  1. there is a car show and live performance, and i will be doing a non sanctioned sound off no points no trophies,. but it will be fun! in san marcos text october 8th..... willl you be there?
  2. Vehicle is 1992 volvo 240 wagon The goal of this build was to get loud on the mids and highs and get as loud and low as possible on two 12's!!!!!!!!!First box for this system was really nice but not enough port area so the bl's werent liking it very muddy sounding wasnt happy so i pulled out my old box and trimed it up to fit the vehicle and it was a perfect match up. Moves some air like it should! electrical consist of 275amp Ohio generator Alternator a 17ft run of welding supply 1/0guage all connections crimped with hydraulic crimper thanks to "Sirlancelot" Yellow top optima g34 upfront with one kinetic 2400 in the rear atm have one more to add in just ran out of 1/0guage terminals. Equipment: Clarion Deck 4volt preamp with decent equalizer good budget deck -Bass Amp Cresendo Audio 3500bc upgraded from a Aq200d very happy with the cresendo!!! -Mids highs amp: Mb Quart Q series 150rms x4 the components are 2.7ohms so its running at a lower Independence amps alright heats up real quick in 100degree weather like boiling eggs on top of it type heat. -Components Polk MM 6.5'sx2 125rms for each pair. They sound really good taking all the power from the mb quart with no problem! Pics of the old setup for recap for the peeps. Old Aq was a really good amp for a budget build for only 389 shipped. Then they raised the price to 429$ not worth it to me. That was about it for the old setup didn't have enough time to finish everything until i Sal the crescendo 3500d and i had to have it was so sexy and cheap! Was running the crescendo on the fi's in the stained in the varnish box received more output of the subs the quality of sound was really muddy didnt not enjoy it at all! For the mids highs where the sound was coming from wasnt a big deal i just wanted to get loud! I know your suppose to have sound coming from left to right but fiberglass takes to much time. So i just decided to stick on the mids and highs in a speaker pod enclosure made out of mdf then vinyl it sounds really good actually not that bad for the sound coming from behind. Picture of the other subwoofer box has alot more port area then the stained and varnished box. Not as pretty looking though but who cares as long as it gets loud and low! The amps in the compartment the car has little messing only because the volt meter run was a little short so its going across everything! One kinetic 2400 need to build a enclousure for the battery to keep it stable but its fine for now nothing is going to spark or do any damage. Mids highs from back you can see how they are not going anywhere with the stillets on them. Old sub box chilling on box's while i take out the subs out! Dont bother the oil leaks on drive way a shitty ford f-250 did that go figure a ford vehicle . Now with the subs installed with the box with lot more port area MADE a huge difference on the lows and the quality of sound!!!!!!! Last photo of Clarion with voltmeter and working on mounting gain knob! Thats all the pictures for now have only one more thing left to install which is the kinetic 2400 then ill be happy for the time being!

some fucking jack ass gave me a negative mark for my comment IT WAS A FUCKING JOKE!
  4. Then some setting needs to be changed on the headunit or the rcas are plugged in wrong inputs, or the rca inputs on the headunit are bad.
  5. Sorry about the typo. I didn't draw any more braces cause the drawing was cluttered enough. You should add at least two more braces to tie the top and bottom of the main box together. just make sure they aren't in the way of the subs or their vents. Duane Gotta go cook supper... I'll check in later! zshortcut. if you send me your email i will send a better pic (PDF)
  6. Coils are already pretty dark on them, here is a pic of one of my twelves. It was never abused.
  7. SSA lists 4cf. but I'd think you could be ok with as little as 3cf. I didn't know you had these installed already. do you have a pic? How does 22" deep sound? 16x33x22. I haven't quite got the details down yet, but it should end up close to 4cf. Ok, I've got a final design. 15x33x22. net vol = 3.5 cf. 3.5x14.5 slot port. Port and subs facing back. you should get about 6db more out of this box at 40hz. (than your sealed box) That is like adding 2 more subs! Duane The port is only 14.5 inches long? Could be wrong, but I believe 14.5 is the height. Not if the height is 15", that would make the port height 13.5". I think I see what he did, the 14.5 is the second port length after the turn. If that is the case the box is tuned pretty low, I'd go for a bit higher tuning, more port area, and a double baffle.
  8. just get the pac audio volume controller. it controls the voltage from the rca line.
  9. Stock vs. HID Headunit installed I posted a few pics of my friends crashed Audi A4, he just bought a older BMW and we did his install today aswell. This is just temporary till we build his show setup.
  10. Those enclosures are loosing TONS of aggression by just "Laying" on the back seats ... Remove the back seats and "Mount" the enclosures to the body of the vehicles ... YOU WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE !!! Mount those enclosures correctly and I would be willing to bet there would be a BIG difference ... Just my suggestion here ... Randal ...

Why the w6 if loud is your goal? Seriously comparing apples to oranges. Based on your question no matter the answer the JL's are NOT the right sub for you.

He asked louder not better and the only way to know is to build and see. So many factors will come into play. Builder, box, car, power, electrical just to name a few.
  13. No...they require relatively high tuning. They are designed for it.
  14. Interesting leads, hope they don't snap on you. Best of luck on your 150.
  15. First of all read through Sound Deadener Showdown As stated above your goals will ultimitley determine the amount of deadener you need.
  16. It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. My general rule of thumb is to reinstall as much of the factory material as possible after treatment.
  17. Kouki Tail Light Conversion | Before and After - 1991 Toyota MR2 | Plus custom backup camera under emblem...! MR2
  18. first time i ever made a box, i want to add a plexi window and carpet getting the wood cut at lowes it ended up being 3 inches to wide to fit through the opening of my trunk
  19. So this is my distraction from taking the HQ pics. I decided to tear apart the rear end and start working on installing the Kouki Tail Lights conversion and heck...we are adding a rear view camera to the system at the same time...here's some pics... MR2
  20. some subs just start making noise out of no where.. i have had a few RE's like that.... late models

  23. Nice double post! Better to keep this between you and Tejcurrent and not bring it to a public forum!
  24. i would take my finger nail.. or somthing like it.. and go along the edge of the dust cap.. it does not seem to been glued all the way.
  25. I am curious as to what causes you to say that. I have yet to see or hear where optima actually lasts in someone's vehicle that is into car audio. Also, I believe the charging requirements for optima is stricter than xs so if he ever got a high output alt that charged closed to 15v, that could be another problem. I have a buddy who bought 4 Group 34 yellow tops used 3 years ago, and they are still holding up strong. And he used them for car audio the whole time, and as did the guy before him. And they have had a HO alternator charging at 14.9ish the whole time also. Still no problem. Seems you heard of a few insists of Optimas failing and now thinking they all must be the same way. Sound kind of ignorant to me. A good percent of the time when something fails, its user error. And usually on the internet, people rarely tell the whole truth when talking about a problem they had with a product, so they can blame the company instead of theirself. Now, if you have had countless amount of Opti's and have countless problems, I could understand. But going direct on hear say isn't always truthful. Not trying to single you out, but people read a few bad things and automatically think the product sucks. And sometimes the own company.
