Q's in the same box what will be the Differences?? I know the Q's will be more clear and crisp sounding... Which will Hit the LOWS better? Which Will Be LOUDER? Would do a ported Pro box but cant fit one in my Trunk..so Sealed is the only option Here!

I'm looking for the best set of component speakers around $100 and coaxial around $50-60. Doing a budget build in my new car. Speakers will be powered by NVX JAD900.5 about 70w at 4ohm First I was looking at the NVX V-series 6.5" component and coaxial. They have decent reviews I can get both speakers in a set for $129.99 What are some other options in the same price range. I'll be using a sundown sa-8 v3 for a sub. Just want something that will sound good with it.
