About 6 months ago we had I decided to start working with a new chemical formulation company to increase the performance and the value of damplifier and damplifier Pro. After we analyzed everything, we found a few key spots to work on. With Performance in mind, we wanted to get better results with less material and less work for our customers. Less material usually mean less performance though; Thinner foil = less vibration damping. Thinner butyl = less vibration damping. Sure, the cost goes down but with such a large reduction in performance, we hardly though it was worth it, which is why we dropped damplifier Lite from our menu. Even though damplifier Lite performed b…

I got Damplifier Lite for my car as I did not want to spend too much money on sound proofin. I spent too much already for speakers and boxes and cables etc. and it was eather damplifier Lite for me or no product at all. So I ordered from SS and got it pretty fast. So I used it for the first time, it was perfect, not trouble taking the paper off or any problem whatsoever. I did 1 layer on each of the 3 sides of the door, I will follow with Overkill on the door panel once I put the speakers in. I did a quick video to compare the damplified door to just prepped door. Both my doors had some small tiles on the door from factory but they did not do much. The difference is amazi…

Over the years we have a had a lot of street rod and race car customer come to us looking for a product that could withstand the high temperatures on the engine side of the firewall. Some cars reach levels of 1000 degrees f. and for this application, we had no product to offer them. Now we are about 8 weeks out from releasing our newest thermal insulation mat. This new material is a multi layer composite that can withstand temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees when as little as 2 inches of air space is provided between the heat source and the product. At ¼ inch thick and weighing in at .25 lbs per sq foot this is going to be our best thermal insulation material yet. The …

First off, i have a 86 ext cab s15 pickup truck and the equipment is in my sig. I hear matting them is bad because of the natural cabbin flex these trucks need to sound at best when dealing with SPL. Then.. i heard people gain from them with matting(for spl). I've pretty much heard A LOT of things... only mat the floor.. only mat the side pannels.. etc etc etc. So can someone clear this up for me? Im looking to gain some dBs while still having the natural effect of matting (music inside, noise outside)

I am getting ready to built my next system and want to know what people think about deadening a sealed trunk? This is in a 99 Honda Acoord(Think pop can)and I will be forward firing my Fi BTL 15" and sealing the trunk off. I will be doing Second Skin Damplifer floor, doors(inner and outer), pillars, back deck and ceiling. I will probly also be doing Luxury liner Pro(luxury liner min.). I am getting ready to built the box inside the trunk. I had planed on a single layer of Damplifer inside the trunk for good measure before building the box as I won't be able to take it back out. I already have the Damplifer and will probly do a single layer just to know my trunk isn't ratt…

Just wondering how many sq ft there are in the pack. The website says 20sq ft. However, I just got mine today and it had a sticker on it saying 36sq ft. That sticker was covering an original 28 sq ft label. So how much dampening do you actually get in one of these packs? I haven't measured it myself due to the extreme laziness. Was hoping someone could chime in.

Well first i gotta thank Ant and everyone at secondskin for giving me this opportunity to install this top of the line product! Personally i have had experience with just regular damplifier on my friends trailblazer, stuff worked wonders and fixed the annoying rattle he had in his roof. Now on to my damplifer pro, first time i put it in was on the roof and on the floor of my trunk, just by doing that it got rid of ALOT of road noise and my roof is solid as a rock now. Then tonight i had the time to install the rest, and decided to do my doors, took awhile but man was it worth it. Immediately after putting everything back together i noticed how much better my door speaker'…

Upon opening the Damp Pro box first thing I noticed was the nice wood roller and sample of the old Damp Pro. As I picked up the sample, first thing I noticed is how much thicker, stiffer, and stronger if felt compared to my Stinger Road Kill Pro. I was very impresses with the Damp Pro already and I hadn't even pulled out the new stuff yet. As I start taking the deadener out of the box, I noticed how a whole sheet 20"x12" can support it self without much help at all. I pulled out all 8 sheets and was very happy with the amount of deadener I had received. It was night so I had to wait till today to install it, it was pretty hard to sleep to be honest. Once I got started I…

You have all waited long enough! Now, Damplifier Pro comes with a annodized black foil, rather than a silver foil. We also increased the thickness of the foil from 6 mils to 6.5 mils for added strength, and better vibration damping! We will be updating the pics on the website in the next couple of days, but I can tell you right now, this stuff looks amazing, and performs even better! Check out the product on our site: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/vibration-mat/damplifier-pro.php Or get in on the conversation on our forum: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6046 ANT

We have been developing a new product for SPL competitors and bass heads that is going to be unlike anything the industry as seen. Basically it is a beefed up version of or spectrum coating, but along with it, we are going to include a couple pounds of our rubber tire strands. These are little bits of rubber that are made from recycled tires. The strands are very small but super strong. According to my rubber vendor, when these strands are added to acrylic coatings the network of interwoven strands that is created will increase both elongation and tensile strength of the material by almost 500%. I think we are going to call it SPL Sludge but really, it will help with SQ a…

I have been eyeing secondskin for about 3-4 years now i think and just never got around to using it. I got a 2008 altima 4 door with the 2.5 and well, weight is an issue for me overall. The car is amazing at hauling heavy loads up hill but im just worried about responsiveness. I plan to put in some Rainbow SLC 6.5 NG's and i want to kinda beef up the door a bit. I was looking at the Damp lite and was figuring that with its cost and realtive weight to square foot that this would be the product for me. Im not doing any SPL comps, just looking to increase the sound quality of my audio system while reducing door vibration. I am also trying to be cost concious with whate…

So this is what you get when you combine Second Skins new top of the line vibration dampener and a lil bit of rattle from the rear bumper.... Just when you thought my car couldnt get heavier LOL ~8.5 sheets of SPL Plate adding ~2.5 sheets of damp pro The rattle would completely go away if the tabs holding the bumper on top are pressed hard as hell so i probably could have just put a strip of overkill and been fine but thats no fun, I do plan on doing the over kill too just in case but that will have to be tomorrow.
