I was yangin on it a bit headin home from the speedway today and heard a loud ass pop/crack through the zcon....scared the shit outta me, so now I gotta investigate that. SSA Carbon Fiber Convex Dust Cap
1 pointI just finished installing my SSA Carbon Fiber Convex Dust Cap and I am really impressed by the way it looks. I have not taking a listen yet, though I'm sure there won't be any audibel difference. Here are a few photos I have taken. Here is a overview of both caps side by side Here you can that the original cap is "taller". Not exactly sure how this will affect anything. In this picture, it is very hard to see, but I place the new cap over on top of the other, to show that the new cap's "flanged" is just a hair bit longer. In this photo, you can see some bubbles in the crease around the cap before the flange begins. In this photo, pretty hard to see, but really really close up, you can see these "scratches"? I'm not exactly sure where this is from lol. But you have to be really close to see. In this photo, you can see all of its sexyness In this photo, you can see one of the problems I ran into. When removing the original cap, whats left is the glue's residue? I'm not sure what to call it, but it leaves two O-type rings around the former. When trying to lay down the New cap, it would not sit flat or flush. So I was forced to chip away with a small flat head screw driver on the outer ring. The inner ring seems a bit more permanent. Here is the epoxy I just picket up from Lowe's. Seems to work really well. It got real stinky real fast. In this photo, you can see the outter ring chiped away. And here is it installed I got a bit messy This was my first time every doing this, but atleast its clear, so it doesn't look too too bad. Cosmetically though, this looks aMAZEing. Also, I will note that the cap I recieved, did not flush with the cone. It seems that the cone, and the flang are formed at two different angles. Not too too much difference, but enough to not look flush. So I had to use a little bit more glue, and push down as much as I could to try and make sure there is no gaps in between the connection of the cap and the cone. The original cone does seem a bit more "solid" for the lack of term. Like, the original cap is a hard plastic, you could knock on the back of the cap, and it would make a decent "thund". But the new cap, like, I could push it in? If that makes sense. I've never personally handled Carbon Fiber, so I don't know what to expect. Maybe bend but never break kind of thing? lol. It is extremely light though! So overall, I am pleased with this product and would definately purchase more in the future. Thank you very much SSA and Duran for allowing to me purchase another amazing top notch quality item1 point

1 pointYes, Duran does not have a 12" GCON cap mold yet. So I peeled off the sticker and sent it to him. Cool so the new cap will have the logo on it? Yessir. The design will be slightly different but will still say SSA GCON.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 point- 1 sub is blowing within seconds,
1 pointSucks. You have a shitload of power and strong electrical, so when this type of thing happens, it happens full-out...1 point- liljestrands 72 honda n600 soon to be filled with b2.
It came with a rebuilt stock engine that looks pretty clean so Ill get that checked out and probably just roll with that. Its got 1 pulley on it for the fan, I can just swap that for an electric fan and we'll see what alt I can fab in that wont instantly kill the engine. Plus I got a extra motor and tranny that is torn apart atm that I may possibly bore out etc and get this thing up to 40 hp lol.1 point- ShiZZZoN's Build #2 The Epicness of 2011-2024
LOL @ Senchez saying "me & Sean"......what you got to do with the build other than posting his pics? I'm ready for this beast to get done & bangin Sean!1 point- Team IAK IronMan Explorer

1 pointTell the truth bro.....bangin on it during drunkin demo's is how you popped that dustcap! Senchez=failinator......bwahahahahaha!!!1 point- Amping Mids and Highs
1 pointsounds like a bad idea why is that? Im not disagreeing with you, im just curious why you say that. Unless you know what you're doing... Those are very hard things to "match" in sound.... And if you knew what you were doing then you probably wouldn't even think of that... A nice 2-way set should be more than sufficient.. If not, then maybe you can power the tweeters off the HU and the mids off the amplifier... But no 6x9 in the mix...1 point- Austin863's X-WAGON Build

1 pointThis simply is the best car audio forum I have found. I could have saved a couple hundred bucks if only I had found this site before jumping back into car audio from a 10 year hiatus. There are some seriously knowledgable pros here.1 point- Hello
1 pointWelcome! Ive only been a member here for a short time and ive learned quite a few things. I know you will too.1 point- liljestrands 72 honda n600 soon to be filled with b2.

1 pointto the forum!! Nice choice in equipment too! You're gonna love that GCON and Leviathan. Unfortunately I can't speak to the IA coax's or comps since I've not had a chance to use or listen to them, but they get a lot of good word from others who've used them. With a good enclosure and install on the speakers I'm sure you'll be enjoying it all very much!1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointSome people, also known as women, who had not seen me in a long time were extra flirty the other night. Kept grabbing my arm under the cuff of my shirt. That was a HUGE ego boost.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP
1 pointHow goes it guys? Jared like I said man the door is open if you need/want it. Me...........well wife fucked up the passenger side of my Tundra yesterday, and this morning we found our her 30 day deferment to Korea got denied. As of Monday when we left work, we were being told it was being approved. She leaves Monday for a year. J1 point- Audio technix deadener.....
1 pointI mention that from time to time, and some people just don't know or remember. SSA and SIN were one of the first to have brand vendor forums. Neither of us charged for it for a very long time. Speaking to everyone reading this, not just Brad; Once brand forums became standard on all the other forums, as around 2007/2008 is when we saw the rampant duplication of our layout, vendor forums became monetized. In the same train of thought of Milne, many of these brands who cannot handle criticism or think they have to present a synthetic perfect image to customers, have taken the delusional mind set of that since they are paying for a section, they think they should have total control over the data or information in relation to their products. Well, that is flat out incorrect, the data belongs to the owners of the forum, the vendors are paying for the right to have a dedicated section, nothing more. What is worse is when the forum staff (moderators or owners), think they need to delete any negative feedback to protect their vendors or butt buddies. Then what happens is people try to understand via PM or email, then they get banned. You will never see that here (as Brad said). This is clearly a very bad issue at amateur hour forums, where deeply rooted issues of insecurity and pissing contests are the standard psychological mindset. And no, I'm not referring to the 16 year old kids who just got their first car and want to out do their buddies in the school parking lot, I am talking about the 30-40+ somethings that still have not grown up and feel it is completely okay to act the way the 16 year old's do, the difference being is that they have gained 'post delete' or 'ban member' functions. Where this problem becomes HUGELY damaging, is when the young crowd, specifically the above mentioned 16 year old's fresh onto the audio scene are fed blatant lies, half-truths or are completely miss-led due to lack of honest information. This becomes clearly evident when you read posts on other forums by younger members that say something along the lines of "Well I have not heard anything bad about them, and they were good to me, so I'm going to stick with them", essentially saying that they don't care that others have been screwed over because it was not them. What those kids don't understand is that they are only perpetuating the bottom of the barrel 'companies' and forums to continue to thrive, be it with poor by passable product or be it with massively distorted or slanted information available. This in turn continues to have an effect on the perception of car audio as a whole, and why it is becoming a lesser and lesser enjoyable hobby as it once was. Much of this fake presentation is supported by giving out free product under the guise of a review. This breeds the blind fan boys that only add more fuel to the above mentioned issue of distorted/filtered/false information to assist in making money off people who don't know better who end up buying inferior product or buying from an inferior company. /sadly I know this rant won't make a difference or effect much of anything1 point - 12" SSA GCON box build
