Posted March 1, 200817 yr After forever the build is finally coming together. I have an Adcom GTP-450 pre-amp with a GFA-535L for power (60W @ 8). I'm going to do the build using a combination of MDF and Oak.The neighbors shop setup More pics to come soon
March 2, 200817 yr Author Thanks. The table saw picture actually gives no depth to the shop at all. Being able to do a hole sheet of whatever at once is a blessingMore Pics in the AM!
March 2, 200817 yr Author Moving along nicely! The last pieces that need to go onand the router to do some work soonsome quick thoughts....I noticed that the oak is ever so slightly thinner than MDF. I'm also very glad that tightbond makes there bottles idiot proof when it come to leaving them open, otherwise I would have already dried up 2 bottles more than likely.Soon I will post all the notes and stuff I wrote when drawing out the enclosure.
March 2, 200817 yr We have some of those routers. *edit* I'll bet the Oak ply is 18mm and the MDF is 3/4" (or 19mm)
March 9, 200817 yr Author *Update*A good router bit is amazing!Clamped...and doneTomorrow I will pick up some polyfill, cut out the hole for the driver, finish up other tidbits, and start the staining/painting phase.
March 10, 200817 yr Author Mo PicTasPolyfil! Some router edging I did. A little burning but it gives it characterBaffles. I cut the outside with a jig I made and the inside with a jigsawThe Circle Jig I made
March 15, 200817 yr Author Oh Snap! Did I actually finish something???Wow! I think I did!First play was some Miles Davis - Bitches Brew, followed by some Merrel Haggard Love the sound. The high end was simply amazing. The room they are in has a 16 cathedral ceiling so I feel the bass response will be better in the lower roof environment of my dorm room.
