To all those who know me on her and to those who will know me.
Get out you pen and notebook. Knowledge is something you must earn and can not just be spoon feed. You will not learn everything overnight but IF you want to learn than you WILL. I have spent a year+ learning the very little I know but I completely understand everything I have learned. I must completely understand something before I feel I have learned it. On another note There are things in this world I could school audio techs on So I guess you could say "I know what I know". One more word of advice: Talk less, listen more. NO SPOON FEEDING ALLOWED2 points

First taste of Sundown Goodness
1 pointFirst of all, I'd like to thank the staff at SSA and Sundown Audio for putting up with my constant stream of questions and for getting this thing out so fast. After getting this one I'm looking forward to getting the 100.4, it must be a beast too. I can't get over how much heavier the Sundown is than my Hifonics. Based on weight alone I don't know how the Hifonics had enough power supply to it to produce 2kW and I know it wasn't. Thanks again to SSA and Sundown and now for a few pics. Too cool, individually tested before they're shipped!1 point

1 pointLOL! Because AQ recommends 38 Hz. tuning and AQ says they still generate frequencies below 30 Hz.1 point

You know I still go into the technical section, and advanced section and re read, you always have to search and brush up on knowledge. No one person knows everything about this hobby.1 point

New Product - SAZ-2500D - Coming Soon
Already happening... Z v.2 and NS v.2 are coming out -- need to handle that first Right, I read somewhere that you wanted to design a 1000rms sub and like a 300rms sub. 1000 and 400 respectively. Working on those projects too.1 point

Speedtest results?? how to make signature
Ok, so what are you asking? How to decrease the size of the banner you want to put in your signature? If it is a simple image, and you are on a Windows box, just jump into Paint, and use the sizing tool to shrink it to 75% Height and 75% Width.1 point

xcon sound quality comparable to an icon,fi q or aa havoc??
If you hear ludacris-how low with an xcon you'll never want another sub. The drop to the low sounds so good and pounds so hard its incredible and thats comin from a 2.75cu box. I might pee myself in a couple days when i got 4cu's.1 point

First taste of Sundown Goodness
1 pointThanks fan, I'm glad to finally have something worth the purchase! Small Town, I don't know what you think of your Hifonics or what you have had to compare them to but I was never impressed with mine. I've had a BXi2006D and a ZXi6006 for a few years now and when I first bought them I liked them alot. Then I went to some car shows, listened to amps from Zapco, Audison, Arc Audio, Image Dynamics, and many other good brands. The guys were cool enough to let me hear their cars on music I was VERY familiar with and it about took my breath away. Now, there's many many diffrences between mine and their systems including the speakers themselves, the installations and everything so it wasn't an apples to apples comparison. However, after getting home I could hear a difference I can only describe as grainy. I took my O-scope and started playing with the system and sure enough, the distortion starts climbing on the Hifonics amps long before they're maxed out. I then referrenced my system with a friend's all Boston Acoustics setup, swapping out amps between the vehicles and everything. It was then I realized exactly what the difference in quality really is. I was actually hearing the small amount of distortion at moderate volume levels and when compared to the quiet, controlled sound of the Boston amp the Hifonics amps sounded like crap. I was hell bent on getting new ones after that and now I'm almost there.1 point

1 pointSubwoofers can not be compared at all, they are made for different goals in mind so this is a useless thread. Read new member topic guidelines (comaprison threads are useless). The AQ can get loud and the CVX will do better on the lows, so it is a compromise which one you will want to go with (you cant have both, car audio is full of compromises). Next time make a topic on helping you pick a sub that fits your: goals, sound preference, budget, enclosure size availability and so on. Those subs could be put on a 3000watt amp if gains are set right and volume control is use wisely but would I do it no. If you get the AQ 2200D with the CVX's set your gains right with a DMM and you will be fine, just because an amp puts out 2200 watts doesnt mean it is doing it on a constant basis since music is dynamic (there is no problem with having head room). Head room will help some individuals keep from clipping there amp since some want to turn it up as loud as it can go.1 point

Aero port help
1 point4" x 3.14 = 12.5 sq. in. each 6" x 3.14 = 18.8 sq. in. each If I'm not mistaken Except area of a circle isn's r*2, it's r^2. So the 6" port would actually be 9 * 3.14 = 28.3. I knew someone smarter than me would get here sooner or later. I see everyone talking about a areo ports the last couple days, so I was trying to brush up on the my math with google. Its been about 15 years since school for me. So I think this is correct , radius x radius x pi = surface area or as you wrote radius squared x pi = surface area? Thanks for the schooling KU40, I love to learn and I listen to anything you say. When calculating Areo ports do you add anything extra to the surface area for the flare or just calculate like a regular round port? While I'm at it do you know where to start measuring port lenght on a kerfed slot port opening? Thanks for the props, I try Aeroports are figured a little differently than regular round ports as far as length goes because the flares at the end do add a bit to the length. I don't know the amount offhand, but I'm sure you can find a calculator for it online somewhere. If not, my aero ports came with the equation when I ordered them from partsexpress.com. As for kerfed ports, I'm not sure. I've never messed with those before.1 point

xcon sound quality comparable to an icon,fi q or aa havoc??
Agree with things people have posted before this, but just an fyi to you- a sub's power handling has absolutely nothing to do with its sound quality. Nor does a high number even mean it will get loud. Quoted for a reason. To add to it, I wish I had more people demo the Xcon in the sealed box I had it in with only 240 watts. It would have helped get rid of this perception that just because it is ratted for 1750, does not mean in the slightest that it needs it. Along the lines of having a 911 GT3, just because it can do 180+mph, does not mean you need to drive it that fast to still get insane performance.1 point

xcon sound quality comparable to an icon,fi q or aa havoc??
i never knew that the xcon took after the icon. all i knew was that it had good output and that ssa tends to make good sq products. so relax a little Jay is only of the more relaxed guys on the site. Anyway, the Xcon does not really take after the Icon. They are different in design, only shared parts are surround and basket. The Xcon is the sound quality choice for those people who want to push their output limits also. The Icon has some good xmax, but the Xcon takes it to another level. So the Xcon is like the Icon on the juice, but it took a different path to get there.1 point

You've got a very strange sense of humor. I would laugh if I see a guy bail out your car because of the system being too loud(installed properly maybe). But that is just disgrace... That woofer deserves more than played in a "door sealed with cardboard and ducktape... Maybe this looks funny to you, but for us audiophiles... we love your subs and amps. We spend hours and hours a day trying to "take care" of them so they will take care of us when we turn the volume up. If you are so bored, why don't your try make a real box? I don't know about you, but with 300$ I can build myself like 2 or 3 boxes. lol are you pucking serious? he can do whatever he wants. its a free country. in fact i could just go buy 10 xcons and just throw them off the roof of my house onto my asphault driveway. lol if theyre mine i can do whatever i want with them. just because its a car audio driver doesnt mean he HAS to go make a "real box" and make it into a nice system in his car. wth is wrong with you? did you just find out your gf cheated on you with 10 dudes so you get on these forums and just talk down on people? shit... I applaud this guy for doing something creative when hes bored. dont be such a pucking debby downer. EDIT: why does it seem like half the people on this forum are just here to one up people and try to prove they have more knowledge about audio then anyone else? he was just sharing a creative experience he had when he was bored with us. i dont see what is so wrong with putting a sub in a door or cardboard or whatever that is. god damn....-1 points

To all those who know me on her and to those who will know me.
I know I may seem dumb to some of you guys on here since you guys are pro's and know your stuff. But audio, whether its car audio or house audio or even headphones it not my hobby its my passion, my obsession. I want to learn everything about it, not just the basics, I want to know everything even if its barely necessary. But some of you guys aren't very willing to teach me, I do search Google 90% of the time there have been a couple times I didn't but its usually because I wasn't thinking or the fact I am tired, since I stay up late. But can you guys help me when I need it so I can be as smart as you. please. I'm sorry if this is a problem.-1 points
