Subwoofers / Speakers

Ok so i have a JL Audio 12w6v2 and a Xterminator 1600.4 amp. My amp handles only up to 4ohms bridged but the sub goes 8 or 2. At 8 it sounds like the amp is pushing out all it can so i think it doesn't sound good, at 2ohms it sounds good but i cant turn it up becuase protection comes on. Is there any way to get the sub up to 4ohms by adding some kind of resistor? Has anybody done this before, if there is no cure i guess i can run my Alpine MRP-M450 which is 2ohms stable but i was trying to see if i could just use one amp. I'm new by the way lol Thanks,

Guys, Sorry wrong title I don't know how to edit title What will you choose between these two setup 1. DC Level 5 15" will be powered by Amp 3,000 watts or 2. Warden 12" will be powered by strapped two 2,000 watts amp. Both will have sufficient power to back them up.(HO Alt, batteries and big3 ) Thanks in advance!

She is a 15" right now and since I have a coil gone on it anyway she will be rebasketed to a 10" as soon as DD has quad coils back in stock. What do you think? Will she make a sexy 10"?

Hi ! Yesterday I received my 12" FI BTL N2. First thing first : the box was really heavy. They saiys Neodym would make the sub lighter, but I think it's heavier than a 15" Xcon !!! (I may be wrong, but it's 20 Kg). This sub seems small to me. I've been running only 15" subs for years now : S15 L7 kicker (in my car for now), Impact car audio 67 series, SSA Icon, SSA, Xcon. Maybe that's why I found this 12" so small !!!! Small and heavy ! I could not take pics because my new phone (BB curve 9300) doesn't have any light/flash for night pics. So I'm going to be using these little monsters in my dad's stereo & possibly in my own. I figured I'd show you guys some pics of them & ask for any ideas. I'm going to give my dad 2 & use 4 for myself. My question is what kind of enclosure should I use. Mainly asking about the 2 for my dad, I have never built for home audio & am working with a fairly large room. The rooms 20 x 14 with a 17 ft ceiling. Im looking for a new set of speakers since my current SB Acoustics are ruined by water damage from my current door panel. Im getting a new car soon and wanted to see if there were any pros or cons in swapping drivers. Currently I have no problems with my SB Acoustics SB17NRXC35-4. But if Im going to get another pair I minus well compare them to whats on the market now. I am looking to build a ported box for a pair of rl-i8s. The maximum trunk space I can give up is 37.5x16.5x8.5. Can I build a ported box this small and would these subwoofer be good for this setup? I am also considering useing 2 or 3 Crystal CMP8s. I am looking mostly for SQ but want those extra low tones a ported box can give. Thanks

I was originally going to go with a fully loaded Fi BTL 18", then I came across TREO. My 18" TREO SSX came yesterday. I can't wait to install it.

Well I purchased 2 15" ssa Icons from mark Drove all the way out from cali to arizona to pick them up... Put them in a crappy premade enclosure.. They have like 1.8 cft each if that.... more like 1.5... And lets just say they are amazing.... I can't wait to get them in a ported enclosure... They are in a 2003 pontiac vibe.. I broke my front winshield a piech of glass broke off and was stuck to my rear view mirror so theres a chunk of glass missing now were my rear view mirror is supposed to be... Anyways I'm going to be trading my car for a 64 Impala SS.. I will be most likely purchasing 2 more 15's and taking the back seats out of the impala the interior is shot anyways…

My friend wants an 18 in his jeep and I wanted to know how do the 2 of there 18" subs compare.. He wants a good sub for cheap so I told him Mach 5 was the way to go.

I am just about set on a Sound Splinter RL-p15 and when i get money i was planning on ordering one.... BUT, a dealer just offered me a brand new Adire brahma for 300 shipped. I have read that the RL-p and Brahma are very comparable subs.... just use different technology. I have never heard either and dont think i would be able to hear either of them. So, I guess i need your guys help in deciding here. Which way should i go??

I currently run a single 12 inch zcon and don't really have the room for multiple sub's or any bigger. I'm looking for suggestions on a sub that will get louder and lower if there is one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I could fit a 15 but I don't really want to build the box inside the trunk.

Ok life's been hectic. Accepted a job offer starting out almost five bucks more an hr than I make now.. after 3 years. The audio has been on hold. Looking for a tahoe or gmc yukon. Just want opinions. Either going to order my second dc level 6 18.. or just order a pair of ssa evil 18s. For the price of one sub is close to just ordering the evils. And I know y'all are biased. But that's ok. I the level 6 is a skull cracker.. But not very musical. I don't want something just for burps lol

Ok guys... here is what will be my spring project!! I have a 2k3 Grand prix GTP... nice size trunk, though i'd like to have as much of it left as possible. Here is what I am thinking: 2 15" Magnum D2's 2 PG Tantrum 1200.1's Sealing off the trunk and facing the speakers and port into the cabin. I will have to customize a way for my whole back seat to fold down, but i'm sure that will be managable. I figure I'll have to build this box inside my trunk to get it to fit.
