I have some peerless sls 10's I wanted to use for midbass in my next three way set up. But there is no way they are going into the doors of my car like I wanted. If I had power windows it would be no problem because the shaft for the window handle would not be in my way. So, instead I came up with an Idea to do some large kick pods that open up into a shallow false floor up front. Which brings us to my question????? Has anyone else heard of and or done something this drastic to get the proper air space for their speakers up front??? If so...Is it even worth it?? Thanks in advanced

  5. Alright so I'll give you guys some backround information. I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. 180 amp singer alt and xs d5100r under the hood, and 2 xs xp3000's in the hatch. 2 soundqubed 2200s strapped @ 2 ohms (each seeing 1 ohm) pushing 2 hdc315's in a 10 ish cu ft box tuned to 32hz. I don't k now how much port area there is, but it's a lot. These things get low. Sometimes I wish I tuned a little higher, but that's a whole other topic. I haven't played many test tones but on music I've been metered at 153.8 and as high as 149.9 @ 29hz. My mids and high keep up with the bass, but they're missing that "wow" factor. People that don't know anything about car audio will be blown…

I have seriously been thinking about doing a DIY comp set and I remember looking at these a while ago. Since you guys have infinite more knowledge than me , can you point me in the right direction as far as a good matching tweeter for it? Planning on going active with a Sundown 100.4, but im not sure what tweeter to match with it. I saw the review of it months ago on here and it looked solid for my needs, just wanted a few opinions. The tweeters I have heard before include the mainstream stuff (Infinity Reference, Pioneer, Kenwood, Polk Audio, Kicker, etc...) Im not looking for SPL, more like SQ but with good output, (have to be able to keep up with a pair of 15s Porte…

I am running a Pioneer DEH P7200hd and two Diamond Audio D1 6.5 components in my 2002 GMC Sierra. I want to run two 10"subs in a fitted down firing box under the rear seat(extended cab). I'm planning on using a Sundown SAZ1000D at 2ohms. The box I would like to use is only .77cu ft., which subs do you think would perform better in that limited airspace; 2 Incriminater Audio 10" 187series or 2 SSA 10"DCON or 2 Resonant Engineering 10" SRx or 2 Diamond Audio 10"D1 ????? Please help, thank you. p.s. any other suggestions would also be helpful, but I'd like to stay away from mainstream brands if possible

Okay, I am a SQ person, so I'm not necessarily hip on loudness. SO, my buddy calls me up today and he wants me to look for something LOUD. Three 12s or Two 15s at least. Will be run by a pair of JL 1000/1s. First off, he gave me a budget of $450 for drivers. I need something that will fit in about 10 cubes, no more. THis is of course net displacement. He care nothing of sound guality. He just wants to get loud. Street beating, no fart cannons please. So I leave it in the hands of you, those who like it cranked. Don't let me down! His previous install was two 12W6v2s and they got pretty loud, but not enough for him.

  14. Hello! I have a 2000 Camaro with a thunderform 10" sub box (http://thunderforms...._2002/show.html). I was about to get some crappy pioneers but then I came across SSA and am considering the DCON, Skar VVX, maybe a GCON, or something one of you might recommend. My concern is that because the box is so limited (.6 ft3 sealed) if these subs will still sound any good, because I understand that they are engineered to be tuned and be in the right box. I'd be getting a new amp to btw, i'm thinking the Audiopipe APSM-1500. Let me know if you recommend a sub or if you think one of these wouldn't be a good choice for me. Any feedback would really help!

So I will be in the market for new sub woofers and I need some help narrowing/making a choice. They will be 2 12's What I'm looking for out of the sub is some thing that will play nicely with the front stage, which will consist of Mach 5 mli65's in the doors and seas 27TFNN's in the pillars being ran active by an 880prs. I'm sure 2 12's will have more then enough output for me so that is not being considered. The subs will start out their life in a sealed enclosure but I would like them to be versatile enough to experiment with different enclosures. Power available is 1400 ~ 1600 @1ohm and I have no idea at other impedances its a sundown Audio prototype. Price ran…

I am getting back into audio after a long layoff. I wanted to know what you guys thought would be the best speaker setup for mid and highs. I am planing on buying the new Zed Audio 6ch 150w a ch when it's released. I have been thinking of such brands as morel, focal, dbl, and polk. Price does matter would like to keep it under 1000. 22. Hi all, I blew my old POS Kenwood after 3.5 years of beating the crap out of it, so its time for a new sub. My amp is a eD Nine.2 giving 400x1 @4 ohms or 200x2 @2 ohms. I need help choosing a new woofer that will work for my set up. I will be building a new box so ported vs sealed does not matter. Price is up to $250 for the sub. I would like to focus on SQ, but would like a lil SPL. I listen to hip hip/rap music so I need some deep bass fill to keep me happy. So far I am looking at the Image Dynamics IDQ, the Diamond Audio D3 and also the Sound Splinter RL-i. What are your thoughts on these subs? Are the others that you would recommend? Thanks in advance for any h…

  23. Started by gearstix,

I have been trying to wire up my subs. I have two Mach 5 Audio SPL12s hooked to a Audiopipe AP3000.1D. I am using 8 gauge wire to go from the amp to the subs. However I cannot get the wire to stay in these terminals. I put one 8 gauge wire in and tightened them all the way up and the wire still didn't really stay in there. So what I came up with is this: I took the nut off where the tinsel lead goes to the terminal, then put a length of 8 gauge with a ring connector on it. Will this cause any problems? I don't have both subs done yet, so it is not hard to revert. I find these terminals a pain in the ass! its sort of like what DD has done with their subs.

I guess I don't know much about this subject. I did a quick search on here and didn't find all the info I was looking for on the questions that I've had lately. To my understanding, it's just the natural frequency of the sub. I'd like to know a little more than that. Recently I saw a topic where some 8's with ~38hz FS were for sale and someone described them to play really low on music, how nice they are for music, on and on. I didn't know if these subs were meant to play lower than 38 hz or if those people just called +38hz 'low'. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the FS is 1 frequency and not including the + and - frequencies (to some small extent) meaning that the sub can p…
