I have been running my IA Death Row 12 for about 4 months now. It is in a 2.1 cu ft box tuned to about 30 hz. I like how it sounds and like its output. I recently took a trip home (7 hrs) with my car loaded and thought what if I had to change a tire. I wouldn't be able to get my spare out without taking the box out. My backseat was also full of stuff and would have had to set the box out in the snow. I have been thinking about running two tens that work really well in small boxes. I have heard the Dayton subs and really like how they sound. Very clean and detailed bass. My only thing is that I do not want to lose much output by removing my Death Row for something…

I'm really curious to see what the Le of an 12" XCON is. My heart has been set on an AE AV-X driver for the longest time, but i keep coming back to SSA and ponder if I should just get the XCON. I don't have an amp yet, it all depends on what driver I decide on getting. My hesitation comes from getting a high xmax driver. Every one I have purchased has such a high Le that they typically never exceed 63hz. yes, I know I could beef up my front stage, but it would require a lot of modification to either fit a larger driver, or another driver. i have an 06 Trailblazer so I have the space, but I would like to keep it as a sealed enclosure. I'm not to concerned with the spl, as …

I will be looking forward to upgrading the stock components in my 2008 xb here soon. Stock has a 6.5 in the lower part of the door and a tweeter in the door in the section where the side mirror is. I know from reading post that you should go listen and pick for yourself but the problem is I live in a small town on the coast of Oregon and the only place in town that has car audio.....well their stuff is at least 5 years old and 2x the price of retail. I can drive east about an hour and a half to Portland and check out stereo shops/stores but most I've seen only carry name brands at inflated prices. So should I just wing it and take a chance on a set? My goals are just t…

I have a Morel Dotech Ovation 6 two way components installed. I also have a pair of Selenium 6 inch midwoofers in the garage. Now here is the trick part guys. When I heard the Seleniums at a local car audio shop on the board it sounded like a midrange and I have been told over and over and over and over again that Selenium is a midrange speaker. Now with that said I decided to call Morel in NY and talked to one of their people about the component set I have in my ride. When I was on the phone with Morel they told me this if I decided to go active. Morel mid 80 Hertz to 3200 Hertz @ 12 dB Octave low pass Tweeter 3200 Hertz and up @ 12 dB Octave high pass. He was tell…

Hello guy was really looking at some new subs to replace my old jl audio w6 12"s. I was interested in the sundown sa12 model and been checking out some nasty videos where these sub can take a beating and put up some numbers. But was wondering if there where any standard cut sheets on these subs? I've seen on there website for box volumes. Was thinking on going ported and i have not built any ported boxes, but was just wanting to just get the dimensions and go.

  10. Ok I dont understand how the guy from the tahoe is running 12 tweeters from one T600.2? Yes I also dont understand how two 1000.4 amplifiers are running ten 6.5inch speakers, two 4inch midranges and two 8inch midbass Can somebody tell me how is that wired? doesnt so many speakers on each channel cause the impedance to be insanely low causing the amp overheat or inestability? am I missing something here?

  12. so i'd say about 4-6months ago i thought i damaged my RF power hx2 15 and was looking for a recone. it was making a noise like tinsel slap or dustcap rattle. i found a recone w/ coil and suspension upgrade to the team fosgate version. but i built a different box and it stopped makin noises so i thought it was the box. my box is way to big for my current car so i pulled the sub out, put the box in the garage and noticed this befor i put the sub up in the closet btw since its been a blown coil this whole time, the other working coil has been taking an saz1500 at full power...... the reason for the coil issue was i went a lil to hard on the sub when i got the saz1500......…

Hi, I will sell my Xcon this week. I have a wonderful deal, so I must sell it !!! I love the Xcon, but want to try something else. If I could fit (2) 12" , I would get (2) Xcons. Now, I want a 12" Fi Btl N2 to put in my 3.2 ft3 ported enclosure. I like it because of the "reduced" weight. I want to be louder than now, but still clean ! I listen to reggae and rap mostly. I thought about those 12"subs : Fi Btl N2, AA Mayhem, DC level 4 xl,... But what is your opinion ? What would you choose ? In the future, I will try a more powerful amp (2500 watts), and I will build a smaller box for the 12". I need room in the trunk to fit a battery and some groceries eventually ! Waiting…

Once I took my speaker out of the box I noticed some...issues.... Overall the speaker looks to be in pretty good shape except for one thing - the pad has come off between the cone and the tinsel lead / spider. On top of that, it looks like the tinsel lead came unstitched from the spider. I don't think this will be a huge issue but if there's a way to fix it I would like to try so I don't get tinsel slap (I think I was getting that before). Well here are my basic questions - - - - What kind of glue should I use to attach the pad back to the cone? I was told the glue "goop" should do the trick but if I don't have to run to the store I don't want to. Would just plain old sup…

I am using the CSI-DMR-2012A volt meter and I am trying to measure the impedance of my speaker. So I set it to the 200 setting (lower right hand side if you look at the picture) and touch the probes to the terminals and I get 4.0 - 4.2. This is a two ohm speaker so shouldn't I be getting half that? If I did my research and talked with the right people I should be getting less than half of that current reading for a dual two ohm speaker. I liked this sub until I heard another and now I realize it does sound about half powered so something is wrong here...

Ok so I'm about to purchase 4 8" subs to go under the back seat of my silverado, I have been wondering if anyone has any experience with the RE audio RE8s, ReX8s, or the sundown audio e8s, as these three all have good enough mounting depths. Please tell me which you find to be the best. I am looking for the all around best sub out of the 3.

  22. Will playing 5hz below my enclosure frequency be harmful for my woofer? My enclosure is tuned to 33hz right now, but on a couple of songs the notes drop to 28hz. My SSF is at 0 (dont kill me!) and here is why: The other day I played with test tones from 27-35hz and tried to set my SSF to about 28hz... For some reason no matter how much I adjusted the SSF to only begin at 28hz, it would decrease my 30-33hz output as well... As of now I keep it at 0 and just be careful not to play anything below 33hz too loud. Not trying play 20hz notes or anything, just wanted to know if its harmful to play a few Hz below your tuning freq. Don't wanna kill my woofer! Thanks!

Hi, I'm about to sell my Xcon 15" locally. I know I will buy some more Xcons in the future, but for now I think I'm going to get the new Fi BTL. Here is my problem : I have a ported box with (2) 4" psp ports, 17" long each. Net volume (with one xcon) is about 3.1 - 3.2 ft3. So tuning is around 32-33 Hz. What would you do ? Get a 15" Btl or a 12" ? The box is on the small side for a 15" and maybe too big for a 12". I can make a smaller box in the future, but I need to use this one for a moment. Oh, I forgot to say that my car is a hatchback toyota Auris 4 doors, with a small cargo area. My amplifier is a Sundown saz 1500, and my electrical is good for the power I use. I w…
