I have been ask a few very common questions, so I figured I would just post some of them up. If you have any questions post them up. I will answer them or find the answer for you. CCA is the maximum amperes that can be continuously removed from a battery for 30 seconds at 0°F before its voltage drops to unusable levels. A 550 CCA battery can supply 550 amperes for 30 seconds at 0°F. This was important back in the days when vehicles took a long time to start. Now if you put a charge to your starter for 30 seconds it would probably burn up, and it doesn't make any difference in car audio. CCA is the same test as above but at 32°F. AMP-HOUR RATING is a unit of measurement fo…

  2. Well if you are choosing a secondary battery, then your options are only limited by space you have available and $$$$$. lol Here is a guide for our batteries and the wattage they produce as both starting batteries and secondary batteries. One thing to keep in mind is that when you combined multiple batteries together they produce more individual power, because that optimizes the internal pressure.

  4. All of the S version of the batteries come with brass automotive terminals. All of the S versions also come with metal protective cases (EXCEPT FOR THE S3400) for added under the hood protection. The S3400 DOES NOT come with a metal protective case. The D version batteries do not come with auto terminals, but they do come with the bolts and washer to use with ring terminals. Automotive terminals can be purchased separately (part number # 580 or 586) for these versions. So, if you are going to use the battery under the hood I would suggest buying the S version, but if you are going to use it as a secondary battery the D version would be more economical.

It will be roughly 6 weeks till I graduate and if I can't find a job, I will be keeping my car for a bit. I would like to replace the huge G31 battery with a better charging system to cut down on the weight. Can Powermaster make one to fit my needs? I really don't know how much longer the stock one is going to last. Thanks!

Hello, One of my friend has a 15' Xcon sub and he is willing to buy a Sundown 3500 D to play it at 2 ohms. He has a JBL px 600.4 at 2 ohms for all his speakers. Everything is (will be) playing on an old Optima yellow and a stock 105 amp alternator. He wants to upgrade his electrical system : he's installing 0 ga power and ground everywhere and he has planned to do the big3. We have a local dealer of XS and Kinetic. He knows that his optima is finally quite dead, so he will replace it. What should he do ? He would like to play his system a little bit with the engine off for demonstration. But this is not a must have ! I am waiting for advices. He will get his car back from…

I'm planning on powering a sundown 2000d off a regular battery up front and a D3100 in back. Don't think my puny little 90Amp stock alt will survive for long with that load so... Let me rephrase lol "makes one" for less than like 600$? I emailed a representative at MechMan and they wanted me to ship out my current alt so they could clone the casing and make me a custom 200 amp one for 599$ because its a one off project?! Any reasonable prices on these things?

The stock battery is classified as a group 45 battery. Which of your batteries is the closest to the stock size? CCA's is 600 amps.

Hey guys I just saw the price sheet for 2011 and there is going to be a price increase due to lead prices being on the rise for the past year or so. Now would be a great time to get your batteries before the increase. Check out the SSA store now to take advantage of the 2010 prices.

Ok, what's with the reverse polarity deal here? What is the benefit? I'm guessing I would have to wire the 5100r different from the 5100 when running it as a second battery? So the black is actually the +, and the red is actually - ? Is the point in this so you can wire it in series?
