  1. The below are the Large Signal Parameters tested per a klippel analyzer performed by Patrick Turnmire with Redrock Acoustics. For those who do not know what large signal parameters are, they are Thiele Small Parameters of the driver with a large enough signal to excite the cone to normal operating conditions. These are used instead of typical small T/S parameters because they more accurately represent the driver. When the driver is under power at large excursions the parameters can shift a great deal making small signal parameters not an accurate representation of the true nature of the transducer. Later when I get time I will also post small signal parameters to comp…

  8. I've got three xbl motors I'd be willing to let go for $150 plus shipping. They are rated with an xmax of 24.5mm one way, and a BL of 15 with a dual two ohm coil. You can expect to run 500 watts rms thermally on the coils. The motors have an aluminum shorting ring outside the gap. Below is a pic of the BL curves. Disregaurd the compliances, the motors will be coned with beefier coned ans 12 spoked baskets similar to what everyone else uses. I can give calculated T/S parameters using SpeeD (indusrty standard FEA in loudspeaker design) This photo is what the motors look like. One is black, two are nickel finshed.

The doctors said I can't drive for another two weeks and I'm getting a little bored laying in the bed so if you need any help with a box, drawing a sketch-up, a cut list, ect let me know.

  12. Spent a little time today on a possible 10" and 12" driver for the folks with limited mounting depth. Any possibility of building this driver will depend on the cost of manufacturing. It would use a 8 layer alluminum coil. Be around 600 watts rms. And has motor breaking on both the outward and inward stroke. By looking at the model you can see the motor does not have any outter assembly. No outside top plate or magnets. It uses the flux path of the inner neo magnets alone to create the flux gap that the coils rides in. This use of the magnets also creates the motor breaking. This allows me to put the entire motor inside the basket and attach the spider to the bo…

  13. Started by EPerez,

Title should read "How does this "Blow-Thru" type box look? 2 12" Ethos. So I wasn't sure if I just wanted to take my rear seat out and do like a half wall with more cone area or not. I came across this idea though before I would do that. I wanna take out the 40 back part of the seat of the 40/60 seats that fold down and then have a long external port from my box come through there and then lay down a board to block the open area so it's sealed off from the trunk. If you don't understand I have pics below to show what I mean. Would this work good though? It would be like porting through the ski-hole armrest in the back seat, but just a larger opening. The external par…

Went thru many amplifier changes before the build was even complete.Went from a Atomic 5k to a DD M4 to a Tara HD8000. Used my burp box in another vehicle and built a street box for the Etho 15s. Have had minimal playtime with them but the initial results were good. Tight accurate response. Did have a small hiccup that has had a band-aid put on just to get some testing in and show them off at a little local show tomorrow. So far ive done a 148 flat with them sealed on the dash from 44-47hz which is close to my vehicles peak. Have not done any meca style metering yet but in the past thats where it has typically shined. Going to play around with some more enclosures once i …

Since Santa Claus is right around the corner I'm setting up a payment plan for the Ethos. This starts RIGHT NOW and ends midnight January 15, 2014. All you have to do is make sure the full amount is paid up by January 15, 2014. Stipulations are. 1) Your order will NOT ship until the entire invoice is paid IN FULL. 2) You pay at your discretion as long as the installment payment is over $50 3) If you want to cancel no problem, I will refund all funds paid minus 10% of what you have paid. 4) If you have NOT paid the entire invoice in full by midnight central time January 15, 2014 I will automatically refund the funds you have paid minus 10%. 5) whenever you wa…

  22. I will be offering a three year warranty on DSS drivers and I need a way to track them so a sticker with a serial number will be placed in the rebate on the rear of the motors to hide the tool mark from being turned on the lathe. The below logos are what I have been working on (be gentle it's my first time using Corel). Which one do y'all prefer? The blue will be a royal blue and the white will be brushed aluminum.

  23. As the title says I am looking for competitors to do R&D on a large SPL driver. For testing purposes only one driver will be available in either a 12, 15, or 18. This is a very large driver weighing about 105 pounds. Below is a comparison picture of the driver's coil next to a Ethos and FI BTL N3 coil. The coil is 95mm long 3 inch 8 layer dual one ohm coil with an Re of .9 ohms per coil. The coil produces a BL of 51.5 and a motor force factor of 1,484. I am looking for a seasoned competitor with a few years experience preferably someone that has attended nationals a few times. If you are interested send me a PM with your info.

I'm waiting on pricing on the current iteration of a 1,000 watt line with 20mm xmax. The parameters on the sub will be very similar to the Ethos and will use the same exact high quality softparts. Mounting on the 12 inch version will be 5 7/8 inches and due to the motor venting machined at 45 degree angles in the backplate no spacing will be required between the backplate and enclosure for ventilation. As long as pricing is right the below iteration will be available around August.
