The DSS section is a paid forum section dedicated to the advertisement of the Direct Sound Solutions brand and it's customers. Endless bantering will not be tolerated. If member or especially a moderator does not agree with the specifics of someone else's post, notate your point and move on. If need be the issue can be brought to an open forum section, the technical section for examples. The same goes for OP's do NOT stir the pot. If you do not agree with a remark, notate that you have heard their point of view and that WILL be the end of it. In here I am GOD and I will not allow activity that shames the DSS and SSA brands. Would there be any interest for a 30 pound Ethos that was around $450 as an option in addition to the regular 65 pound Ethos?

Yanked everything out of my trunk and am awaiting recones and baskets to build my 15s to 12s. Cutting down on weight and going back to cap banks, 6 banks of 6 3000F Maxwells. Laid the floor in with 2 cans of foam and fastened it down. Going to wait a few days to see if i have and major buckling from the foam before i proceed with building the rest of it. Will all be built in trunk. Have a ton of Kreg jig tools to get the job done. Will still be running my Tara HD 8000 till and if the HD 10k comes then ill swap them out. Car tends to like a lower peak and it was brought down a tad lower after using another bulk back on my doors. So ill do some MECA with it this coming seas…

so I have a ford f150 single cab.. I have nothing for room.. I had to sundown sa 10's in it and it just wasnt enough for me.. So I ordered the 12's DSS Ethos I really want a car so my friend is gonna trade me his 1994 buick roadmaster it had only 120,000 miles and it already has all the wires ran I need for this new setup and he has 2 10's beyma loudspeakers with a old skool autotek amp from the early 90's.. So thats pretty sweet.. Anyways the car is huge.. So I will have more then enough room for what im getting... so I think it would be a great idea to get the DSS Ethos 15's instead of the 12's I ordered... What do u guys think? Should I go with the 15's.. Hopfully I …

Title should read "How does this "Blow-Thru" type box look? 2 12" Ethos. So I wasn't sure if I just wanted to take my rear seat out and do like a half wall with more cone area or not. I came across this idea though before I would do that. I wanna take out the 40 back part of the seat of the 40/60 seats that fold down and then have a long external port from my box come through there and then lay down a board to block the open area so it's sealed off from the trunk. If you don't understand I have pics below to show what I mean. Would this work good though? It would be like porting through the ski-hole armrest in the back seat, but just a larger opening. The external par…

Two new drivers coming this fall. 1) Trident. The first transducer ever brought to market with three gaps. With an Re or 1.6 and a BL of 20.75 it will be one of the stoutest 3 inch non neo driver on the market. Coupled with a moving mass about 25% less than the competition the efficiency rating will be fantastic. Plus due to the fact it is MMAG it will regain nearly all its BL all the way to 35mm one way xmax it will has less power compression that just about any driver on the market. 2) The Encore, aka the Ethos's little brother, 1,000 watt 20mm one way xmax. And I know everyone wanted the Primo to be available this fall. Well that's not gonna happen. After…

I have a 99 yukon denali (aka tahoe) that I want to upgrage to 4 dss ethos 18s. I currently have 6 xfl 12s on 7k in a 12.2 cube net box. I have about 7 inches of space between the port and the back door. Do you think I can get 4 18s in this space or should I stick with going 4 15s? Currently I have my batteries and 2 amps behind the back seats as well.

Orders are now closed for all Ethos drivers. Estimated time of arrival on the orders purchased through the preorder is scheduled in towards the end of October. We will update customers as we get more up to date information from our suppliers. We are working on getting all soft parts assembled so we will only have to drop in the soft parts once the motors arrive. This will minimize build time greatly. All pre-order sales are final. No refunds will be issued for pre-orders. The arrival time is an estimated timeframe only. The drivers could arrive earlier or later than expected. Due to unexpectedly high sales volume we have sold 90 percent of the Ethos motors ordered…

So my setup consists of 2 Ethos 15s on a HD-8000 in a 03 impala. First try at the setup was a 6 cube street box with external ports tuned to 39hz. Musically fierce but with a flat response from the lower 40s to 50hz. With a slight peak at 47hz. I metered at 48 sealed on the dash in this round of testing. Typically i run MECA and my car has seemed to favor being open to meter in the past. For a daily guy i could see it doing much better with a low 30-32hz tuning for some good daily listening. Now to try something different i pulled my ports off and made some plate covers. Just wanted to see if i could get a better low end response. It did pick up alot more low end with…

Went thru many amplifier changes before the build was even complete.Went from a Atomic 5k to a DD M4 to a Tara HD8000. Used my burp box in another vehicle and built a street box for the Etho 15s. Have had minimal playtime with them but the initial results were good. Tight accurate response. Did have a small hiccup that has had a band-aid put on just to get some testing in and show them off at a little local show tomorrow. So far ive done a 148 flat with them sealed on the dash from 44-47hz which is close to my vehicles peak. Have not done any meca style metering yet but in the past thats where it has typically shined. Going to play around with some more enclosures once i …

Hey Q, just as an heads up. I'm not really sure if this is because of the first batch of spiders you've received or not. I just know it's kind of been an common thing now, at least between the subs I've owned, along with others I've communicated with. When you move the spiders in an up and down rotation, one at a time, you hear this funny noise. It's not audible during play, and it's not with every subwoofer. I know you've always taken good care of everyone, and don't mean this thread to come across negative. Just informative, as it could be something to look out for in regards for the October shipment. It's time to start working on amps for future availability so I need to figure out what features that need to go into the product so I can have samples developed. The amp part is easy, it just needs to amplify input signal. We are gonna let a DSP do all the hard work. This means NO crossover networks in my amps. Only a knob for gain matching. But the question is what features do we really need in the DSP? NOTE: I HAVE A NDA WITH MY SUPPLIER. I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT DUE TO LEGAL PURPOSES GIVE ANY HINT TO WHAT SUPPLIER WILL BUILD MY DSP. DO NOT ASK So, below are a few features I think it needs. Give your input let me know what else would be necessary or benef…

Are there any designs that have been posted for a single 12 ported enclosure? I have no clue as to how to design one. I'm sure I could try myself but would rather trust someone who actually knows what they're doing. Thanks!
