  1. Companies who under rate their equipment such a drastic amount, then have everyone believe they are "magic" subs or amps. Some how producing/handling way more power then their RMS say they can. Do you not see what is going on? The woofer isn't "badass" because it's rated "600rms" but you magically put 1,000rms-1,500rms on it without it dying. Guess what? It's not a "600" watt sub. It's a 1,000-1,500w sub rated at 600wrms to make the stupid people think it's the best thing since sliced bread. And guess what? It works..... Same thing goes for amps. If you have a "2000" amp. But EVERYONE who tests it gets 2500+ out of it. Guess what, It's not a mega powerful 2000w amps that's magic. It's a 2500w rated at 2000. Just to impress the idiots. WHICH LEADS ME TO ANOTHER THING!!!! There are, different kinds of watts. 3000watts from one amp can be COMPLETELY different the 3000w from another amp. Sigh. I guess I'm done.
  2. What are you talking about? And why would you dig up almost a 2 month old thread? I mean really.......
  3. thanks guys... heres a pic i drew up with paint to show how im gonna run the battery bank... the amp will be on top of the batt bank though so the wires for the amp will be shorter! ill probably ground the middle battery to
  4. Thank bro. ya I decided to keep the BTLs and will be walling them I just ordered some stuff ill have pics when they come in.
  5. I thought it was. http://www.bcae1.com/2ltlpwr.htm
  6. Speaking from the other side of the table, when it comes to sub woofer ratings (as it was one of the things mentioned), Nick and I reference something called DAF. It is something many quality brands are forced to do that don't have the margins many other brands do. You have to dial in a little extra room for user error when it comes to what information you present to the public. Since I can speak on it directly, we rate our wonderful Xcon at 1750 watts root mean square (the actual use of RMS can be a different topic), but are there people putting 2500 watts to the Xcon in normal installs with no signs of stress, failure or thermal limitations? Yes, that is because they know how to properly set their amplifier (and/or processor) and head unit settings, know when to pay attention to the sub woofer when setting everything, along with place that Xcon in a proper enclosure meant for it. Will you ever see me say yes, put 2500 watts on an Xcon? No, because what I say in public has to be slightly filtered for the DAF. By no means am I claiming I have never blown a driver, far from it, just trying to explain the business side of it. In terms of the margins, Audiopipe was mentioned before. Now they make an affordable amplifier that budget minded people are liking. Is it a Zapco C2K? Not remotely close, but it is still putting out power. So when it comes to the mindset of price perception, there are many reasons some things are much cheaper to buy and those companies can just toss the amp out and easily give you a new one as a replacement, instead of replacing a torched power supply or flied mosfet. This is due to the fact that even with their much more affordable pricing, they still have quite a margin over brands that cannot just throw you a new one when the original fails or gets torched. I am not saying Audiopipe amplifiers are bad at all, just trying to introduce the idea about the relative costs of what you are buying and truly why somethings are so much cheaper.
  7. so you dont think that clipping causes heat thus causing glue failure en-turn causing speaker failure ?
  8. What you forgot to mention is price...which is the real key. It's not about being "Underrated" per se...but more about feeling like you got more than you paid for. If a 600wrms woofer costs...we'll say ~175 on average and you pay that but get a woofer that will safely handle 1000wrms then guess what, that's awesome. If a company is willing to sell their 1000wrms sub for the price of a 600wrms sub then is it really them being "misleading" to get sales? The same goes with amplifiers too. People rip on Audiopipe because there has to be a negative right? It can't POSSIBLY be that cheap, that easy to get, and still make the power it claims to make right? Obviously it's a cheaply built distortion machine? But take a Sundown or JL amp that costs buku. They're solidly engineered, extensively tested, and come with excellent customer service and product guarantees right? (Not to say that they aren't but most people who say that have no fvcking clue what they're talking about. People say amps are "SQ amps" and "SPL" amps but what the bat shit does that mean? That SPL amps have higher distortion levels? How do you know?) That's bullshit. I call Jackie at Audiopipe and she trades my busted amp for a new one no problems. Or she sends me the part I need and I pay shipping (real life experience btw). What customer service is better than that? When you sell stuff for very cheap, people will say it's crap, assume it's crap, and swear that it's crap. If you saw a new company you had never heard of and they had a sub rated for 2k with a price of $199.99 shipped would you buy it? Everybody says it's great and the company is great (and of course they're nuthuggers right? Cuz they like what they bought and reccommend it to anyone that asks?) would you get it? Most people won't. They like to feel like they spent money on something awesome and they'll spend a lot more in most cases for that security. Got damn that shit is long.
  9. Thanks! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  10. The ignorance over at SM D is simply amazing. Wow. 100V x 20A = 2000w is very different then 20V x 100A = 2000w. That's not hard to get is it?
  11. wow something was finally learned from this rediculous topic after the 4th page lol. Lantz it really doesnt matter what you get because your always gonna want more and more insteading of taking a minute to stop and admire what you have at the present time. shit im bangin 2 12" audiobahn flames for god sakes and am actualy pretty surprised in how loud they get!! going from 1 setup to another isnt going to change by much. i judge my subs usually on how well they play the type of music i listen too cuz ya i might get loud but if it sounds like crap youll never be pleased. Sounds like the zcon is much better built, cheaper, saves more space, less likely to get broken into and robbed if someone sees 4 15's, and will most likely sound worlds better.....Oh and did i mention youll be supporting the site that you for some reason try to bug everyday. I think my decision woulda been made up after the first 3 replys dont you??? Im sure youll pick the best choice though and hopefully youll be greatful for it cuz some of us just dream of having any of these subs that SSA has to offer...Cuz i know for damn sure i do almost every night . GOODLUCK YOOOOOOOOOO
  12. Thank you Mark and Aaron for the outrageous deals. I almost bought two icons and instead got the xcons for a little bit cheaper. I already have the test box ready to go. Can't wait to throw them in. The icon was the best driver I've ever had my hands on. Im sure the Xcon will blow me away. Thank you again guys, much appreciation
  13. wow i just watched the whole thing and didnt plan to lmao. Two of my favorite things there, science and colbert lol I loved when Dr. Tyson said "It has no obligation to make sense to you because your sense didnt come from there!" when he was talking about quantum physics. im so inspired right now, thanks for posting this. Man your just gettin everything right this weekend lmao! When my brain is really firing along at work and I am not being disturbed, I will listen to talks from Dr Tyson, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sagan and some Hawkins. some of my favorites as well, you might also enjoy Lawrence Krause.

Their pricing is one issue, but the main reason is their popularity. For quite some time, MANY people ran them and considered them the best. They quickly grew from a small company to one of, if not the best sub manufacturer in the industry. The W7 is still in a class of it's own. There are comparable products, but very few on the same level as the W7. JL has ALWAYS been a B&M company and they have worked very hard to protect their products and their dealers. Nothing holds it's value like a JL product.
  16. yes sir. thanks for your help bro! will do once i get the batts
  17. don't run that amp below 1ohm either..you're just asking for trouble.

  24. Do what you say and we're fine, however, it surely isn't possible for someone to have Skar inventory that didn't come from you so therefore you are the only one that can fix the situation appropriately. It is also most definitely by your actions it happened. Not saying its you, but surely caused and controlled by you whether you want that responsibility or not you've got it. I don't care to debate either, but don't go parading into a thread and defer all responsibility for a situation that is solely created by yourself and think I'll not comment. If it was your shot at clearing the air, feel free the stage is yours. Do expect if you try to slough this off on some woe is me story I'll call you out on it.
