In a 2.0 @ 27hz for now, might modify a 3.2 @ 33hz for this sub.

Hi, I currently have 1 kenwood KFC W3012 with an alpine m500 amp running at 4 Ohms with 300 watts in a custom ported enclosure (my dad and I built it and it's not that good). I bought it about 6 months ago and am not happy with my purchase. It gets moderately loud in the mid-range bass, but when the songs get lower, it gets super quiet and just sounds bad. It gets the job done, but thats about it, so it's time for an upgrade. I have a crown victoria with the police package so it has a HO alt already, and it has plenty of trunk space for a large enclosure. My goal is to have the loudest system around 5-700 (not including enclosure). I listen to rap/ hip hop I've been doing…

I want to upgrade from a JL 12W0 getting 250 watts rms from a Boston GTA1005 in a Dodge Challenger coupe. I would like more trunk space, so any enclosure over 2 cubic feet will not be considered. The GTA1005 will not be replaced, it puts out 250 rms into 4 ohms and 400 rms into 2 ohms. I was considering the following but will certainly entertain other ideas. Thank you for your opinions and advice. 1. JL stealth box- JL 12W3- 2 ohm 2. 2 Sundown E8s in either ported or sealed. Plan to remove the rear 6 1/2" stock rear fill and fire subs through the rear deck into the cabin. They'll be getting 200 rms each. 3. Single JL 8W7 firing through the factory cut out in rear d…

Okay I am offering $10.00Cad to the first person to make me blueprints for 3 MAW10's in a ported enclosure.. they can be sperate chamber or all in the same chamber as long as the box is tuned to 29-30HZ. My trunk is: H-14.5" W-36" D-12" , The specs for the 3 10's show 1cuft per sub ported to 29HZ. I can't seem to do this for some reason so any 1 person that can draw up a blueprint will get the $10.00Cad.. PS- Port need to be in the front baffle of the enclosure, if all 36 inches are used... Thank you Justin

So currently I have my six sa-10's wired up to a saz-3500d @ 1.33ohms and I'm hoping to get more out of this setup. I have a second saz-3500d coming tomorrow. I'm thinking I'll bridge the two amps after upgrading my electrical (acouple d3100's). I'm curious if you guys think this approach is sane or if you think the subs are going to smoke from the extra juice. I realize this is most likely one of those near impossible to answer questions that gets asked here all too often. Also, subs are turned to 32hz with 1.3cf each. Thanks.

I just recently found out about these and I currently have DLS UP6i's in my 06 trailblazer. Would there be any advantage getting the AA Carbon's over the UP's? I would like a mid that does play better in the 50hz range. It might be just me or even the install, but I find the UP's to be a bit muddy when played loud. Would it be OK, to just swap the DLS's with the Carbon's? I have the doors deadened fairly well also Overall, my main goal is to have the mid dig a little deeper, and be a little cleaner when the volume is turned up. Thanks for any suggestions.

It seems like I need to build a new box for the BMW cabrio install I fixed. The car currently has a shitty ported box, which fires towards the back in a "tub" formed by a cosmetic fiberglass panel. Port fires to the front, into the ski port. Sub orientation has to stay as it is now, I don't want to build that cosmetic fiberglass panel. The main goal is to have a loud'ish sounding setup when the hardtop is off, trunk open and closed and something that can put up a half-decent score with the hardtop on. My first idea was to seal up the sub against the cosmetic FG panel as good as I can, use that as the sealed chamber of a bandpass box and have the ported chamber fire throug…

Where do i even start, when considering a subwoofer? i dont want very loud booming base. just enough to round out the sound. to produce lower frequencies and make it sound better. I have the ability to bridge 2 channels on my amp (Pioneer GM-D8604) for 300 RMS at 4 ohms or 250 RMS at 2 ohms. also, isnt this weird? i thought at a lower ohm, it would be able to produce more power? i guess you use whatever ohm the subwoofer is rated at? any difference between subwoofers rated at 2 ohm vs 4 ohm? What about size of woofer? 8 inch, 10, or 12, etc? i believe larger woofer produces more bass, can be louder. but also requires more RMS to power larger woofers. W…

Sorry, but i dont know the terminology for it but it the big ol rubber ring, and it has very small scratches on it, and it is thinner in this one spot. It still has plenty of rubber, and there is no hole yet, but i am afraid it may rip when i play it loud. I dont know how it got like this, but it have happened when i moved. So should i replace now it or what until it completly rips to replace it, also which one would you recomend, and how would i install it. I have a Fi Q12, and a memphis 16-PRD 1000.1, all in a 2.25^3 cuft custom box ported to 32 hz.

Hey ive posted before here asking about what subs i should buy to fit in the trunk of a 2004 dodge intrepid but never really came to a decision. But with the black friday sale i really want to make up my mind fast. I have a regular battery in the front and an xs 3400 in the rear. Did big 3 in 00 wire. And im getting a new alternator. Im not sure what amps i need to get to have sufficient power for 2250 watts rms. Any suggestions. For subs so far i like the idea of 1 15 in zcon, or 2 12 in icon, or possibly 3 10 in gcon. Im not sure if any of those are practical or not, so im completely open to suggestion. For enclosure im not sure if i will do ported or sealed it all d…

I was playing "Clearest Blue" by CHVRCHES and it was pounding, in a moment of foolishness, I pumped up the sub out volume on my HU and the sub was putting out some serious bass and then nothing. My fears were confirmed when I pulled the XCON 10 yesterday and saw the broken tinsel lead. I knew I didn't cook the coil as I didn't smell anything, in fact, the coil looked perfect. I do NOT want to do this again. I've had the XCON for over 2 years now and it's in a box designed by SSA. I've fed it with a Rockford Fosgate T-500 bd, then a PPI Black Ice 5000 (1700 watts rms @ 2 ohm (per manufacturer (yes, I know that number is grossly over inflated)), and finally on a Rocf…

well. i was going to get a 12 inch d2, but then i heard about those darn 15's. i dunno what to do. ayone know how a 15 compares to a 12 d2? my only reasoning for going to the 15's would be to get louder, and deeper. box size cant get much bigger than about 2.5 cubes, sealed.

Well, I just found out today that I'm gettin an '02 Dodge Dakota quad cab for graduation After doing a little searching, there are very few possibilities of having a sub in the truck and not losing any seating space in the rear of the cab (well actually only one - MTX thunderform, but I definitely don't like the looks of it). So I plan to but a small sealed box in the middle of the floor in the rear, on the transmission hump. My question: does anyone have any experience with subs in trucks (mine in particular) and if there is any major difference in sound/output between up-firing, down-firing, forward, ect... I have read that downfiring is the way to go for sealed an…

I tried to find other threads that might have helped, but didn't stumble upon any.. (maybe I didn't search the right keywords). But either way, my problem is that my sub will just randomly stop playing, and then start again. Here's my list of equipment - btl d2 sundown 1500d v.2 @ 1 ohm all knu wiring including big 3 alpine hu The first thing I did was check to see if it was the amp going into protection mode, and it's not. The blue power light stays on the whole time, even when it's not playing. The second thing I did was check to make sure all speaker wires were still connected/not lose, and they were all snug as a bug. I'm pretty damn sure my ground is good, as the ste…

Well, I think I am leaning towards two sealed twelves now, instead of an icon or xcon in a large ported box. Since IA doesn't post any specs on their woofers, it is hard to model responses and compare these two woofers. If I were to put these woofers into an optimum sealed enclosure, which would be better? What I mean by better is which one would give me the lowest extension, and upper extension, and the best SQ? Sundown shows an F3 of 44hz in a 1 cu. ft. box. that isn't too bad, and should dig pretty deep, but I cannot tell anything about the LI. They are both rated at 600 watts which will match nicely to my amp. They are priced the same. They both have great re…

I am looking at a pair of used Crossfire Db3 12"s, for my nephews ride. Not a brand I am familiar with, so was hoping someone had experience with them. The gentleman selling them only wants $50 for the pair, so right in the price range I want to spend on the kid. I know they are subs and will make sound, just making sure they are not majorly flawed by design or anything. Thanks in advance.
