  1. Sorry guys, in all the Evil excitment I forgot to post this picture.
  2. As this topic has run it's course and served it's purpose, I am closing it. All of this was over just a few orders that were knocked out of order due to a mistake at the build house that was and still is costly for us, it upset some customers and caused tremendous stress and long nights making sure all customers got what they ordered. A few things: This is completely NOT the norm with the time lineThis was only a few ordersThe factory has corrected the issueThe factory has added staffThe factory is in a new and larger locationBuild / lead times are getting less and less each weekWhen the factory is able to, we will have a small inventory built up again
  3. i think i have to change my underwear.....
  4. I thought the name was a clever marketing technique personally. also 84db @ 1w? thats fairly low compared to similar drivers like this that I've seen. Seems designed more for show/bragging rights by the price, limited number, large excursion, large RMS, and name. The sensitivity doesn't mean anything by itself. So even if it low it doesn't mean it won't be as loud as others with higher sensitivity. You assume too much, I never said it was the deciding factor to how loud a sub was... simply making an observation... I didn't know if you knew that or not. I was just letting you know just incase since not a lot of people do know that and sometimes will make a purchase just on sensitivity. Sorry about that.
  5. Probably the only woofer that can take that much power is the most rarest, deadliest, and badassed woofer of all time. Dun dun dun...Le Funky Pup
  6. This thread is full of......WOW just WOW. OP-These guys know their shit and if you will listen and follow the links they provide, not only will YOU be better at this sport, but your equipment/setup will be better. I promise you are in good hands. It got off to a rough start because of how you were coming off, but they are still willing to help you-TAKE IT! I even seen that a member on here offered TO COME TO YOU TO HELP! Where else on any forum can you find that? No where. And I know brutalbasser knows his shit, so if he is offering still, then TAKE IT! I am not shouting at you, I just want you to see those words. This is a great place to learn and hangout, and I would love to see you take the advice and take your build to the next level. Take some time to read and re-read what is being said and process it. Hope all works out for you and as stated this is not the site to be on for someone to just say "Hey go buy this amp and this wooooofer and you will be king of all deebeez" We don't play that. Solid advice and self teaching.....

I have 2 xcon d1 18's. I want to either sell them or trade 1 and sell the other. im looking for either a zcon 15 plus cash(from me) for 1 of the 18's. or 2 18's for 1 zcon 15 and $250(from you). orrrrrrr both 18s for 1 SSA evil 15. please let me know asap. Both woofers are in the same condition and practically brand new still super stiff on the suspension and coils look amazing.

For the Icon, we wanted to bump up the motor strength with the new model, we could add a shorting ring down the road after sometime and modeling/testing etc. with an updated version. But it will only add more machining time and more cost to an already VERY costly to build driver in it's respective market segment, for factional gains in lowered inductance that customers have not shown any signs of wanting yet. The Evil plays so flat and clean as it stands, it does not need it. Side note, the Evil needs less juice to get up and rolling from the start then the Zcon. It is unfortunate that sound quality is an after thought for most buyers. Which I am sure is why the market is more biased towards spl. I would love to see Klippel results for all SSA drivers That would answer a few questions some folks have like myself. Just because the market does not demand the SQ I prefer, that does not mean in the slightest we over look it or ignore it in our sub woofers. In general, SQ biased sub woofers, usually need greater development time, higher levels of accuracy in construction due to it that part of the market being so spec driven, tighter tolerances, etc. etc. etc. All leading to much higher build costs. With that said, the internet market is blindly ruled by RMS ratting relative to price. Hence why our original Gcon approach was shelved due to the pricing having to be up in the Icon range. We do have Klippel test results from the original Icon, but that machine is no longer in unbiased hands. Would much rather have Sean (///M5) with access to superior testing equipment be sent some models for test results, but then again, that would cost a good chunk of money we do not have to spend.
  9. You don't need any pink noise generators or mics. You use your ears.
  10. ^^ Meaningless for them to tell you that, especially not knowing your wire gauge. This type of advice is geared twards keeping a moron from running a 20' ground with 10 awg wire for a 3Kw amp... Your ground can be as long as you want. As with (+) run of your cable, it all adds up total restance. So a 4' ground and a 16' (+) is no different than a 1' ground and a 19' (+).
  11. Where did you send the email? I am mostly caught up. Your order will require additional shipping to Canada, but the sub's will ship out from NY. Mark has been out of town for a few days (where your subs are), his flight home has been delayed a few times. Soon as he is home, he will catch up with any questions that were sent to him.
  12. If I end up paying $900 for getting 1 wisdom tooth pulled I will put a crescendo sticker on it and cry myself to sleep all summer.
  13. Just playing around last night, it suprised the shit out of me. Aaron says to give it time to break in and I say I maybe deaf by then. It is super stiff and this thing moves some serious air! Almost afraid to go any harder because I don't want to break my 4runner. Very cool! I will have to get my hands on one soon. If you are ever feeling crazy enough to let her go I am your man. Once I get done with this build I'll probably order one I hope this is the last sub I buy for me. Honestly it is just cool as hell setting out of the box on a stand, but the wife said it did blend in very well. Haha in the nicest way possible, you deserve to have an EVIL sub.

  15. Maybe this will clear things up for the funky pup. 1 watt to a funky pup is like 10000000 watts to a DD Z. These are Chuck Norris’s choice, not for bass, but to replace the engines in all his WalkerTexasRangerMobile’s… 1 funky pup = 500 horses, 2 funky pups = 1500 horses, 3 funky pups = time travel. There was never an atomic bomb, there was 4 funky pups in a .25″ particle board sealed box. They stopped making funky pups because the warehouse they were stored was quickly shifting the earth’s magnetic field. As a result, most of the world’s funky pups are now stored in a secret underground warehouse below Santa Claus’s Elf sweatshop. Its not certain what exactly makes the funky pup’s so much better than everything that ever existed, but it is absolutely certain – THESE ARE THE BEST W00FERS EVER MADE BY MAN OR SPACE MONKEY!
  16. Welcome back, those DCONs are a sub that sure suprised me.
  17. No problem man! It really looks excellent!
  18. Mark is out of town, but should be back soon IIRC.
  19. Yea no problem. Tenney is also a great budget friendly alt company with really good customer service so I've heard. Check them out too to see which will offer you best price and best performance.
  20. A picture is worth a thousand words but a video says it all
  21. Massive box for a massive subwoofer!
  22. haha... bump responsibly before you get your self in trouble.. lol..
  23. Wow that looks great all setup! That sub looks pretty sweet too.
  24. No. The volume is already slim, and another port would displace more volume. Plus you wouldn't be able to achieve a specific tuning unless you adjusted the stock port length as well.
  25. All the picture I have today, but tomorrow there will be more!
  26. Ok this whole Evil sub thing is off the Fucking Hook! Good god just some playing around and it is almost impossible to breath and see straight!
  27. If you already have the enclosure and are on a budget than try it, and see how you like it. If you have the time and patience than perhaps you could build a custom fiberglass one yourself. For the subsonic filter the easiest thing would be to either sell the current amp and purchase one that has the filter, or you could look for an inline filter on parts-express, harrison labs, or use some signal processor to go between your head-unit and amp. If the caps helped alleviate your lights from dimming than perhaps I was wrong, and they can serve some purpose.
  28. Totally depends on power and the install. I would be very careful that far over optimal, BUT if you have low power it would be ok MAKE SURE YOUR SSF IS SET CORRECTLY. I cannot stress that enough. PLEASE PLEASE set your ssf correctly or end up in the noob boat with me after unloading your fantastic amazing subs like a noob because of ssf setting....
  29. The woofer is an OEM project for Sean (EMF) assembled here. As it does use our patented frames that would be expected. People asked for a woofer like this so he is offering it to those people -- it's definitely not for everyone nor is it designed to be a massive quantity selling driver. I am not sure if Sean comes over to SSA to answer further questions; but I imagine they could be posted on the EMF Facebook. ----- As for excursion in a ported box; we have plenty of Team members driving woofers beyond x-mech of our old parts in ported boxes even around tuning for bass boxing. This is why we made new parts with significantly more clearance. This is carrying over to daily as well ; if you check out some videos of our Z v.4 in the little VW Golf we are using about 4" p-p around tuning (in this case tuning is in the high 20s) reliably -- it achieves a pretty impressive 145.5 dB at 25 hz in a super basic enclosure as well. Many other customers with similar goals used two Z v.3s for the same output in this range. This is still yet not for everyone -- not everyone NEEDS that but we offer it for those that need or want it
  30. EMF AUDIO (via Facebook) : Since there seems to be some skeptics and general disbelief of product existence (apparently pics and video isn't enough) and several others just asking, here ya go, Ermagerd 15 d2 parameters: Re 2.8766 ohms Fs 28.33 hz Qes 0.4968 Qms 5.5971 Qts 0.4563 Le 3.2838 mH Vas 42.9541 L BL 23.9283 N/A MMS 555 grams Sens. 84.68 dB @ 1w/1m Sens. 89.12 dB @ 2.83v The Qts will drop a little and BL will go up a little from the motor revision we're waiting on. Inductance will drop as well.
  31. Alright, well, thanks to all who have commented so far. Not much happening just yet. I had to mow the lawn today. :/ Good thing, is that a cold front rolled in, so it was nice and cool outside. Now the good stuff. I broke out with the old tape measure and took some measurements of available space. Scratched my head and stared aimlessly at the Hornresp Input Parameters screen. Then I came up with this: Box volume 1.5cuft (42.47L). Port specs: 4" aero port (81.03cm^2), length 17" (43.18cm). Tuning: 33.62Hz Hornresp Input Parameters screen. SPL Response, 1w@1m, I think. Eeek! look at that peak. O_o Impedance Curve. :/ Looks right to me. Group Delay. I have no idea. Here is a sketch I made of what I'm gonna build. Excuse the mess, I'm left handed. That's it from me. Now your its your turn. Share your thoughts, suggestions, and predictions.
  32. I think they know a mistake was made on their end

The rest of the product line I'm not sure about off-hand, I'll leave that for Mark or Aaron.
  34. I'm feeling perky today. Something to do with getting a job.
  35. Jesus, if the wifes new benefits package really turns out to be what it sounds like her raise will be more closer to 75% raise than 50%.
  36. 3K on a burp maybe. not much more then that.... daily, 1500 watts in the right box, but also like as stated you need to use your eyes nose ears ...
  37. We are authorized for the products we sell. Do not want to be one of those fly by night stores in the race to ZERO.
  38. i just dont get this guy, where do you get off??? if you go to walmart a bag of chips is 3 bucks..... when you go to the gas station same bag of chips is 5 bucks.... do you get all pissy and call fritolay and tell them that the gas station is trying to rip you off... and you eat chips in your city so you deserve a special "asshole" price " bro"
  39. Oh man, now you've got Big Jon pissed.
  40. well i guess crossfire is the same as fi and AA too then right, your a fucking dipship. and you THINK YOU KNOW some shit you have no fucking clue about,... if you were as good as YOU THINK YOU ARE> teams would be approaching you. re evaluate your self worth. how about taking a step back and fucking LEARNING a thing or two, maybe then you wont sound so fucking foolish when you sit down at a keyboard
  41. In the very first response to your thread someone told you the best way to contact Fi.
  42. Please tell me how ssa could possibly be ripping you off.
