I’m looking for a bit of knowledge from the bright minds on the forum which is all of you guys since I’m sure you all have a great amount of help you can provide me with. I have an 1998 Chevy Blazer I currently am using two Alpine Type-R twelve’s but want to start building a system leaning toward better SQ. I know the basics about how I want to hook it up but looking forward to some advice on a few components. I am fitting four six and a halves in the doors and two tweeters I am thinking of going from my twelve’s to ten’s for a little better response. From what I see there are a few brands that look good from JL, Focal, Cadence, Seas, Alpine, etc. Now for the subs I w…

I just bought a used Sundown Saz-1500d. For the moment I will be running it at 2 ohms with my dual 4 ohm voice coil DD2510. Within the next two paychecks, I wanna get something that will take the full 1 ohm power of the 1500. I am leaning towards a 15", but a couple of 12"s could be cool also. Just as long as I can wire to 1 ohm and get the full 1500 or so watts. -This is a daily driver, but if I can potentially get loud enough, I would maybe compete in street beat or similar. -budget is a $350 ish (used or new). less would be nice. -before installing the amp, I'm adding a yellow top in the trunk and one run of 1/0 for it. as well as big 3.

Hi, Am interested in replacing 2x 10" sub in a Nuance N-200 box. The box size is 12" x 23" x 15" My primary interest is SQ. I also want deep bass. I have no idea if the dabers would sound good in the box below. Thanks in advance Here's the underside of the box...

  4. Hi all.Im wanting to replace my 2 type r 15's with 1 18 or maybe 2 different 15's.I would like to just have 1 18 so I was wondering what would be a good 18 to replace my 2 15's?Right now I have a clarion CZ 200 head unit, and a Autotek 1500 Street Machine amp.My car is a 1977 oldsmobile Delta 88 and my subs are in the trunk and thats where the 18 would go also.I was thinking about the FI BL 18" sub.Im not real familar with any other brands so any suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks. EDIT: Forgot to mention I would like the single 18 to be louder than the 2 15's

  5. So I have read around a little and I have talked about it before, I need a mid-bass/woofer that can do 50hz-100hz/120hz just as loud and viscous as my 15" xcon can hit 30-50hz. I have run across the Aurasound NS10-513-4A 10" which seams like it may work, but I want more opinions. It can be of any wattage, it needs to be 10" or smaller I'd prefer a 8" but i'll do 10" if it is what it will take to hit those db's, and the enclosure whether it is ported or sealed needs to be less than 1 cu ft. I want great punch, I want to feel the drums in my chest, my old sub (kove armageddon) could hit these notes at around 135db and i miss the feeling of it.

So over the last 2 years I pre-planned my van build making it clear that I don't want 30Hz-60Hz. That I must have as much 30Hz on down output as possible, but 60Hz on up would be nice as well. With only 1 HO alt, I was able to sort of get by by having my subs LPed at 31.5Hz. Less information to re-create, more power for the narrower band... and that narrower band is very high excursion (low frequency) for more cone motion to keep things cool with a clipped signal. Well I'll be getting 2 more HO alts, so I can bring the LP up to 100Hz where it should be, as I finally moved my 6.5's HP up to 100Hz. But my excursion problem, as predicted, is 25Hz-45Hz, and I want to take …

When I originally heard the IB3 18's Xmech was "shortly after its 30mm Xmax" I assumed maybe it was 31mm-33mm. So when I heard the IB3 22 was going to have a 38mm Xmax and 96% of the Vd of two IB3 18's, I thought the 22" was going to have a lot more Mechanical clearance than the 18's. But the 22's are going to have the same profile surrounds as the 18's, so the same or similar 41mm - 42mm Xmech. I'm not going to be able to replace my 18's with the 22's. At 8 ohms I already have to be careful to avoid over excursion. I planned on running 8 ohms for the 18's for safety, but 4 ohms for the 22's. The 22" isn't going to work. I'm probably going to have to order a 2nd pair of 1…

I just noticed the new Pioneer Stage 4 line on the Crutchfield website and they are very expensive for anything pioneer that i have seen. I have a Pioneer Premier headunit (cant remember exact model) and i love it, it has all the features i could ask for so that is so different about this new HU and the new speakers? According to pioneers website they are an audiophile grade set. does anyone have any experience with them and know if they are worth the money?

Hi guys. I currently am running a single Alpine SWX-1242D with a pdx 1.1000 in a 2.25 - 2.5 cubic foot enclosure in the back of my Hummer. I csn't remember what it is tuned to, as I got the design off of a forum a couple years ago. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get the ouput I want. I am not sure why, but there just doesn't seem to be enough bass. My input source is a Mac mini running to an Alpine PXE 650 with the Ant EQ, which has 4 volt pre outs. I also run a stock batt, with a yellow top optima in the back. Stock alternator and all power And grounds are 0 gauge welding cable. So since I can't firgure out the problem other than the box may not be right, …

Hey, i've been looking for days on the internet but there are just too many subs to choose from. I asked about what subwoofer would be best for me on another forum but lets say they werent very helpfull. So im looking for a single or 2 subwoofers (dont know what's best yet) for in my car. I got a kind of low budget but i just want to get some nice bass. It is for daily use btw, if it matters. I live in The Netherlands, so im not sure if all subwoofers can be shipped to here. So, what i found yet: http://www.pimtensen.nl/shop_details.php?grp_id=6&sub_id=18&cur_id=7117 (Is it any good because it costs only $66??) Or something like this: http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/pr…

I currently have 2 Kicker Comps 10" (lol, I know) running at 150 RMS each in a sealed enclosure. I have a Fi BL 12" on the way that will be powered by a Sundown SAE 1200d in a ported enclosure. Just curious as to how much of a difference there should be? Should be a lot, hopefully. I realize there is a lot of variables that involve this. But just ballpark it.

So i had 2 l7 12s under my back seat... it was weak... so i took the backseat out and i told my buddy brian to build me a box (brian owns and manages evolutiuons car audio Lone Grove, OK) but anyways, i was expecting a huge box, instead he said 2 ported boxes at 3.3 cub would create the loudest setup at all possibilities. ill be pushing the l7s with a kicker 1500.1 zx. how loud am i looking? as far as DB wise... and was his plan correct??

  17. Hello all...my 1st post here... Just wanted to share some excitment in my audio world... I have had a little mishap with my 15 year old SUB. Orion 12D. She no longer works... So I have ordered a ICON 12" form Marc a SSA (what a great guy!!!) He suggested I go with an ICON as I wanted an XCON. I trust his opinion totally so I ordered it. Here's what my setup looks like: ... This of course is my car... The trunk liner removed The spare and accessories now gone... The preparation of the 1" wood flooring The box finished... How it fits in the trunk The amp and carpet installed in the back The sub box installed with the side pieces installed on a hinge so I can fold the…

would i be better off gettin 8 AUDIOPIPE TSAR10 10"s on one ap3000.1 at 2 ohms or should i get one aq hdc3 18-a on 2 ap3000.1s the ap3000.1s are rated for 2 ohm stable but i used to run one on .6 ohms daly on a solo x 18 so im sure it would be fine at a little over 1 ohm the audiopipes would be sealed and the 18 would be in a custom built aero port box.. which setup would be better for spl at the headrest thanks in advance

Is it possible to easily mod the SSA DCON 12 to have a higher resonance frequency, say 39Hz? I know some subs appear to allow this by simple dust cap replacement (replace the stock dust cap with a lighter one).

I see a lot of sub comparisons but I haven't seen this one. Which would you choose for a pure sound quality setup. 1 Treo SSp 10 in a 1.3 cu. ft ported enclosure 34hrtz. 2 Fi SSD 10in. in a 1.85 cu. ft ported enclosure tuned to 35hrtz. 1 FI BL 10in in a 1.3 cu. ft ported enclosure tuned to 34 hrtz. 2 Fi Q 10in in a 1.85 cu. ft ported enclosure tuned to 35 hrtz. The Treo I know will fit but I am not sure about the FI Q or BL because the motor is so wide so I am asking about all of the ones I am considering. These will be going under the rear seat of my 2010 dodge ram crew cab.
