Quentin I was wondering if the run of ethos that are coming in October will have any changes compared to the previous Ethos. I know you had talked about and showed pics of the new surrounds, will those be used on the ones built in October. Is there any other planned changes, Also what is the cost for dual leads instead of single leads? Thanks in advance for the info.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but mine still look brand new. I've seen a few guys complain about the leads. I still have the original cones. Even after multiple multiple multiple 160+ burps. I've yet to find a problem. Maybe I know when to turn the volume down, maybe because my amps are set clean, maybe I don't have enough power. It's funny though because after hearing about these issues others were having, I got scared and ordered a spare recone. Still new in the box. Thanks Quentin.

Just needed to show a few pics of some recent recones that were done on the Ethos. I'll let Quentin give any details if he chooses to, but I put a slight personal touch to them and feel that I'm pretty good at laying down a bead of glue here or there. Plus, I needed a reason to take pics with this LG G3. It has friggin laser aiming.

  5. so I have a ford f150 single cab.. I have nothing for room.. I had to sundown sa 10's in it and it just wasnt enough for me.. So I ordered the 12's DSS Ethos I really want a car so my friend is gonna trade me his 1994 buick roadmaster it had only 120,000 miles and it already has all the wires ran I need for this new setup and he has 2 10's beyma loudspeakers with a old skool autotek amp from the early 90's.. So thats pretty sweet.. Anyways the car is huge.. So I will have more then enough room for what im getting... so I think it would be a great idea to get the DSS Ethos 15's instead of the 12's I ordered... What do u guys think? Should I go with the 15's.. Hopfully I …

Pulled one sub out to use it to test some amplifiers and one of the terminals read 6.2ohms.. So, measured the lead, 1.56ohms. Measured right under the heatshrink where it goes to the terminal, still 1.56ohms. So, i started pushing up and down on the terminal spring and it dropped to 3.0ohms. Did it some more, 2.1ohms. Did it some more, 1.7ohms. Will not go any lower than that. What could be causing this? It will be a while before i have time to test the rest but i may have to tie the main supply wire to the terminal and to the lead after cutting off heat shrink to ensure i get lowest impedance possible.

  7. I am curious if all parts to build a complete 18" sub can be purchased through you, including motors? I was thinking it could help me with my over all build wait time. I've seen the thread with near everything short of the motor on 12's & 15's. Thanks Q, looking forward to 4-18's in my rebuild

I have a 98 mustang with a trunk wall not yet sealed with two 12" ethos on a bc3500 at 1 ohm with stock 130 amp alt and two batteries. The box is a 3 cu. ft. box net tuned to 28 hz. I hit a max of 140.18 @ 43hz. with the driver door open. First time ever on a meter.

It's time to start working on amps for future availability so I need to figure out what features that need to go into the product so I can have samples developed. The amp part is easy, it just needs to amplify input signal. We are gonna let a DSP do all the hard work. This means NO crossover networks in my amps. Only a knob for gain matching. But the question is what features do we really need in the DSP? NOTE: I HAVE A NDA WITH MY SUPPLIER. I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT DUE TO LEGAL PURPOSES GIVE ANY HINT TO WHAT SUPPLIER WILL BUILD MY DSP. DO NOT ASK So, below are a few features I think it needs. Give your input let me know what else would be necessary or benef…

  18. Hello everyone. I was searching around and ran across the 15" ethos and it has really caught my eye. Looks like a great quality woofer and the fact that it likes small enclosures is awesome. I have been wanting a 15" but couldn't seem to find enough room for one because most seem to like 4 cu ft. Now on to my question. I was reading on the dss site that the recommended enclosure is a 3 cu ft tuned to 32 hz. What threw me off was the suggested port area of 75 in sq. I understand all woofers are different and require a different amount, but this seems like a lot. My question is would I be able to reduce the amount of port area by some without any negative effects on SQ and …

So to start, like my other review, here is my Review. Below, is a picture taken, one of my favorites, from Slamology 2014. I should start off by saying, this should NOT be an review, yes I've named the thread Review, but it should be more of an first impressions. The reason being, I've only had one weekend play time with them. Ok so to start off, my installation consist of 6 15" DSS Ethos powered by 3 Taramp HD8000, at this review 2 Taramps. Back up by 10 batteries and a single H/o Alternator. Again, I must stress that, these subs have never been played. Truck was running at 4pm Friday afternoon, and I was demoing Friday evening at 11pm. Ok, no the First Impressio…

Just took the plunge and placed the ordered for my Ethos 18" dual 2 ohm. I can't give enough praise to Quentin. This man doesn't know me from anyone and has treated me like I was holding cash in front of him in a store. Customer service like this is rare nowadays (I'm a Regional Director for a restaurant company) and I was repeatedly blown away by his willingness to answer questions that I had and quick response time. I really appreciate his tactfulness and I look forward to seeing his business blow up over the next few months/years. Just superb service top to bottom...thanks again Quentin. Now...I eagerly await it's arrival -Josh
