I have been out of the car audio game for sometime. One thing that has always been hard for me about car audio, is it is really impossible to say that brand x is better than brand y and that everyone has an opinion regarding their equipment or product line. Realizing that I also believe that there are products outside the main stream distrubtion that are equally as good if not better for less cost. This is where I want my journey to begin... I have ad 2 12's in a 2004 honda accord refiring. The sub brands were MTX 5000, Kicker Comp VRs, and JL 12w3v2s. (I realize this just dated my last setups......). I'm number crunching and having issues with depth. I know spacers is the "duh" option. Mids can't be inverted/wired out of phase right? All the sound would go into the door then huh? Why does it work for subs but not higher freqs? I'm havin a dumbass attack and need someone to explain this to me lol

Alright guys so iv got ideas floating around in my head that i cant just ignore. My first idea was selling my 12" bl and getting a 15" zcon for my civic, but then iv been thinking and im curious as to how cool it would be to have 3 10" smaller powered subs facing up and porting back in the trunk. Maybe like 3 12" dcons or fi x's. Would 3 10's off around 1200 watts be louder then my 1 12 off the same power? its almost triple the cone area and would be so cool to pop the trunk to 3 dcons or something simular haha . Or would i just be better off going with 1 15" zcon on about 2200 wats, if i did that then i would need a bigger alt bigger wire and so forth. How much louder if…

So im deciding on doing 3 10's here soon most likely the sa-10's. Hey all.I know im going to get hammered with "your a noob" and crap like that but I need to know something.Im pretty limited on space in the trunk of my 2001 galant.I need room for a box,batteries,ect and im trying to figure out which route i need to go.Right now I have sitting in my backseat 2 15" american bass xfl subs.I want to get a box built for them for my trunk but everyone on here and elsewhere seems to think the box would be to small for them.SO, I am wondering if I could get a single 15" Fi BTL N3 and get a box built to specs for the sub and be as loud as the 2 american bass xfls in a small box. My subs been "rattling" for a bit and finally went back there to listen to it and it sounds like this: http://imageshack.us/clip/my-videos/193/sdm.mp4/ Obviously it was playing at low volume, and I held the cam so close because I wasn't sure if my phone could pick it up as well as it did lol. Does it need a re-cone already or what? Ive had it for about a month, maybe less.

I'm leaning toward a Zcon 18. But , I have a few questions. First, would the z work in a fiberglass enclosure? I would like it to be an aesthetically pleasing enclosure as well as perform. Just want to make sure that beast won't destroy my box. Second, I listen to everything and was wondering if the z will keep up with all my music choices? Not really chasing numbers but, wouldn't mind doing well if I chose to enter a comp. It's going in a 91 dodge ramcharger. Will be powered by 2 planet audio ac5000.1d's ( 1600W rms each) strapped.

Well Ive Gotten used to my system already which is 2 HDC D1 15s...I wanna do 4 12s now (anything but Kicker) Any Recommendations??

$500 is my budget including shipping and in a 4 to 4.5 cubic feet box powered by a hifonics brz2400.1d . I was looking at the 15" btl fully loaded, 15" xcon, and the 15" zcon for $30 more. I'm going for spl, i just want it to be loud. for daily use also i thinking about 2 ssd 15 is a slightly smaller box then recommended. what are you suggestions/recommendations of other subs?

As my title reads, im putting subs in my 1965 mustang. im not doing anything big like my truck (12" orion hcca) i just want a little something. i was thinking about 2 10" kicker cvr's or 1 15 of something but idk what.IM NOT SPENDING MORE THAN 150 ON SUBS! i have a kicker zr240 (TRUE 500 watts) to push whatever i get. any ideas????? In a thread i started earlier i said i was looking to get an icon for my subs, but now that im very close to having the money to have the system put in im starting to lean towards the kicker comp vt for my subs. I was wondering if anybody had any expirence with these subs and if they are worth the money. If i got them i would get 2 twelves and a kicker dx 1000.1 to run them and they will be going behind the back seat of my single cab ford pickup.

hello, i have a good question here lol. i have 1 12" orion hcca (the older silver cone style) and was wondering, if it somehow blew, how would i re-cone it? will the new style hcca re-cone kit work? i wanted to e-mail orion but when i went to contact them, alls i got was a bunch of stuff about how i need to sign into this other website..... so i figured id ask incase on of you knew. any info would be appreciated

What would you rather do? 6 cheapish 12's in a sealed box or 1 awesome 18 in a decently big ported box? Both would be on the same power (2500 rms) But 6 12's has alot more cone area but a sealed box. 18 has less cone area but a ported box 18 would be a bit cheaper and better quality. But 6 12's have more cone area lol. So what do you guys think? If you have any other suggestions, I have up to 8 cubic feet before displacements. Have 2500 rms. Thinking bout running the Zcon or something similar for the 18. The 12's would be infinitys

Man just got a design from Ryan at ram designs. All I have to say is design looks awesome. Ryan was a great Guy to deal with fast responses was miss communication on first design and he got me another design within a few hours. Ok so here is my question. I am reconing my sub. My friend has leftover glue from his recone. He ordered this glue from Fi and it came with a bottle of activator. He gave me this glue for my recone and I need to know if its okay to use with out the activator. i placed a bead of it to dry and it hardened up, Do I really need it to complete my recone process. If not I have a tube of Goop that I want to use for the repair, I was told its okay to use it for the recone. If there is anything else that I can get locally please let me know. I did google to find out any info but couldnt find it. Thanks in advance.

Just looking through some websites dreaming about a future midbass/fullrange setup and happened across these speakers http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=297-210 I was just curious if anyone has any experience/opinions on these and if they would be realistic in a SQ type setup. Chances are I won't be upgrading my system any time soon but these caught my eye and at 12 bucks, I might order some just for the heck of it. Thoughts? Alex

Ok so I was wondering how well do Kicker L7's hold up. I'm not looking for great SQ or the Loudest, just a good in between that isn't extremely expensive. 2 12" L7 2ohm or 2 12" L7 4 ohm is what I was thinking. Also are Hifonics amps decent? they seem to be cheap... but is it just another "you get what you pay for" deal? or if you could recommend something else all together, I am use to lower quality/ older style MTX, Sony etc.

I was wondering if a single Nightshade 18 would be at home in my trunk as my daily driver. I would really like to get loud n' low. I'm putting it on roughly 3kw. Any suggestions?? Anyone have experience with the subs in their trunks?

which would be best for a daily driver? sa12's or ssa12's? i hear nothing but good things about both, just not sure which is more reliable in the long haul

what model is this FI? it says "15 BTL D2 PW PC" written on the magnet with a sharpie, im guessing thats from the builder? but i had someone tell me this is not a BTL, i need this cleared up since im selling it, and i dont wanna misrepresent what it is.. thanks

I know PA mofo's aren't all that. But guy at work has one supposedly barely used that I can get for 40 bucks til I can swing my Zcon. Think I should pick it up or just pass? It's a 12 BTW.

Hi all, A friend of mine has just blown its XXX 18" for the second time ! He doesn't know why ! The first time, he knew he had a very small box with a slot port, and he did not know the tuning of the box. He was playinf at full tilt with no ssf on ! Amp is a MTX te 4000. He has several batteries, and the big 3 done, now. I ordered a recone kit for him from PAP. They sent a kit for a 15" sub, and then the right one. (So I have free kit at home, looking for a sub !). After a few weeks, he was really satisfied, but on the 21st this month (it was music day in France) he told me he blown it again. This time the wire that runs on the spider has gone into smoke. So on the combo for the 15'' nightshade with the 1500d, it sais "Item not available", but on the sub and amp individually its in stock or 'allow 1-2 week build time'. so are the nightshades available for order? or just not the combo? whats the deal because im looking to buy in the next couple days.
