Hey, everyone. On www.sonicelectronix.com, i have found a pair of Alpine Type-X reference series component speakers that, including dynomat and baffles, will run me about 200 dollars out the door. These speakers are running 300 dollars for just the speakers on Alpine's site. The only problem is there is no shops around that have these speakers available to listen to.... What are your opinions on this speaker and would you have any other recomendations (perferably costing less money?). At the moment i am running stock 5X7's in both the doors and the rear deck so anything will be an improvement. I want something with a high quality sound and i've heard go…

  3. I've just got this sub and at first was very disappointed with it and the lack of output and low end bass it produces, it is in a sealed box BTW, so I thought ok, it need to wear it in.... so I've now had it running for roughly about 4 or 5 hours in total this week. It seems to be a bit better but still sounds just crap and pathetic with poor low end...especially considering its worth a lot more than my previous 8" sub My previous 8" sub picked up lows very well and had pretty good output for a $40Au ($30 approx USD) sub, I'd prefer it over this monster double stacked motored Rockford Fosgate It just isnt right and distorts really easy and the old cheap sub just puts it t…

I was curious of any of your experiences with 6.5" subs. I saw this thread on DIYMA as sometimes they get too technical for me. I was wanting to put two 6.5" subs in my truck, but I am curious how well they will balance with the rest of my system. I currently have 8" Rainbow X-plain midbass and Cal27 tweeter. I can fit 8,10,12,15,18...but if I can do more with less, I think that will be great.

Okay I am offering $10.00Cad to the first person to make me blueprints for 3 MAW10's in a ported enclosure.. they can be sperate chamber or all in the same chamber as long as the box is tuned to 29-30HZ. My trunk is: H-14.5" W-36" D-12" , The specs for the 3 10's show 1cuft per sub ported to 29HZ. I can't seem to do this for some reason so any 1 person that can draw up a blueprint will get the $10.00Cad.. PS- Port need to be in the front baffle of the enclosure, if all 36 inches are used... Thank you Justin

What's up all I have a Fi Q12 that needs to be recone. I read you can use a different brand recone kit as long as specs are right? Or Is it better to use a Fi recone kit made for the Q12 from Fi or does another companies recone kit work just as well? I've never reconed a sub before and as long as the same specs are used to recone the sub everything remainds the same (rms power handling enclosure sizes ect.)? Appreciate any feedback thanks

So I have installed a set of Sundown-cs6.5 and running off a ppi 900.4 in my car and have found that the tweeters are almost too harsh. From what I have read this is a characteristic of this style. I have made adjustments to my current amplifier and have not found a way to help with this. Looking for advice on helping me tune these in. Or if there are other options some help in a direction it would be appreciated. very new to this i have just been tuning with my ear. I also understand everyone hears differently before M5 starts bashing me for this.

  10. Have a question some of the old-school guys might be able to help out with. A friend of mine has no bass in his 98 Explorer right now. He wants something, but is on a very tight budget. I have had a new pair of old-school 15" MTX ThunderPro 750 watt subs tucked away in my laundry room. The ones with the red rubber surround. Don't ask me how I obtained them. LOL. I offered them up, and of course he accepted. My problem is, even though they are new and still taped up in their original boxes, there was no paperwork/specs with them. Does anyone know anything about these subs? How much box volume do they need? Do they like a sealed or ported enclosure? Etc. Just trying to help…

In light of keeping this from heading down the path of a this vs that thread I will just get right down to it. Currently I have two JL W6v2's sealed powered by a Sundown sax1200d. I originally bought the W6's from my buddy for one hell of a deal (2 subs in a box for $250). I originally told him that if and when he got back into car audio I would be willing to sell them back to him. As great as the W6's sound I am looking for more output while using the same amp. Currently I have a sealed box. About 1.25 after sub displacement and 9 inches for mounting depth. I know everyone wants loud bass while sounding great at the same time, but is there a sub that will be louder on th…

Hi guys, I'm from Puerto Rico so my english is not that good, but I want to try to communicate with all of you. I know this questions is ask sooo many times. But I want to know your opinion on this. My car is a 1994 Corolla, the amp is a Soundtream Rubicon 400.1 mono, and the sub would be in a .75 birch ported box, about 2.89cuft including port area and tune to about 38hz and I listen to a lot of hip-hop, electronica, and rock(not at high volumes). The 15" subs I been looking are: Mmats P2.0, IA 187, Treo Tsx and Mtx TR75. All of them dvc 4ohms. I want the best ""SQL"" possible because I know that with just 400rms I'm not going to reach high SPL. I want …

I picked up 2 re sex10 subs for super cheap and would like to know if its possible to recone them to SSA con recone kit? I'd like to try doing a recone but would rather not do a nice new sub. I know its probably dumb but is it possible? Both are 4 layer 3" VCS but I'm sure gap etc would come into play. Thanks

  18. Scooped this up for $40, thought that was a decent deal. Its a 12 and originally a dual 2. Id like to get a quality recone kit for it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Id like it to be a dual 1.4 with attached leads and as close to stock as possible, unless there's reasons I shouldnt. itll be used for daily listen, ill be runnin a sundown sae 1200 @ 1 ohm to it in a 2 cu ported box tuned to 32 hz. I have a 12 spoke basket I could use if that gives me different options; more excursion?

I have been trying to plan out a complete system for my new 2011 malibu. I own 2 sa12s so those will be my sub stage. Amp I have my eye on a crescendo bc2000. Slight electrical upgrades will follow My situation... I want a clean front stage, my systems to date have all been drowned out by bass and I don't want that for this build. Although I'm not willing to do any heavy modifications.. I will be using stock locations. Doors take a 6.5 and there is a tweeter cutout in the pillar so a component set is what I'll do. Rear speaker cut outs are 6 x 9s I don't plan to seal off the trunk from the cab at this time.. maybe after I've got a system in there and play with it but I d…

Hi, I have a Kenwood amp KAC-9104d. According the manual it max's 1800W 1 ohms >900W 2 ohms 900 W 4 ohms 500 w I want new subwoofer's since I found out the ones best buy recommended are too weak for my amp, and after hearing kicker is a pretty weak brand. I'm not sure what type of box I want yet, all I know is I want great sound quality and some good SPL would be nice too. Any recommendations are much appreciated. p.s. I listen to lots of rap/borderline rock
