Hi guys, I need 2 12" subs for a friend of mine. He has an MTX TE 4000 to run them. He doesn't really know what to get. He drive a small car (renault Clio) with a hatchback. He will be able to fit a 3 to 3.5 ft3 ported box in his trunk. He's still undecided ! AA Mayhems are his first choice, but I asked Some info about the DC Level 4 xl, and he saw the Orion HCCA. He seems to like the Orion. But we never listened to any of those subs. What do you think about those 3. I think the Orion is not the best choice, but when he reads the specs, he likes them : low Fs, high sd, big motor !!! What can I tell him to choose? All those 3 are in the same budget , with shipping.

Alright, so here we go.. I want to upgrade my front stage while waiting on the Icon sub I have coming sometime this month.(already ordered) What I want to do it get rid of my Alpine 6x9s I have in the front doors and eliminate that horrid speaker the factory Toyota calls a "tweeter" ... I've somewhat bugged //M5 already and instead of continuing to fill his inbox I will give the SSA community a chance to jump in.. So I had found this chart: http://www.listenhear.co.uk/general_acoustics.htm I asked //M5 and he already stated that it is a decent chart but needs somewhat more range. So what my goal is and obviously this could be the wrong way in approaching it, but I hope…

  4. I want these: http://cdtstore.com/cl_series/cl60.htm Do I have to buy 2 sets? I'm a little confused as to how to purchase this. If I choose quantity of 1, does that mean I just get 1 6.5, tweeter and xover? So would I have to choose a quantity of 2?

I don't have a car yet being 15, but I still love audio, I have a 330rms amp in my room, yes, it's wimpy, but I'll save the big stuff for my car, any recommendations for a 12 that will work on that wattage in a small ported box?

So I was thinking about it today and I hear a lot of mixed opinions on subwoofer size and its benefits regarding sound quality and SPL. I'd like to here everyone's say on this one between a 10 a 12 and a 15 what are the main advantages or disadvantages of each of these as well as say 2 10s vs. 1 12 or 2 12s vs. 1 15 or even 2 or more 10s vs. a 15. what would you gain vs. what would you lose. As much details and actual real world evidence as possible. Lookin forward to hearing some good responses. Have at it. Also you could vote for your favorite setup above.

I have a sundown saz3500d im going to be using to power my subwoofer stage. i cant decide what subs i want to run however. im stuck between 2 Sundown NightShade V2 D1 15's or 2 FI BTL N2 D1 15's (i havent found any videos or opinions on these FI's really?). those are my main two choices but i have been considering saving the money and going with 2 of the sundown z v2 D1 15s. Is it beneficial to go with the top model nightshades compared to the z? in my video watching i have been very impressed by all the sundown 12's. i have also been giving the nightshade v2 d1 12s, z v2 d1 12s, and 4 d2 sa 12s some thought. id really like to see 150db on music, maybe wishing too big, b…

Hi all, I am looking to get a new subwoofer for my car. I have narrowed it down to the following based on reviews online..... All 12" speakers FiQ, Fi SSD, ICON, or maybe go with two DCONS or FiX's. I will have to get a box anyways, so one or two subs is an option. I have 1000watts @ 1ohm / 750 @ 2ohm to power the sub(s). I want something that will play tight, clean bass with a good kick but at the same time get a little loud if I want. Mainly rock music and hip hop, some jazz and classical. No country From past expierence I prefer the sound of sealed enclosures, however I would not rule out a ported enclosure if it doesnt get muddy or boomy. Oh, budget is around 300 f…

I want to upgrade my front stage in my Durango. I was to fiberglass my doors to hold a woofer (maybe 7-8"), midbass (4-5"), and tweeter. Looking at the Goldwood brand? Any other suggestions? This will be an active setup with a seperate amp to power each different set of speakers (1 for woofers, 1 for midbass, 1 for tweeters)

Okay so I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu. I just want to get a few ideas on how big of a box you guys think I can fit in it. I want to try to fit some xcon 15's ported and firing into the cabin sealed off from re trunk but I don't think that is going to be possible. Lol I would like to do them ported. I think 2 15's sealed would probably fit. Or should I just fit 2 12's ported with the same install, trunk sealed. What do you guys think? I have only owned a sealed prefab box, under powered, kicker L7 15's. I want to feel the lows alot better and have it sound better. Probably tune the box to 28 for 15's and 30 for 12's. I just don't want to get 12's and not be satisfied? But I'm…

My girlfriend finally confessed she wants some bass in her ride. So I'm trying to figure out what I want to do as far as her sub. I'm looking for a decent 10".. nothing special. Rated around 300-800 rms. SPL or SQ don't outweigh each other here.. this is more or less just practice for me as far as my box building goes, and adding a little bass to her Saturn Ion. Preferably need a d2 so I can get a final 4 ohm load to bridge. I'll probably just be getting a cheap 2 ohm stable A/B amp to push it.. She doesn't care or have the ear to tell the difference in quality so it doesn't really matter. My budget is no more than ~100-120 after shipping for the sub. I'm open to all i…

My current system is (2) 15" AA SMD (2) SAZ-3500D (4) 7" AA Carbon Fiber (1) SAX 4.100D (4) XS Power D3100 (1) DC Power 320Amp Alt. The power range in the tweeters i'm lookin in is roughly 80-150rms. I am looking into Seas right now, as i was recommended to them by a few people and i've heard Marks and they sound great, but last time i checked.. Marks were sold out. FML. I am considering Super Tweeters also though, because they will get stupid loud. My budget is 100-200 total for tweeters. What i'm looking for is tweeters that will get really loud, so it will have a standing chance with my sub stage. I recently had (2) complete Alpine Type R component sets, REALLY loud b…

Like it says...any thoughts on which is better? I can get either set for the same price for the 6.5" component set. This will be for my Jeep Cherokee system and whatever I get will see 100-150w RMS depending on the amp I get. I listen to pretty much everything but rap and country. I'll have two Sundown Audio SA-8's handling bass duty.

  19. So I need help choosing a subwoofer for my manager's car. He has a 2008 Civic 4dr with 2 JL Audio 12W0 in a vented box running off a JL J2.500 amp. He is selling off the subs and box due to the size, it takes half his trunk space (almost no room for golf clubs). He wants to have similar amount of bass in a smaller package and listens from rock to rap music 50/50 SPL SQ. I need some suggestions on what might be good choices to run off 500RMS @ 2ohms (thats what I have to work with). His current subs (http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/part_number=93261/1451.0.1.1) Here are some of my choices I am looking at so far and am thinking sealed. Also the enclosure bu…

  20. So for the ones who read my previous thread, unfortunately, the guy sold the 2 MMATS and Im left with my single 12 pioneer. I been looking for some time already to replace my sub. I came to the conclusion that Im better off going with 2 12s rather than a single 15 since I will have more cone area. The three options that catch my attention are IB3, X and DCON. Yes, Im on a budget. And that is $300 shipped, no more than that. (as thats was what I was originally gonna spend on the MMATS subwoofers that I was offered). IB3, the problem is that 2 12s would come out $340 + enclosure price. Also, I think IB3s are for home use right? I could probably go for 1 15, the thing is tha…

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I would mainly listen to music and show off but I would like to get into some competions if I could HawkEye

I am in the process of selling all of my audio equipment to start off with something new. I don't change systems like I change clothes, I kept my last setup for about 2 years. The question I currently have is this.... Which setup would have more output potential on the meter... assuming I have the optimal sized box and optimal power for both set ups 1.) 12 Very low strength subs... let's just say 12 inch subs 300 watts a piece 2.) 2-4 Very high motor strength subs... let's just say 4 18 inch subs 3000 watts a piece I've never used a sub that required less than a thousand watts, and have little experience with low power small subs. Thanks!
