  1. So I'm trying this whole active thing out with drivers I had laying around. I was actually pretty impressed how the random drivers sounded so I figured I could spend some money on stuff. But before I purchase, I keep seeing people saying that to make a certain driver sound good it needs a "notch filter" to smooth out the response. I researched and now I know exactly what it means, but I don't want to build one (mostly because I have no clue how to do that) so I was thinking...and I realized that they're using the notch filters for the same thing we use an EQ for in a car...right? I can smooth out the response pretty well (or I can pony up and buy equipment that can) elect…

Hey I am just wondering what would be better for SQ and SPL.. 2 x Maw12 in 3.6 cubic foot tuned to 32-33hz OR 1 x Maw15 in 3.0 cubic foot tuned to 30hz 500 RMS to either the 1 maw15 or 2x maw 12, so power is the same for both. Anyone have a decent answer?

I've had an Fi BL 15" powered by a Sundown sae-1200d in my 08' Scion tc for a few months now. Simply getting tired of having the bass drown out everything else. I know absolutely nothing about component sets or midbass speakers really, im finding this to be more difficult to learn about than subs.. I have never even heard any components or good speakers in person actually so I dont know how to tell whats good and what isnt. Bascialy my main goal is to have the vocals be heard clear and not be drowned out at all, especially when i upgrade to a btl 15" soon. Also i dont know much about tweeters I just dont want them to be so loud that it hurts my ears or anything lol. Spe…

  4. Hello, I am wondering if anyone would happen to know how big of a box and a great tuning frequency for a Incriminator Audio Judge 15" sub? T/S parameters would also be greatly appreciated. I just need to know the basics really, I can figure out the rest with BassBox Pro 6. So far I just been kinda guessing on what the box size should be. What I have gotten, was 5.5 Cubed tuned to 29Hz.

Im building a box for two kicker L7 15's [ 36"w x 20"d x 17"h ], to go in a 2005 monte carlo. not much trunk space. kicker says 3.5 cuft. with three 4" x 19.25 ports for each. I wonted to fire them to the rear with the the ports on the same face as the subs, but the 36" w wont allow for that. My problem is the port placment.. What would be the next best place for the ports? Thanks for the help.

I want to do the package deal for the xcon and the sundown 1500. This is a daily driver (300C) so I obviously want sound quality (which is why I assume the xcon is a good choice). Although my main focus is to hit the lows with some really strong output, because I listen to rap. I don't want to fold the seats down either, but there is a stock 8" in the back that I'm going to take out, which should help the sound in the cab. There is enough space in the trunk to build the optimal sealed or ported enclosure for the 12" and but only for the optimal sealed for the 15" So my questions are. - is this too much for the trunk, or too little (or the best option?) - should I run a …

SO, after too much measurements, calculations...ect. I could do a vented enclosure, 1.5" thick mdf all the way around, port it...and after sub disp., still net 5 cubes per sub. My question now is, what would be best in this "small box 4 sub" type of enclosure... RL-P, Fi Q, BL,.... would like to get loud but sound good, and these subs fit in that requirement 4 sure... "also need to see 1 ohm at amp(orion 2500D)" side note. or, maybe 2 DP's? more spl oriented of course. I was searching threw the SS forum, and someone said 5 cubes would be choking them...? is this true?, should I go Fi Q/BL w/options...? or should I stick with a couple 15"s...? as 2-15" properly boxe…

I'm reconing my XCON. I was going to have The Speaker Exchange do the work, but after they told me $80 an hour for labor and it could take 2 hours I've decided to do it myself. Problem is I didn't order glue from SSA because I wasn't expecting to do the work. Does Lowe's or Home Depot sell a glue that would work? Thanks

Ive heard differnt things, one being that the BL is more for the daily beater and the BTL for the "competion sub" Which is better for a daily sub that will not compete in SPL contests and who wants to have LOUD music.

  14. I have always wonder this, exactly what is the difference between these different speaker configurations. I want to know the difference, well the reason behind the following. Two-Way speaker Three-Way speaker Four-Way speaker Would like to know the Purpose, Pros/Cons of said above. Also, would appreciate some shed of light comparing this/these to an active or passive setup. For example, I know some people decide to buy a woofer for midbass/midrange purposes and company it with a tweeter. Ok, that makes sense to me. So in essense, is that what a "Two-Way" speaker is trying to accomplish? Taking that idea, do I apply the same principle for Three-Way and Four way? Where as …

Hey guys I have had an IXL18 in my car for a while now and i thought i would post up some photos and also some scores of my setup First up and most importantly flying the Mach5 Flag downunder Next is the driver itself The box is 160L gross with two 6 Inch ports tunned at roughly 35/36Hz, it was the largest box i could build that would slide in and out of the car without to maybe problems or effort Electrical consists of a Yellowtop D34 as the starting battery with an Auscell 100AH battery in the boot Now for the power, a Hertz HP1KD, a really beautiful """""SQL""""" amplifier that does rated power, runs cool and sound simply beautiful... http://www.emfcaraudio.com/emf-audio-ermagerd-18-dual1/ Looks like a sundown based company, anyone ever heard these? Another thing it has 50mm xmax, almost like re xxx series, so i'm guessing the response would not be as great compared to smd/evil series? I'm just a curious george about speakers! I searched around here I'm suprised nothing showed up about them.

Hello folks my name is David and im glad to be new member here. I have 00 s10 extended cab and currently bad subs now lol three yrs later 2-10" re audio sxx d2 in 3.50cubic ft box shared tuned 35hz with mtx 1501d and upgraded electrical system. well since i was low money wise do you think that the soundqubed hds200 10"s would be louder then what i had? considering amp is rated 1500rms@ 2ohms and subs was rated at 1100rms each but the soundqubed hds210 is 600rms each wouldnt it be just as loud or louder considering i would have enought power to push the subs instead of being 250-300rms short of the subs rating rms. I went ahead before this post ordered two of the sq hds210…

hey everyone. i'm in the process of piecing togethor my first system and i'm trying to figure some basic stuff out right now. i listen to a lot of house/trance and other electronic music, with some rock and a lil rap every once and awhile. my friends that have subs (mtx, jl w3), their setups sound great with rap but get muddy and don't seem like they keep up with the music when any kind of electro is played. I want my sub to remain clear and crisp. should i be looking for smaller a smaller 10" sub, or if i get more of an sq sub such as the ss rl-p will a single 12 or even a 15 be able to suit my needs? thanks.
