Not breaking any new ground here, I know, but looking to get a bit more input before I do some spending. My ultimate goal is to have a great SQ substage. I was curious what the best route would be in terms of an enclosure. Sealed? Ported? Tuning? Size? Sub firing upwards? Port firing rear? SI Suggestions: Sealed 1 to 1.3 ft^3 Ported 2 ft^3 tuned to 32 Hz I'm sure I'll end up staying close to these, but which end of the 'spectrum' would yield the greatest sq potential of an SI Mag D2 12"? Other information that may or may not help: Car - 1999 Subaru Impreza Wagon (sub behind rear seat, ample enclosure space) Amp - USAmps DE1000 (1000wrms+ @1ohm) Deck - Pioneer Premier DEH-…

Whatsup everybody... I've recently decided to upgrade from my 12" mag to a 15 Now i'm tryin to figure out the ideal box size, etc for my setup. Its goin into an '02 Eclipse Hatch powered by a Hifonics BX1500d. I'm lookin to do ported, but space is a tad limited. I'm thinkin i wanna go with a lil more spl than sq, but still a decent mix. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

what 15" sub have the most potential im not looking for a high class spl sub or a one note wonder..i think im going to have a enclosure designed to have my subs firing into the cabin...im sorry for posting a thread similar to my last i just want to get all the info i can before i purchase my subs within the next week or so. since all these subs basically require the same size enclosure (3-4 cf) no need to post that, power will be no more that 1600/per. GOAL-loud as hell and able to take a beating daily and sound good doing it DC level 4XL FI BL (4"coil & Flatwind) Sundown Z SA-15

Alright so I decided to go for the two Sundown E series 12" subwoofers rather than the SA series 15" subwoofer. I was told and thought the answer was reasonable, that two 12" E series will have better SQ and SPL than a single SA series 15" sub. I was wondering if anyone had them(The E series 12's), and would recommend a certain Ported enclosure size, I'm going to use Aero Ports... My max dimensions are 14h x 34w x 20d. I don't want to go any bigger, I'd enjoy a little wiggle room in my trunk. Height and Width are maxed, Depth can be extended quite a bit. I'm thinking of tuning my box to around 30-35Hz. Has anyone had these subs in a ported enclosure, can you give me fee…

At low volume my subs really hit hard but it seems as if the higher the volume the less of that deep bass i can hear/feel. My head unit goes to volume 62. At 40 i can really hear the deep notes. Should i tune subs for the lower volume and just not turn it up passed that?

I am trying to stray my stepfather from going mainstream again and he wants a pair of kicker cvr's which I hear are good subs. But I see that the Maw's are cheaper and heard they sound better any way he is looking to through them in a sealed box as all he really likes is nice rear fill something to give him that nice kick drum in the rear as he listens to a lot of go-go music. Well some of you may be confused as to what is go-go music and the best way I can put it is this way imagine rock n roll with alot of percussions , bass guitars, keyboards, singer, rapper, and they do a lot of covers. So please inform me as to what would be a better setup for him. and will when SS A…

So I've made it pretty obvious that I was ordering a 10" ICON from SSA for a while, but haven't really put up my impressions of it yet. Well, just so happens that I got her in this week and have had a couple days now to play with it. But first, the pictures! Was too heavy for the wife to bring in...lol All concerns about this sub not being packed gingerly and braced to survive UPS' typical mishandling can now be dispelled. The foam blocks were glued to the shipping box itself and the magnet was held in place with more cardboard and a wood basin. I ended up pulling the sub out from the magnet side because I didn't want to damage the foam blocks Yay! I has a s…

Hey guys. I have no experience with either sub and I would like some feedback from those who actually have had personal experience with both subs instead of just guessing from specs. Which will be louder on 1400 watts rms amp? This will be a sealed box of 2 cubes with 2 lbs of polyfil. Usable frequency 30hz/24db - 80hz/24db. Personally when I look at the specs I am guessing the performance might be on par with the Xcon being a tad louder, but Fi is around 32 lbs and Xcon is around 47 lbs, so in terms of weight Fi is a better option, but is the extra weight of Xcon worth it if it is in fact that much louder? This is for a daily driver. Thanks

2 12's or 2 10's for small 4 dr sedan? (95 geo prizm) I've made up my mind on a subwoofer, I'm going to go with the Image Dynamics Version 2 but i'm not sure wether to get 2 10's or 2 12's. I don't want my trunk to rattle like hell plus I don't want to overpower my front stage. I'm going to have them in a custom built sealed in closure. Front Stage - CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System Sub Stage - IDQ10V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 10" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer OR IDQ12V2.D4 - Image Dynamics 12" IDQ Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer Thanks!

To start off I would like to say I have had a love hate relationship with my 12" zcon from day one and also noticed from day one that the surround had a soft spot in it but never questioned it cause it seemed to play just fine. It sounds fantastic on a handful of songs but lacks to play a variety of music very well which they claim this woofer to not be a "one note wonder". I know your enclosure has a lot to do with things so I thought maybe the zcon needed a better home so I moved it from 3 cubes @ 30hz to 2.5 cubes @ 32hz. The new box made a big difference but after having it in its new home for a while I still had a love hate relationship and found it lacking on a lot …

I need help picking a good set of components. I have 125w rms per channel to run them on and I need 6 3/4" size woofers. The amp I will be using is my US Amps USA-300. I don't really care about how loud they get, but I want to have the best sq that I can get. My budget is around the $500 - $600 range. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!! Edit: I forgot to add that I listen to just about every type of music, so they must be well rounded.

Alright guys I have a problem, my Bravox component set's left side tweeter isn't working. Before I took the door apart I switched the RCA's from left to right and the tweeter was still inoperable. Whenever I would hit a bump the tweeter would crackle and turn on then turn off. The tweeter was confirmed working On low power when i put the tweeter on the amp and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure what went wrong with the X-over seeing how I JUST installed and it had been sitting in my closet since i bought them and it hasn't been exposed to any moisture what-so-ever. I purchased them new from the SSA store some time ago.

I have been trying to plan out a complete system for my new 2011 malibu. I own 2 sa12s so those will be my sub stage. Amp I have my eye on a crescendo bc2000. Slight electrical upgrades will follow My situation... I want a clean front stage, my systems to date have all been drowned out by bass and I don't want that for this build. Although I'm not willing to do any heavy modifications.. I will be using stock locations. Doors take a 6.5 and there is a tweeter cutout in the pillar so a component set is what I'll do. Rear speaker cut outs are 6 x 9s I don't plan to seal off the trunk from the cab at this time.. maybe after I've got a system in there and play with it but I d…

I installed them today in the back of the rsx in a sealed box. They are running off a jble 1200.1. So far I havent been pushing them too hard because i want to break them in properly. They are running off the stock head unit spliced into my rear speaker. They wont get very loud but when they do they shake your whole body. They are very accurate and have great response to the fast bass lines. I'll be getting a real head unit next week and be ready to push these to their limits. Sorry for the crappy pic, it was taken at night with a camera phone.

A friend has some subs that suffered a poor recone job by their previous owner. There are gaps (air leaks) around the surround that I want to seal. It looks easy enough to do from the back, just peeling back the surround and dropping a bead of glue in. The question is what kind of glue do I use, and possibly more important, where can I find it? The only glues I actually have already are CA-based "super glue", various "goop" products, and 2-part epoxy glues. I want to buy the right glue for the job however if there's something better I can use. I also need to glue the dustcover, which is peeling off.
