This will be the first sub I will be building using the frames that I will tooling. It's an ongoing project and I'll update it as it progresses. I'm calling it "Trident" due to the three top plates as shown in the below density pic. What you are looking at is an assymetrical view of the motor with the pole being on the left and the outside of the magnets to the right. From top to bottom it goes. 1. top plate 2. magnet 3. top plate 4. magnet 5. frame (being the frame is sandwiched into the motor it acts as an effective radiator pulling heat from the gap) 6. top plate 7. magnet 8. bottom plate In all the motor is 270mm wide and 210mm tall This next pic is the B intensit…

I recieved a few sample coils from Precision Econowind to day so I figured I'd post a few photos. These coils are dual one ohm, 4 layer pure flat copper coils. I am expecting to recieve the motor sample in a few weeks. It's been backed up due to the magnet supplier. I also have a custom tooled dust cap being made with DSS (Direct Sound Solutions) engraved into the bottom right side of the cap. If all goes well and the sample is within spec, the production run will be placed as soon as it comes off the Klippel.

I am going to try to put together the drivers I am working on here in this one topic. I'll try to give all the info that I have available including expected t/s parameters, price, ETA, ect. This first one could cater to the SQ crowd. It's designed to work in pretty small sealed and ported enclosures. It will be available in 10, 12, and 15 inch models. Below is the expected 12 inch parameters. Projected specs. 12'' sub Re 2.06 (series) Fo 32.82 Qts .4686 Qes .5022 Qms 7 (estimated) Vas 23.01 liters BL 17.19 T/M xmax 22.5mm one way @ 82% BL or ~27.5mm @ 70% BL Rms 10.29 Mms 346.1g spl 89.8 @2.83 volts 750 watts rms COIL 8 layer flat cop…

I'm in the process of making a users manual for the Ethos line. In the process of gathering all the technical information I tend to leave out the obvious. So help me out by listing everything, no matter how obvious, that you would like to see in the users manual. THANKS

We have been working on a middle line of drivers that will be called the Genisis series for a while now. The will come in 10, 12, and 15 inch sizes. These are xbl drivers and will be assembled in the US with US softparts aside form the spiders which are from an American company but are produced in Mexico with American textiles. All we are waiting on now are the spiders and final testing. We should have a preorder starting within the next month or so for around $175-$200 shipped. We also have a HIGH BL HIGH output line that is still in the design stage, which if it turn out in the real world as it does on paper will be called the Divine series. We all know the Adire B…

Klippel results are in. I was able to get full small signal results. (ones used when building boxes). But was unable to get complete large signal parameters because their 5,000 watts RMS amp couldn't push it to XMECH. I'll have graphs and parameters up tonight.

...after all you are the ones who will be buying them. These frames will be used for subwoofers with an xmax of 30mm or larger and will handle massive motors. One of the motors samples I have coming is pushing 100lbs. They will be Osd (oversized sd) to allow for massive xmax and retain sd. After all what's the point if high excursion 12 if you have the sd of an 8. The below sketches are of what the frames might look like (have to do a few mods for added features. This frame has and OD of 12.5 inches and will allow a surround of 2.75 inches wide and still keep the same amount of sd as typical cones being used on current 12 spoked bakets. It has enough clearance for…

1st motor will be a 3inch four layer flat copper coil with 12mm of xmax 2nd motor will be a 3inch four layer flat copper coil with 20.25mm of xmax 3rd motor is a fairly large motor: top and bottom plates are 260mm OD and 50mm thick magnet is 270mm OD and 50 mm thick the first test coil will be 3inch eight layered flat alluminum coil 100mm long (gives around 35 xmax) my magnetics modeler was dead on compared to Klippel results on the Ethos so I can safely say that this motor will be around 34BL with a 1.75 Re giving a motor force factor of 660 All three of these samples will be coming along with the production run of the Ethos which I expect to be in for tax time. Magnetic…

Been in the hospital from Monday till Thursday due to some complications from complex Migraines and some other stuff they are still looking at. The doctors said I can't drive for another two weeks and I'm getting a little bored laying in the bed so if you need any help with a box, drawing a sketch-up, a cut list, ect let me know.

I've got three xbl motors I'd be willing to let go for $150 plus shipping. They are rated with an xmax of 24.5mm one way, and a BL of 15 with a dual two ohm coil. You can expect to run 500 watts rms thermally on the coils. The motors have an aluminum shorting ring outside the gap. Below is a pic of the BL curves. Disregaurd the compliances, the motors will be coned with beefier coned ans 12 spoked baskets similar to what everyone else uses. I can give calculated T/S parameters using SpeeD (indusrty standard FEA in loudspeaker design) This photo is what the motors look like. One is black, two are nickel finshed.

I didn't have much time to fool with it so I just took some quick pics with the iphone. For size reference, 18 inch basket and 10 inch basket Once I get it together and broke in I have to send it to Arizona to put on a Klippel analyzer to verify parameters and to do AES power rating on it.
