so a friend of mine is looking to add a sub to his car, but he cares a great deal about weight (yes, contradictory, but to each his own). He's looking for a 10" driver that weighs less than 20lbs, preferably around 15lbs, that has awesome SQ and lets you slightly feel the bass. So far, he's looking at the eD 11Kv.2, Adire Shiva (having a hard to time to find this thing online), and the Seas Lotus SW250 (isn't sure if he wants to spend this much money, unless its 200% worth it). any other suggestions? Just received my 2 DCON's the other day, and couldn't help but notice the MASSIVE magnets on them, which leads me to wonder... Call me an idiot, but how does such a gigantic magnet (and all of the other high end parts used) only ammount to 300 watts RMS?? I see many other subs with SMALLER magnets (RF P3) that handle MUCH more power...?

I'm in the market for a 10" sub and only have space for a sealed box (will be fiberglassing to use otherwise wasted space). Been out of the car audio game for a few years and there's a lot more choices these days than I remember. So here goes, I have an old amp laying around that I'm planning on using and potentially upgrading the amp later on. It puts out 400-500wrms. If I upgrade later it'll probably be to something in the 800-1k range. I don't feel the need to go any higher. Any suggestions here to go SSA or FI (with the high Qts option for sealed)? Both subs are somewhat in the same price range.

Which pair of subs would be better choice with a sundown saz 1500d in my case... 2 12" SSA Icons or 2 Sundown SA-12's.. I drive a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire and in the front doors the speakers are 4x6" and in the rear 6x9". My current setup is Sony Xplodes in both locations so I'm looking to upgrade. I' ve already decided on getting a 12" Icon and Sundown Audio SAZ-1000D, but I'm unsure what to do about the rest of the setup. From the looks of it there really aren't that many options for 4x6" speakers that would be any better then my Sonys. What would you guys suggest in my situation? I'm just trying to price everything together for the setup to get an idea of the price and make any adjustments to make it more affordable if need be.

Hi I would like to find out if there is any big advantages to changing out my daily driver RE Audio SE10 (pre US AMPS takeover) to a SKAR VVX10 or SA-10. I have a current box built with approx 1.25cu tuned to 34hz, and will probally be using the same box. I want to try out a new sub only if it is better. Also running off a US AMPS Merline MD1D @ 1ohm. Thanks for any input.

midbass(6x9"s too he says) highs and it seems the "highs" are sharing airspace with the subs

I see a lot of sub comparisons but I haven't seen this one. Which would you choose for a pure sound quality setup. 1 Treo SSp 10 in a 1.3 cu. ft ported enclosure 34hrtz. 2 Fi SSD 10in. in a 1.85 cu. ft ported enclosure tuned to 35hrtz. 1 FI BL 10in in a 1.3 cu. ft ported enclosure tuned to 34 hrtz. 2 Fi Q 10in in a 1.85 cu. ft ported enclosure tuned to 35 hrtz. The Treo I know will fit but I am not sure about the FI Q or BL because the motor is so wide so I am asking about all of the ones I am considering. These will be going under the rear seat of my 2010 dodge ram crew cab.

I am looking into getting a new set of components and was wondering what all of you guys like. I am currently trying to decide between edi 6500's, jl XR's and diamond hex s600s, but Im up for any other suggestions. I have a budget of about 450 for speakers and an amp to power them. BTW, I prefer more of the smooth sound of a soft dome tweeter, but when i heard the aluminum dome jl I actually didnt mind it all. Thanks in advance. Eric

How much will the subs break my wallet for and do you think 6.416ft^3 @ 30Hz with a Sundown SAZ-2000 would be a good combination for your subwoofers?

Hey all, Im trying to decide what I want to do for my summer sub setup. It will be going in a 1998 Acura 3.5RL, trunk system with about 4ft.^3 after displacement. I will be using around 3500 watts for either setup and dont plan on more power (not looking for number really but that would be nice). Im looking for more of a daily ground pounder with a great low end response that can be brutal when I turn it up. For tuning im planning on 31hz, I listen to mostly chopped and screwed music/r&b/old school and rap. Here are the options, any more questions just ask. Well guys (and gals)... Sorry for the not-so-punctual update. But I've been busy...busy marveling at this thing ... First of all I'd like to thank Mike for the amazing opportunity to demo such a great subwoofer. Now, to get things started... WOW. I opened the box, and that is all I said. This thing is massive, especially for a 12. Obviously, with quad stacked mags...and the gigantic motor...but pics do not do it justice. As far as I can tell most people are mentioning 300-400watts for the Dcons which is fine for my current amplifier setup. Question is, if I upgrade to a JL 500/1 would it be overkill for the Dcon? I know seeing the full 500watts is probably not going to happen, but I would like to know if the Dcon can handle 500watts daily. Like 4hrs a daily 5 days a week. Also starting looking at the Mach5 IXL subwoofers since I see that as a similar recommendation when people are mentioning the Dcons. Any experince with either subwoofer would be great. Ok, I just got a long e-mail from the guy I bought my USA-600x from. He asked what my system was like, so I told him, and he claims I have way too much power! He quarentee's me that the USA-300x I plan to put on my sub (SI D2Mag 12") will blow the sub for sure, and that the 600x will murder my CDT ES520 set! This is his quote... i was just wondering how much the dc level 4 xl 18" subs cost ... cant find a price n e where ... i was thinking about buying 4

so,right now i have 2 12" kicker cvrs in my back seat because the box is too big for the trunk. i went to the shop to ask ab out getting a box made, he said 150. but he also said i should get rid of the kickers and get a 10" brutus, or orion, with a custom box and itd be way better than the kickers. so should i pay 150 to keep the kickers, sell the kickers and buy a brutus 10 and custom box for a lil over 200, or an orion 10 and custom box for a lil more than the brutus? i listen to mainly more rock, but lately ive been listening to rap cuz i like the bass. but still, i listen to way more rock. so what do you think?

looking to use 2 Mach5Audio MAW-15's or 2 mj-18's in a downfiring sealed box for my ht. power would be coming from a behringer rack amp. what size box would be recommended for either set-up . thanks

Had to killed the Treo system the installer and me was not seeing eye to eye and I was not going to give away money that I work hard for. Now need help on the new set and the only thing that I have my mind made up on is the and it will be an Alpine 9831 or 9831. There are four subs I thinking about :Soundstream T4 12, Kicker L7 12, Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 DVQ and the Alpine SWX 1242D. Just want to know out of the four which on would be the cleanest and hardest hitting sub? Not sure on the 6.5 and the 6x9 and the amps to run yet will read what youre think.

I know this may be a dumb question..but i believe a dumb question is one that was never asked!! so if someone would clear this up for me i'd appreciate it! ok my buddy just sold me his 15" fi Q dvc 1ohm... i already have a kicker cvx dvc 4ohm now i am gonna buy another fi Q but money is an issue right now and i need some knock right now so the question is if i wire the fi q down to 2ohms and wire the cvx to 2ohms will it be a 1ohm load or not? and why? i know they are different voice coils but 2 subs dropped to 2ohms=1ohm and my amp is 1ohm stable, would this work or will it fry my amp?

My 15" Mmats p2.0 is making a wierd noise from the dust cap. I don't even know how to described, but when I push down a little bit, at low volumes of course, the noise goes away. I let it go, and the noise came back. Any input?
