Hey Everyone. I bought these 8 Inch Peerless SLS speakers a year ago to put in my Neon. I bought them because I was told if I could fit an 8 inch woofer in my door, there was absolutely no reason to go with a 6.5 inch woofer. Well I recently bought a used 2005 Subaru Forester and I can’t figure out any way at all to install my 8 inch Peerless woofers. My question is, would I really loose a lot of the punchy bass that I love if I go down to a 6.5 inch woofer in my doors? My doors will be sealed and deadened. I have 4 inch peerless midranges and seas tweeters that I’m hoping to install in some custom kickpanels. They’ll be running off an alpine H701 for a 3way active w…

Hi ! Yesterday I received my 12" FI BTL N2. First thing first : the box was really heavy. They saiys Neodym would make the sub lighter, but I think it's heavier than a 15" Xcon !!! (I may be wrong, but it's 20 Kg). This sub seems small to me. I've been running only 15" subs for years now : S15 L7 kicker (in my car for now), Impact car audio 67 series, SSA Icon, SSA, Xcon. Maybe that's why I found this 12" so small !!!! Small and heavy ! I could not take pics because my new phone (BB curve 9300) doesn't have any light/flash for night pics. I was surprised to see how this thing looks like it was made by ...hands and not by machines on an automatic assembly line! You can see…

Ok, currently i have a set of Focal 165 3-way components in my yukon and i think they sound great! I know some say that they are harsh, and at first i agree, but after a little eq'ing i got them sounding great imho. I am doing an install for a friend in his Voltswagon gti (nice car:)) and am trying to choose a good (under $350) 3-way component set for him. I am considering the precision power PC.3.65. I will buy an amp according to the speakers i choose. I would recommend my focal set but they might be a little "harsh" in his small car. Those aluminum tweeters in the focals are sharp haha! Anyway, i would just like ya'lls opinion on good 3-way components. they need to hav…

I got this off of caraudio.com and I couldn't find anything close to all this news on the "official" SI site. I understand this may not even be the chosen driver, but this IS the driver I want, specifically the Shollower mounting depth (by a full inch!) and secondly but not as important - smaller, more specific enclosure requirements. If this ends up being the new Mag, it means I'll be getting this to stick in my Rav4, which my current Mag was supposed to go into be can't because of mounting depth issues. This also means I gotta say sorry to Fi and Soundsplinter because I think I'll stick with the Mag. Saying that though, This needs to be quoted: BTW, here's the car…

My old Death Row has been sitting around for a while not doing anything. I decided to give it to my brother and was wondering what the downsides would be to trying to run the Death Row in a Sealed Box? I know it is recommended ported, but the proper room just isn't there. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

well, haven't been around for a bit so I'd thought i'd drop by and say hello. Been busy with my new job cause working in a car audio place sucks....only the owner makes the money. But just to let you on some new products, CDT has offered the 2in driver in the HD line. Uses a different coating on the cone than the ES. ES is more a delicate driver than the HD one. Its a little beast though. little over an 1in deep, should be fun in the car though. Careful on the crossover points though, from the little use I've used in a temp pod I think I like it at 1k hz and up. I'll be using it as my main tweeter with the drt-26 as my image one. I'll try and get pics up here as …

So tonight I installed some under-the-dash neons for a friend of mine who will be getting a Mag 12 with two of Sundown Audio's amplifiers and Boston comp's up front. Anyway, sorry for not hosting these but get on IE or shut up. PS: I know I'm a lazy bastage when it comes to hosting pics so everyone can see them but ... I've got too much other chite to worry about. PPS: Yes, beer was a part of the install. Becks and St. Pauli's to be exact.

Looking at changing a grand prix from a 15" L7 to two 9510-4's. The amp is a kicker 1000.1. The kicker L7 is ported and in a box I guessed to be 3cf. It is under the rear deck and does not come behind it at all. Using kickers rec. tuning I modeled it and the 2 9500's. I found that the L7 is louder but doesn't go as low. If I increase the power to the MTX's they can get just as loud . Does anyone have a thought about this? Are the 9500s a upgrade over an L7? I have never heard a L7 but will hear this install on Friday. I'm just trying to get a better idea what to expect.

I've been set on trying to get a AE AV-12x, but they are so far behind that, I don't think I'll be able to get one anytime soon. Does anyone have any suggestions for a sub that works best in a small, sealed enclosure. i don't have an amp yet, so power isn't of concern, and I'm looking for something with great SQ, but I do like to crank it up once in a while. thanks for any input.

I have a JBL gto 1200.1 II amp that puts out about 1100 watts at 2 ohms. Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s in 1.2 cubes each and they sound ok but I would like a louder setup that'll have good sq. I'm considering a different pair of 12s sealed or a single 12 ported. I've always ran sealed setups with 12s and I'm thinking of trying a pair of ported 10s. Can a pair of ported 10s get louder than and have good sq like a pair of sealed 12s? Right now I have 2 Orion HP 12s sealed.
