Current set up is as follows: 2 AA Poly mids mounted in each door. WELL deadened. 80-2500Hz Vifa XT25 mounted about 12" above mids. HP around 2800Hz Xovers done via a Helix amp. I'm very happy with how it sounds, but you know how the upgrade bug is. I'm considering going 3 way with a dedicated midbass to replace one of the poly mids. Something like this: Peerless SLS 8" 60-250Hz Poly mid 250-2500Hz Vifa 2800+ I would also need to get an electronic xover and am not sure what yet as I haven't researched them. I'm looking for more punch/kick up front, mostly for 80's rock/metal, so lots of kick drums. But I don't want to lose the incredible midrange output for guitars, etc…

I was wondering if anyone had experience with the JL Audio Stealth Box or similar products. I am considering a stealth install in my 07 Tahoe, with this as the possible cornerstone of low frequencies. I am also considering Diamond d661s component with the silk vs the aluminum tweeter. I plan on using these in the factory locations 6.5 mids in the doors and tweeters in the A panels ie the factory locations. I was also considering USD 6.5 mid bass in the rear doors also in the factory location about 6 inches behind the front buckets. Amps (amp) are/is up in the air. I was considering a 4 or 5 channel of unknown origin to achieve the solution. Musical tastes run the ga…

Hey all, I'm looking at getting some new gear for a 2000 Honda Civic Coupe. In the past I've had a set up that included: MB Quart Components front and rear, Eclipse 15 subs (2) and Fosgate amps to power everything (1 360.6, and two 250.2). I'm beyond the big boomy base and mostly listen to metal/rock (NIN, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Slipknot) along with some lighter stuff (Echo and the Bunnymen, Morrissey, etc.). I'm basically looking for a compromise of playing loud and sounding really good (something that doesn't sound muddy or tinny). I've listened to some Alpine Type X's and thought they sounded great. I'm basically trying to find a convertible/"coax" component set …

I'm thinking about replacing my two-way components with a DIY three-way front stage. I'd purchased a set of Seas CA18RLY 6.5" woofers and 27TAFNC/G tweeters last year, but the mids are too deep for the stock door locations. I ended up going with JBL P650c components which sound good, but I've always wanted to try something better. The plan would be to put 4.5" mids in the door panel, and put the 6.5" woofers and tweeters in the kick panel. I have a SAX-100.4 and SAX-100.2, so I should be fine with amplification. Any suggestions on 4.5-5" mids that will complement the other pieces but still comes in a shallow depth (<= 70mm)?

I keep on having notions to try the Havoc, Brahma and some other subs out there. I don't know why, just cause i like to try them. But those pre-order prices are so tempting. But my box is made for the Mag, but I don't want to use 1200rms on it!!!! AHHH the confusion.

So i've decided to go with the 18" BTL N2, but was wondering if i should get the cooling option or just the p chamfer because in the tech area it says getting the cooling will weaken the metal- what do you guys suggest i do- im getting all other options. Its going to be for everyday play. Thanks in advance.

Im about to buy 4 new subs, I have the DD M3a which says it puts out 2200 watts at 1 ohm. If I got 4 dcons, do you think they could handle this power? Or should I jump up to the 500-7000 watt speaker range? I heard the dcons are very efficent at 300 watts, I would be doubling their power. Im thinking I could do this if I turn my amp down so Im not giving them the full 2200 watts? Opinions?

Maybe somebody on here could help me with this question I have, I have two Brahma MkII 12's and they sound good I have a JBL BP1200.1 per sub, at 3.2 ohms in a 1.7cf boxes for sub. I want louder so I want to know should I go with a bigger box and leave them at a 3.2 ohm load or should I bridge the amp and leave the same box or bridge and go bigger box also. the amp is rated at 1200x1 at 2 ohms and 600x1 at 4 ohms, So I figured that at 3.2 oms I am running close to the 600 watts most of the time. Could really use some help, Thanks

When I was planing out my current system, I almost (like had them in the cart and didn't buy) some planar transducers and glassed them up on the A pillars or in the kicks of my Yukon. I decided against them based on some things I read about the diaphragm being so fragile. I read claims about air and heat damaging the diaphragm so I decided against that. I did have a set of Infinity towers way back that had a EMIT ribbon and I really enjoyed the sound. Unfortunately me being young and not having enough power on tap, I blew the EMIT's a couple of times and finally sold them for something that would get louder on my power. Wish I had those back now that I could take better…

Deciding between a 15" SI Mag D2 and a 18" RE SX. Opinions on both would be greatly appreciated. WHich one has better SQ, SPL, which one gets louder, etc. And my other question is, is the 15" SI Mag reliable for a daily driven ride? Will it play for me at least a year without requiring me to recone or replace something? And is it still durable enough to take to competitions a couple weekends a year? And this will be going into a 2003 Ford Focus 2 Door Hatchback, so I'm pretty sure it will pound. And I'm sorry if this is a repost, I didn't see a search feature. Oh, and great collection of smilies

http://media.putfile.com/MAG24 http://media.putfile.com/NEWMAG TOok out the ID overstock. Couldn't handle it anymore. ANyways, 2.4 cubes at 25Hz with only 24 sq. inches of vent. Powered by the rear channels of an Aura RPM4200 bridged for what they rate at 150-170 watts. Funny thing is, it was building up enough pressure in the cabine to feel air coming out of my window. Tomorrow will bring some more vids with some tones at 0dB and MAYBE the big bad JBL.

what can i put on the crack to help it hold together for the time being, its a sligh crack, and its not really getting any bigger, but it probably will with time, i bought it for the mini cooper, and im gonna use it until i need a recone. it doesnt have any affect on performance so at the moment a recone doesnt concern me. but im wondering if theyres anything i can put on the crack to help hold it together (hopefully something that wont be too ugly either) but ill have to live with it. Ugh.... So I was keeping this SA-15 I had near my closet next to my TV, not in use just holding it as I'm trying to sell it. I'm sitting in the opposite side of the room on the computer when a screw and clamp supporting a shelf in my closet rips out of the wall, a loud popping sound that makes me turn around in surprise. Amazingly the shelf manages to still stay up. I go over to inspect and see the clamp on the far left is not on to well. I wiggle it slightly, BAM whole damn shelf comes crashing down along with everything that was on it. We are talking a 3 foot long shelf about 6 feet in the air. I had lots of heavy schoolbooks on it, I keep jeans on it, notebooks/folder…

Trying to finish up the installation of two Havoc 15's in my truck, things didn't go too well as I had to mount and then dismount the subs 4 times till things finally fit right in the box and then in my truck. On the last time I accidentally dropped the screwdriver as I was screwing it in and the handle fell in, onto the full cone-sized dustcover cap creating a 3/4" long crack and wrecking my mood for the rest of the install. I'll post pics when I get over it, or drink enough not to care about material things anymore. In the meantime, is there anything I should/can do about this?

I read on a thread on here that a sub with say 90 sensitivity rated 500rms would be louder (on the meter atleast) than a sub with a 85 sensitivity rated 1000 rms. are there other factor involved in this besides sensitivity. like excursion, that would affect which one is louder. I ask because I was wonderin around on ebay and saw a sub called a AA Bass15 (I'm sure its not the same AA that some ppl on here use) and it has a sensitivity of 96 db rated 450/900. Thinking about the whole double power gains 3 db rule, mathematically it seems like this would be better than my audiopulse axis with 87db sensitivity rated 2500rms, but it does mid to high 40's. would that little e…

Hi, I'm building a box for a 15" BTL. My concern isn't neccesarily the box, but more technical things rather. For example I would like to know how much wattage/rms I can pull from having only one of the 15's. What would be the best way to eliminate distortion when running the speaker? I plan on running a xover so besides that I need help. I'm selling most of my old handmedown stuff and starting fresh. So, Since I don't have anything put together yet, I would like to have some suggestions on the best setup for having only one of these. It's going into the back of my Jeep Cherokee 92'. I have a few box designs up and if I can xfer them to my computer I will post them as soo…

I have 2 PWX8 4 ohm and 2 FT1 4 ohm and a Hifonics BRX640.4 which is rated at 4 x 80 RMS @ 4 ohm or 4 x 160 RMS @ 2 ohm. Should I run each speaker to their own channel or should I run one tweeter and one speaker in parallel @ 2 ohm 160 watts?
