hey i was just thowing together some fast 15 inch box approximations and if i stood the box up so the sub was firing at the back of the front seat i could only get 1 inch of wood at the top and bottom of the box becuase the speaker size it to big ( i got a max of 18.5 in so with 3/4 in mdf i get 1 inch of space at top and bottom. is that enough space or should i sit it down so the sub is firing upwards. if i do that i can get plenty of room. if i face it upward would it sound any differnt?

I really want a 18, extremely bad but I have been lead away from it due to trunk space. My question is, if I put a SSD 18 in a 5.5 cuft box how would it sound compared to a SSD 15 in a 3cuft box. I wouldn't have a problem fitting the 15 in but the 18 would be a snug fit, but its much more appealing.

space problem in my trunk i can create a box with external dimensions: 28x16x40 inches. It means 9.8cuft. I have 0.8' wall thickness and remain 8cf Vb for speaker. In this case i have 5.5-6cuft for speaker and 1.5-2cuft for port. I know for one 18' sub i need 7cuft , but my question is: I can create a box with 5.5-6cuft ? I can tuning it at 30Hz and works properly ? (If not i buy 15' and i create optimal box) thanks

I'm trying to make a descision between these 2 subs. I plan on running only 1, off of 1500 watts rms. I can make any electrical upgrades that are necessary. I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad-Cab, so space is somewhat of an issue. I currently have a box with 2 12's taking up 2 of my back seats, and would like to try and free up some more space. I have heard that the Sundowns do well in smaller enclosures. My main goal is to hit lows, get loud, and sound smooth. I listen to rap/hip hop and Chopped and Screwed music. Any personal experience with either of these subs is appreciated.

  17. I've got two 10" kicker L5s in my extended cab ranger right now, running off an SAE-1000D amp and it's not loud enough for me. I prefer something that sounds good, and I don't compete so I need a sub for a daily driver. Trying to stay around $250 per sub, I was looking at the Elemental Designs 16Ov2, SSA Icon, Mach5 IXL or possibly the AA Arsenal. Both the eD and the IXL stand out to me, I've heard some favorable things about them. I aim to buy one now and run it ported off around 1000W RMS, and add a second later when I get another SAE-1000D strapped (1800W). What would you recommend I get and why? I'm ready to buy now, I am selling my current 10s locally to pay for t…

My current box is 16cf net. with 232sq inches of port area, it was built for four 18's The first set of subs eD 19ov.2s [ pros] accurate, clean bass deep impact [ cons] weak suspension second set up audioque hdc3 18's [pros] durable, and veryloud [cons ] sounds like horse ass, lowend sounded hollow. Now i'm lookin at SSA X con. Just wanna know should i swap out 18s or build a new baffle and step down to 15's since my air space is limited for most 18s. I'm not an spl fiend nor an sq purist i just want a daily set that pounds hard and sound great at the same time btw my ports on my box is tuned@33hz

I'm wanting to build an enclosure for my 15" Ascendant Audio Arsenal. I haven't decided between ported or sealed yet, but I was looking for some suggestions on size for a sealed box or size/tuning for a ported box. About the only thing I've considered is I'd like it to be reasonably small as possible. I would also like tight, punchy, controlled bass as I mainly listen to rock. I sometimes listen to rap/hiphop/bass/techno (you know, the boomy music) every once in a while so I'd still like it to be able to hit. Can you give me a few recommendations on box size? I created a thread here, but it seems to have not been noticed http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showto…

I'm trying to decide if I should go with (2) 15" BTL's or (2) 18" BTL's? Its only about $60 more to go with both 18's over the 15's but i would be using the same rms going to them. what size sub would sound better/louder being they both are getting the same amount of power/rms? Pre-orderig a Sundown-SAZ 4500D

If i were to sell it, what do you guys think would be a good price? i got it this summer and have been very nice to it. sounds great, but i like the sound of 12's a little better (the 15 is just a little bit to low for a lot of my stuff.) but for the stuff that is low enough, it sings. def wanna stay with si
