Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

Ok, im new to what im about to get into. never really graphed out the response of a sub i was interested in before. I purchased this program "subwoofer design toolbox" by Mark Rumreich. I have been punching in the few parameters this programs requires on just about every sub lately that i could possibly be interested in. Alot give me a weird looking graph that to the best of my knowledge looks bad, real peaky. so I run across an sa12 which is in my budget and just might fit my goals. Im looking for a sub that will basically be as much of a ground pounder as i can with 1 sub. I want it to nail the lows and sound decent enough everywhere else. listen to rap and bass heavy …

hello SSA goers...... today, i am wondering, what 2 10's, 212's, or 1 15 would be louder than 1 12" mtx 9500 but still in my price ranger? iv always owned kicker, mtx, rockford, but i want to try some of this "incriminator" audio or sundown or skar. i like trying new things but i figured id ask someone with experence. im having money issues and need a little cash so im selling both my 9500's ( 475 plus shipping) to get something a little smaller. if i get 2 10's or 2 12's of something, ill spend about 200 on each sub max. or if i go with 1 15, ill spend around 350-375. i have a '95 ford ranger ext. cab running a kicker zx1500.1 w/ 4 gauge wireing. i dont reallt have a box l…

I'm going to try and keep this as short, simple, and straight forward as possible. My trunk's cubic feet is 15.18 ... 2 18" Xcons Vas is 429, resulting in 15.14^3. Good match eh? I hate the idea of having just one subwoofer. I don't know why, but i just do. I want to see what everyone thinks about using Xcons in an IB setup? I read that it decreases power handling, doesn't sound as loud as an enclosure would, but saves space and weight. And hopefully allow me to utilize the amount of cubic feet i have and be able to use 2 18's! I'm just coming up with some ideas, so i don't know if this is just completely dumb or what But i want to keep a lot of options open. So ple…

Got a new vehicle, so its time to upgrade the sound system. Vechicle is a BMW 750i. The stock Logic7 system sounds better than I excpected, but the "subwoofers" under the front seats seem to be more like mid-woofers. I listen to mostly rap and R&B. I was thinking a single 12 or a couple of 10's sealed, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm also not brand biased....I'm just looking to get away from mainstream subs. I'm not building an SQ system or anthing, but I want a balanced sounding system. My goals: 1. Add some low end punch to complement the mids and highs without overpowering them. 2. Maintain some usable trunk space 3. Not destroy my car....(last system …

Okay, so when you wire three subs together, there are always weird impedance numbers. It's never a solid one or two ohm. It's always some strange decimal. Example: So I was wondering, what if you wired, say, two dual 1's together for a 1 ohm load, then wired a dual 2 to a one ohm load and plugged them all into the amp, would the third sub be in phase or all out of wack? I just want to know if this will work out, because then you have all three subs together on a solid 2 ohm load. EDIT: Just to clarify, the 2 dual 1 ohms subs and the single dual 2 ohm sub are wired completely separately and then the two sets of leads are plugged into the amp for a solid 2 ohm load.

Just wondering is these 2 subs could handle an AQ3500 (older model 3500@1ohm)?? If so, what would be the optimum box for them to be ok with this power?

I'm trying to get rid of my Type-R because it just doesn't sound that great. I've been going back and forth for the last few weeks with what I want to get. I've had a crush on the SA-8's since they came out, and I want to do two of them in either a great ported enclosure or a t-line. A couple months ago I got the bug for a 3512, which I would do either bandpassed or ported. A few days ago, a guy on PBNation got a pair of 1508's, put them in a t-line, and posted some videos, so I got hooked on that. For the last few days, i've been debating among myself which one I want. These would be powered by an AP15001D, so 1500W @ 1 Ohm. I've got a 98 malibu, and I never drag stuff a…

Would you guys be kind enough to recommend a pair of good tweeters... info. Budget- $200 - $250 for the pair Would be connected to a single channel with 160W rms in parellel, 2 ohm load (active). (sax 100.4D) Prefered, (but not limited to), to buy tweeter with x-over, hence gives me the option of going active or passive. Thanks.

I know from the two subs that their unstoppable but, i cannot really decide. I've been a huuge fan of Fi car audio and has been my favorite for years now untill i ran into ssa audio. The two are almost the same to me. I dont really know the difference between the two of them. Their both the same price and can take about the same amount of watts rms rated. Both have 1 ohm DVC. If there is anyone out there that has heard from these two subwoofers please help me. Is one for SQ and the other for SPL or something? I want something that can take a enormous amount of power and can take a lot of excursion. I wanted something that has a huge amount of kick and can be heard outside…

  16. Went and met with the owner today at his shop......we bs'd around for awhile and took home a few subs! They have the AMH, KMH, and BD Series...I snatched 4 of the BD series 12's (Their biggest at the moment) Rated at a "conservative" 1,000rms .....from what i have heard they are VERY efficient subs! Only time will tell....me and owner are building a box for them within the next week....I'm likely gonna tune them to 33hz....maybe lower. Maybe i'll do a review and throw up some TL vids.... Anyway....on to some pics!

Ive heard differnt things, one being that the BL is more for the daily beater and the BTL for the "competion sub" Which is better for a daily sub that will not compete in SPL contests and who wants to have LOUD music.

One of my friend has a problem with one of the 4 coils on his Soundstream XXX 18" (QVC 1°). I think it's blown; it was smelling burnt friday night. This sub is only a few months old. He had a Hifonics Brutus on it (3000 watts rms at 1 Ohm). He admits the box is way too small, and he never uses the SSF on his amp !!!!!!!!!! So, is it possible to find a recone kit for this sub ? And where ? Thanks in advance.

  23. alright, just got a new car (96 accord LX coupe), and I am putting most of what I already got as far as equipment goes into it, but need a new sub. right now I have my DEH-P600UB in my rocky with the rear channels of my 475a powering a really cheap audiobahn (AW1051 I think) that I found from a long time ago in a sealed box thats around 2 ft^3. its wired to 8 ohms so there is only about 90 watts going to the sub now, and its not crazy or anything but it is (was) a decent amount of bass for what it was. anyways I started hearing it make a horrible sound at higher volumes, the surround is actually torn about 1/5 the way around now. I am planning on using the same amp but ge…

What's up SSA? Hoping I could get some advice from you guys. I need a sub for my boat, but I'm just not sure which one will be best for my application. I like everything I've read about sundown so I'm leaning in that direction. I had an 12" Alpine type R powered by an Alpine MRP500 in a crappy best buy enclosure...I took it out, and looking for more The new sub(s) primary purpose is to get girls to dance on the boat. Most of the music played will be fist pumping club music, e.g., house, hip hop, and some rock. I want the sub to be loud and have a violent punch if that's possible. I'm installing 8 Exile SX65c's 6.5" speakers powered at 100w RMS @ 2ohm each. I had 4 SX65c's…

  25. this is a quote from some guy talking shit on my box is it even true what he says i think it sounds good "Pre-fab means Prefabricated. It means that the box was Pre (already) Fabrication (made) before installation. Even tho you have the measurements for the inside of the trunk. Doesnt make the box ANY better. The box you have I GUARANTEE you sounds like crap, just because of the fact that there are not seperate chambers for the subs. This means that the back flow (the air you feel, when the subs hit. IF you have a vented box); The back flow from the subs facing the back of the trunk are reverberating the subs on top of the box. This means you have double re-verb, which s…
