1st motor will be a 3inch four layer flat copper coil with 12mm of xmax 2nd motor will be a 3inch four layer flat copper coil with 20.25mm of xmax 3rd motor is a fairly large motor: top and bottom plates are 260mm OD and 50mm thick magnet is 270mm OD and 50 mm thick the first test coil will be 3inch eight layered flat alluminum coil 100mm long (gives around 35 xmax) my magnetics modeler was dead on compared to Klippel results on the Ethos so I can safely say that this motor will be around 34BL with a 1.75 Re giving a motor force factor of 660 All three of these samples will be coming along with the production run of the Ethos which I expect to be in for tax time. Magnetic…

so I have a ford f150 single cab.. I have nothing for room.. I had to sundown sa 10's in it and it just wasnt enough for me.. So I ordered the 12's DSS Ethos I really want a car so my friend is gonna trade me his 1994 buick roadmaster it had only 120,000 miles and it already has all the wires ran I need for this new setup and he has 2 10's beyma loudspeakers with a old skool autotek amp from the early 90's.. So thats pretty sweet.. Anyways the car is huge.. So I will have more then enough room for what im getting... so I think it would be a great idea to get the DSS Ethos 15's instead of the 12's I ordered... What do u guys think? Should I go with the 15's.. Hopfully I …

This will be the first sub I will be building using the frames that I will tooling. It's an ongoing project and I'll update it as it progresses. I'm calling it "Trident" due to the three top plates as shown in the below density pic. What you are looking at is an assymetrical view of the motor with the pole being on the left and the outside of the magnets to the right. From top to bottom it goes. 1. top plate 2. magnet 3. top plate 4. magnet 5. frame (being the frame is sandwiched into the motor it acts as an effective radiator pulling heat from the gap) 6. top plate 7. magnet 8. bottom plate In all the motor is 270mm wide and 210mm tall This next pic is the B intensit…

Yanked everything out of my trunk and am awaiting recones and baskets to build my 15s to 12s. Cutting down on weight and going back to cap banks, 6 banks of 6 3000F Maxwells. Laid the floor in with 2 cans of foam and fastened it down. Going to wait a few days to see if i have and major buckling from the foam before i proceed with building the rest of it. Will all be built in trunk. Have a ton of Kreg jig tools to get the job done. Will still be running my Tara HD 8000 till and if the HD 10k comes then ill swap them out. Car tends to like a lower peak and it was brought down a tad lower after using another bulk back on my doors. So ill do some MECA with it this coming seas…

I'm getting all of my stuff together to place orders for product to be in for the holidays this year but I am still undecided on which route to go on a 1,000 watt sub line. I have two options that I have priced, one is an MMAG driver and the other is an overhung driver just like the Ethos. Either route taken will end up with basically the same t/s parameters but they are pros to both designs. MMAG Primo pros 1.) Will have smaller coil (power handling still the same) which leads to less moving mass increasing efficiency which in turn will make it a tad louder. 2.) The smaller coil make inductance lower in turn creates less distortion (however would more than likely be…

Some of you may know me from the forums or facebook. Long time bass head and have been into audio for 14 years.I do a little glass work and custom enclosures. I'm about to be in my 4th season of MECA, 2nd year with our own trunk classes(finally). I don't really post build logs as nothing stays the same long enough to be post worthy. But i figured id share a little of the last few years. Sbn 13 was the last show i ran the Maxima at, broke the first Trunk class 150 at 36hz. Was alot left in the build and car in general. Unfortunately it was instantly scrutinized due to the rear seat being non folding, a removable plate that sat behind the rear seat may or may not have b…

I have modeled several enclosures below the show the difference between large signal and small signal T/S parameters. To gather large signal parameters we use what klippel calls LSI (Large Signal Identification). The following is Klippel's definition of LSI: LSI modules measures the linear, nonlinear and thermal parameters of transducers operated in free air or in a sealed or vented enclosure. The transducer is operated under normal working conditions (vertical position and fixed clamped in a laser stand or enclosure). Starting in the small-signal domain the amplitude is gradually increased up to limits admissible for the particular transducer. The maximal amplitude …

Would there be any interest for a 30 pound Ethos that was around $450 as an option in addition to the regular 65 pound Ethos?
