Alright guys, its been a while since I've posted on here but I find it hard to find time too lately. I really dont know where to start so I'll start off with my goal...I would like to drop some weight from the 190lb im at now maybe to like 160lb. I really dont have a problem working out as I love too when I can but could use any workouts that you guys like for your core and maybe some kind of cardio thats nt exactly running on a treadmill that would be cool too cuz I HATE CARDIO but really need to start on doing it a lot more. The main thing that really makes me mad at myself is eating right. I'll do good the whole day, workout and then kind off binge on tons of stuff …

Im sure most of you know that your leg press is alot higher than your squat. Doing some physics work we can calculate it all out. As we know at an angle weight is decreased. So if that sled is at a 45deg angle and we know that the sin of things are vertical. We can say the the x weight times the sin(45) is what you would have if it were at a 90 aka vertical. ..(sin(90)=1 So x * sin(45)= x*.707 so say you can leg press 500 500*.707=354lbs ....................... But if you do the numbers im sure you can tell that this method is unreliable and you wold find yourself crushed on the squat machine if you tried to attempt it. Another method i found on the net was to just divi…

So after reading Dem Beats - Health Check, I am inspired to do something similar. I have been looking for a way to write down my journey, and there is no better place than SSA! I've actually done this before here. I had results overall but was also starving for information and learning along the way. It's 2 years down the road now and I have learned a lot of information, so this time I'm going to try and track my progress near daily and help keep my thoughts in check. Start.... Current Weight - 208.5 (as of right now) *note* I am using my home scale... it is wrong (reads low) but its the best I got so I'm rolling with it ** I started this summer at 215 with the goal of 1…

OK, so here is where I am at. I have been working out pretty steadily for 20 years, I never go more than a week or so off. I lift 3-5 days a week and cardio 3-4 times a week. I either run 4-5 miles or do something like an eliptical for an hour. I'm 6'3 and about 215 pounds, give or take, so not too much fat. My body is still in OK shape for pushing 40. I have normal aches and pains but nothing I can't get through. I don't take any medication at all, and the only supplement I use on and off is Creatine. I drink 1/2 - 1 gallon of water almost every day. I want to start pushing more endurance. I am deploying next week and one of my goals is to be able to run (jog)…

Howdy all, I wanted to take some time to share my fitness goals. I have been through many times in the past where I wanted to do this or that. Sometimes I wanted to be really strong and body build, other times I wanted to run a lot and be lean. This time I have a compromise of the two extremes. My goal, being general, is to be able to compete (with my friends) on a high level athletically. This will include sports such as softball, ultimate, running, cycling, swimming with softball really being my biggest focus. I love baseball but can't compete at the level that is available to me and softball I can play with more people and have a lot of fun. Also, as with almost anyone…

So I've decided to get back into the gym after awhile. I started using the JEFit app on my ipod/Note 2, it's a great app that has tons of submitted workout profiles, you can also make your own, it tracks your progress, suggests where you should be hitting after X weight. It's pretty awesome. Also it syncs your data to their website so whether you use your ipod one day or your android device another day it'll all be up to date. I work out 5 days a week which usually looks like Mon: Chest & Tricepts Tue: legs and Abs Wed: Back And Abs Thu: Biceps and shoulders Fri: Run day Sat: rest Sun Rest. So monday: Bench Press 5 sets of 6x125 lbs Incline bench 3 sets 8x95lbs D…

  9. So as some of you know, i was diagnosed with "terminal" colon cancer in July of 09. I was told i would not see Christmas of 09, but here I am cancer free. I have always been a lifter, of the old school caliber. Eat a ton of peanut butter after a workout, ingest carbs for quick recovery and energy, lift heavy to failure after 3-6 reps 3-4 sets., 3-4 day break. But when I got sick i dropped from 6'1" 230 to 168#. They had me gain to 200#s with a very high protein diet. But I was flabby, and unhappy. I was finally released to work out, with limited core work because of all my surgeries and fears of tearing my abdominal wall and causing a hernia. I had 24 staples from my dick…

  10. Hey all, I started off back in February about 173lbs, a little beer gut and not a bit of muscle on my body... a friend from work is training me and got me involved in weight training. It's been three months, training 4x a week and completely changing my eating habits I've lost about 15lbs of pure fat, but my main goal is to gain a lot of lean muscle mass. I haven't been doing much cardio or abs so I need to pick up on those two things... tell me what you think of my progress so far 2/23/09, First week in the gym 173lbs 5/9/09, 160lbs

Alright, starting Tuesday I will be starting a 3 month workout program at school. With that I want to achieve maximum results by putting myself on a good diet. I guess I should start by stating my goals. I am 6'2" tall weighing in currently at 215 lbs. I'm really looking to get down to an ideal weight of 190-195 lbs. I don't plan to lose all that weight in 3 months. If it takes longer that is fine as I am hoping to continue with my own workout program come this summer, it is just a total goal in site. Most my spare weight comes in my belly (80%). In this 3 month period I'm also looking to gain some muscle mostly in my upper body region. I have a broad shoulder build and n…

With the new year i know the gym is about to be packed with a slew of people trying to get back into the gym. Its a good thing, but the key is to stay motivated and not lose track of your goals. I've far surpassed my expectations in the gym and find it hard to focus these days and wonder what is the point. But i still drag myself in after an 8hr day and find friends ive met along the way to boost me through whatever i may be doing that day. So for all the rejuvenated gym goers heres a list of things that may help you stay on track. 1.Friends or network of people you frequent at the gym 2.Music 3.Some sort of tracking -if you run i would suggest the Iphone nike+ app(Music …

The Long and Short of It: I've always had big arms (biceps, triceps, forearms) because of all the sports and moving furniture and whatnot. I've also got a gigantic head and a barrel chest. I haven't been measured for dress clothes in a while but I plan on getting remeasured over the weekend so I can get quantifiable numbers. Last I checked I was at 42L jacket with like a 7 1/2 hat. I also have almost no bulk or definition in my neck/shoulders/upper back region Basically I want to bulk up the shoulders/traps/upper back area so I'm not walking around like a humanoid T-Rex...thing... so if y'all got any links to detailed neck and shoulder routines I would appreciate it. 17. November of 2012 I was fed up with my inactive lifestyle. I was drinking a case of beer a week and over eating at every meal. I decided I was going to start to run again as well as do mild weight training and put more thought into my diet. I also registered for a Warrior Dash that was in August 2013. This would help motivate me to make a change. My goal was to be able to run this in a decent time. A few weeks into my running and my knees were in constant pain. A soreness that bothered me all day every day. February 2013 I was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease in my knees. I supplemented my diet with Fish Oils and Glucosamine Chondroitin. After a couple months thes…

so i have been working out for the past 2 months, 3 days a week, for about an hour. sometimes i switch up my routine, but for the most part i will do 30 minutes of cardio, and 30 minutes of weights. i have tried running on the treadmill and on the track and i still get shin splints. i do calf raises everyday as well. i am 5'6" 230 lbs, so im definitely overweight, so i know that has something to do with it, but also, i would think it would improve at least a little bit by now. is there anything i can do to prevent these shin splints from running? i have tried to get on a diet, and i have cut back on my portions and i try to have a small healthy snack every few hours, r…

been shopping for an upright bike to have at home and just do home workouts from now on. i got some resistance bands and i actually like them a lot, they do a great job. I plan on buying more stuff but its a work in progress on my budget. Anyway, i need to buy a bike for now, I need some cardio, and running just isn't for me. I've got about $300 to spend, but it would be great if i could keep it lower than that. Im looking at a few bikes, between the $200 and $300 range and I was wondering if there were any recommendations. I want a quality product, but i have read some reviews on each bike and no matter what the price, they all seem to be about equal. Here they are:…

  22. This is the first video of my new vlog series. My wife was just diagnosed with cardio myopathy. Basically, I am starting to a vlog as a motivational tool for myself to get healthy and get her healthy. We are both overweight and she is a little over 6 months pregnant. I will be doing weekly(if not more frequently) videos to document my progress with diet and exercise, as well as other health issue share how she and the baby are doing. This first video just gives a little insight and backstory and annouces what I will be doing. As soon as my son is born, my wife plans on joining me in exercise(once cleared from cardiologist). As the title states, I was just wondering how you all stay motivated when it comes to working out? I enjoy exercising, but it just seems like life gets in the way too often and I can't keep my motivation up and stick with a routine. As of now I haven't done a workout for probably two months. Don't get me wrong, I don't just sit around on my ass all day. I have a very physically demanding job, and I'm the one that does the majority of the housework (because I'm anal about how it's done ). I've had back problems for the last 11 or 12 years and gave up on weights several years ago, as I kept hurting myself. I turned to kettlebells and bodyweight, and a neurologist tha…

The forums at bodybuilding.com seem to think it's gimmicky too. Just curious about anyone's thoughts on this stuff, or if anyone has had the opportunity to try it.
